NO TOOLS NEEDED: Coin cell replacement in this style of key fob can be performed without a screwdriver. Once the front cover is removed exposing the key, the tip of the key can be used to push a tab in the corner of the fob to release the back cover over the battery compartment. It can also be done without the aid of the key if your fingernails are long enough. After the back cover is loosened, it is easy to use one's fingernails to pry it off completely. DO NOT remove the metallized plastic end cap of the fob!

Duh, so they can get money out of the pockets of those who won't try to figure it out. They should have made that release switch for the other side too. They could have.

Excellent video. If you struggle with putting the final back cover, there are three tabs that you can line up to. And there is arrow so you put the cover slightly next to the tabs and slide it to the other side and it locks in.

Car was complaining about low battery and I just did mine for my 2021 CX-5. Easy-peasy, thanks for the video!

We have a Mazda CX-50 that is sooooooo awesome!!!! We had a message on dashboard saying something like "Start Button Malfunction. Get Vehicle Inspected" Called our wonderful Town North Mazda and they said it is most likely the battery on keyfob that needs to be replaced. Ordered batteries today and hopefully battery replacement should fix error. ....Battery CR2032 came in, replaced it with video and no more dashboard message. Great Video!!!!! Thank you so much!!!
