2019 Volvo V60 Review | Wagon Worship

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

We review the new Volvo V60 T6 AWD Wagon, designed to bring luxury and practicality in a market littered with SUVs. The new Volvo is built fresh and has an updated interior along with new technology and safety. While we often think of the BMW X5 or X3 and the Audi Q5 at this price point the Volvo has minimal competition. Watch the video and find out more.

I have had two wagons. 1990 E300 MBZ and in 2006 purchased a 2006 Volvo V70R. I use a wheelchair so a vehicle that is easy to get in is critical. SUVs are to high. Also if I’m with someone they don’t need to dismantle the wheelchair. They place it in the back. Even if I started walking tomorrow I would still own a wagon. All the benefits of a SUV but it drives like a car not a truck. The Europeans have it right. Wagons over SUVs. BTW: my V70R is a beast to drive. 300 hp turbo and Brembo brakes. What’s not to love. I’ll keep this V70R until an all electric wagon works for me. Did I mention it has a 15 inch sub woofer in the back under the spare.

What can I say other than: I am going to buy the full package. The T8 has enough power to accelerate the XC90 like the D4 the V60 and it was awesome. The T8 is quiet on the inside and the sound system is so good, my gf, who doubted why would you pay 3k on a sound system, said to get the system so she can use it. Also the seats have to be mentioned too. I was "test sitting" in many cars, and I disliked the seats in all Mercedes and only other seats I liked are the sport seats in the BMW 5 series. In Volvo you can sit for hours without any feelings of backpain. yeah... just waiting for my promotion papers, so I can afford it

I am so glad that Volvo continues to provide good Wagons in the states. I drove a 2003 XC70 (Volvo's lifted version of the V70) as my first car and really liked it. I especially loved the 5 cylinder engine in it and have been super sad ever since they discontinued it. It makes sense why they did especially for fuel economy reasons as they could never get the efficiency they wanted out of it. I wished Volvo could make their powertrains in their cars actually reliable and easy to fix. This "twin charged" engine sound like a nightmare to diagnose problems.

Totally agree on adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability. My parents’ 2020 CX-5 has it and I use it even in traffic jams. It just takes away the stress of constantly monitoring the traffic and adjusting throttle and brakes. After using that system, going back to my 2018 Mazda 3’s adaptive cruise control without stop-and-go made me missing that feature. Makes driving so much easier and stress free.

Everybody says they love them, but don't actually buy them. That's the reason more companies don't offer them.

Look at how beefy the suspension components. Volvo’s are heavy and solid for a reason. Thick metal and very beefy parts.

I just hope the interior infotainment screens stays solid too. AC controls in the screens, IDK man it doesn't do it for me. Otherwise, I agree it's a great choice of a car.

I have a 2004 V70R (wagon). This is a great looking successor for the avid R enthusiasts IMO. It looks great, it is stylish/simple/elegant, and it's versatile. My 2004 is undoubtedly heavy, but the power of the 5-cyl turbo is plenty fun and the practicality of the cargo space is unmatched. I have a 2012 STi Hatch as well. For reference, with both lift gates closed, the V70R fits 10ft lumber, while the STi fits 8ft lumber. That's how you know it's a true wagon...it's just that much more practical than the modern day hatchback/5-door. This V60 maintains that. Love it!

Cheers for the great review as always. This is my dream car at the moment so excuse the bias but Volo is the king of the shooting brake. V90 is obviously the king but the v60 is the knight in shining armour. This current style platform Volo is using right now is so sleek and simple!! What isn't there to like?

The FOUR-C adjustable suspension isn't meant to make the ride more comfortable than the nonadjustable suspension; the ECO and Dynamic modes are why you'd want it. Remember the FOUR-C suspension from the P2 generation cars was harsher in comfort than the nonadjustable suspension cars, but it gave you Comfort, Sport, and Dynamic settings.

Here in Europe, you can get a D3 diesel with a manual. It has 150 horsepower, and FWD. But still, a manual V60 sounds crazy today.

I knew this review was coming and I couldn't wait for it. I'm a Volvo fan (not 100% pleased with the current direction of the company) and I own the ancestor of this car, the 1990s Volvo V40. I'm also a fan of wagons. I actually see a lot of its DNA in this, even the overall side profile looks very similar, of course with much larger dimensions for the newer model. I saw multiple people complain about the ride quality. I think it's due in part to the wheel and tire size, which are just too big IMO. Since this is not a sports car, wheels that are a tad smaller could improve the ride without damaging the handling too much. I really wish Volvo would still offer 5 cylinder options, but with the insane emissions standards we have in Europe (and China) these days, it would be almost impossible for such a small company. Otherwise, I really love this car. The interiors look amazing, the exterior looks so much better than an SUV, and it's all around an amazing luxury family car.

Volvo, since I can remember, has this quality of a strong rebound but seemingly less compression than they should have in terms of their shock damping to spring rates. I think they need to work on that. It's revealed over certain types of roads only. I don't think it is a matter of the tires, it's the rebound and compression. Maybe the suspension can use more travel but I think it's more to do with compression/rebound.

What a great review. And yes, because I just bought a preowned S60 I want to slather myself in baby oil and roll around in it. But it’s not as rollable as this V60. So I guess flopping around like a fish will have to do.

BMWs light Dakota leather has amazed me from not staining and staying bright white regardless of jeans and a big golden. Very impressed.
