What do you set for the audio enhancement, studio / concert hall etc?

Kris, have you noticed any quality / crispness / power difference between this system on the v60 and the ones on the 90 series? What about the specs: are those the same for 60 vs 90 series? If I am not mistaken the price for this option is always the same for every volvo model chosen. Thanks

XC60 has 10-Channel 1100W System driving 15 speakers.

Having driven a v90 d5 maxed out Inscription with everything including this sound system. It puts a tear in my eye everytime I get in the car and start my music.

What about using Tidal connected via USB? (i assume that's an option in this car) would there be a loss of audio at that point, if playing the music from pre-downloaded album on to your phones' hard drive? I would think not, but i could be wrong. Also, pop in a CD and that is technically the best audio you can get correct? Another question. Does this system include 5.1 surround support for a CD that can output in 5.1?

My dealership didn't have any to listen to, but based on feedback from ALL of the reviewers saying how epic this system is and because I love music so much I decided to add it to my order for my new XC60. I did hear the Harmon Kardon but it didn't sound that special, I don't think it was justified over the normal system.

HKs sound warm. B&Ws sound balanced if a wee bit bright and sharp. This is what I have experienced as a musician. Hope it helps.

Is this a normal v60 or v60 cc?

Wow, that sounds super clear! I'm gonna have to think over that $3000 price tag :)

You should try tidal hifi instead of spotify. If you invest so much in good hardware, it's a shame if your music source limits your experience.

Thanks for the review. I'm about to order a 2020 Volvo V90 XC. The B&W option is now $4,000 and includes: 10-Channel amp, 1100 watts, 15 speakers, so a bit different. You mention the loss of sound quality if using Bluetooth. The 2020 comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, both of which require connecting with a USB cable. I use Amazon Music and Alexa and intend to use play my music from that from my connected phone. Should that provide high quality sound? Also considering a Sony High Definition Walkman player. Any thoughts on that option? Thanks!

as long as you connect ur phone with a cable that should be fine. for Bluetooth or other wireless connections, music's data are compressed during the transmission which affects sound quality.

@@josingh20 I know this comment is old, but maybe I can still give the answer on time before somebody orders it. I had the chance to test all three sound systems, since I hear a lot of music and it's very important to me to have a nice experience. Short: no, the harman Kardon is not woth it. They have some options for settings, but it's basically the same as the base system. And I think it's too bass/low frequency-driven. In my opinion the base system is already nice and the 900$ for the HK are no upgrade except for the heavy non-configurable subwoofer, if you like that. If you really want a better music experience by a lot and have the money, then get the B&W System. You will feel every moment of the Quality.

Man, that system sounds as good as the wee speaker on my MacBook Pro.

Review Harmon kardon vs stansard. Please. The B&W is sooo overpriced. In Denmark or. 80.000!

You are missing out big time. The v90 with panorama sun roof, T8 engine and these speakers ect is just insanely luxurious.

It is insanely expensive here in Denmark. Makes absolutely no sense at all. About 10.500 EURO. 12.500 USD.. Furthermore the inscription costs way more with not that much extra. Try to build your own volvo in the DK site....

Yeah I know! Have built cars on the Danish configurator before. We used to have the same taxation system her on cars, but thankfully abandonned it many years ago. It's crazy that you guys still have "luxury" tax on items like alloy rims etc.

Currently luxury is less for more! Many non premium brands offer the similar equipment as standard. Generic comment and not related to the sound system.

It cost S$15K more for us to have it in our Volvo for factory option. :(

Thats why every Volvo car here in Singapore are not fitted with this option even though they are in Inscription trim.

I ordered it, but because of taxes, I have to pay 79.000 DKR for it

Stupid. That is my opinion. It is no way in hell worth dkr 80.000. Just for bragging.... but everybody will for sure just think "are you stupid or do you actually work with music for a living". But if you think you have the money. Go for it. I know I wound not, no matter how much money I make...

It sounds great! No doubts. But the access to the system setting is just terrible! It should be accessible under one or two clicks and not several ones! Imagine, you drive and want to change the expression of the music because you simply switched from a rock to some jazz (or whatever) . And then you are distracted by these several clicks! On many cars it is immediate! On the older Volvos it was just one button/two clicks! For that money i not only need quality of sound but also ergonomic operation. You use it every day so please comment.

A well tuned system doesn't need to have different settings for each music genre.

I agree with you... Real audiofreaks are not going to use this kind of rubbish music to give a demonstration wich should prove the quality of a soundsystem! Now there is one thing in wich I totally agree : The B&W soundsystem is one of the best and I also have this installed in my V60. Personally I'm a big fan of jazzmusic and for this kind of music, it is really a joy to listen when it's played on a volvo B&W soundsystem!

chris geens amen brother, i dont own one of these new models equipped with the B W systems, I have just an old S60 with H K system, but I tested several of the new models, and I also brought up my lossless on my phone and give it a try, I used Led Zep since i've been loving you , and steve reich , music for 18 musician, to give the B W a run for its money. great system, really great, to bad I dont own it.
