2019 Sheep Dog Trials | Royal Adelaide Show
Highlighting the importance of sheepdogs on Australian rural properties and not an easy task for the dogs or their handlers, these trials really put their skills to the test. The remarkable sheepdogs respond to whistles and commands from their handlers as they round up sheep, moving them through and around obstacles on a set course.

This is delightful! The music, not so much. I love to see people, or dogs, doing what they do at a very high skill level.

Magical. This Woman anchor is phenomenal
This video came up immediately after a video of my border collie came up on Snapchat. She’s no longer here with us but I still feel her with me. My girl was herding horses since she was a puppy!
Awesome! My Border Collies, who have never seen a sheep, were also impressed by Eddie. Athens, Georgia, USA
What's with the music? It's irritating and eliminates any chance of hearing the handlers communication. I wonder if it interferes with the dogs understanding as well. Not exactly real world conditions.

Literal real world situation
herding dogs are truly some of the most intelligent dogs. Border collies, Collies, Aussies, German Shepherds…I could go on and on and on. Anyone wanting one of these dogs as a lazy house pet will be very disappointed. Used to have a Border Collie x Blue Heeler mix. She was so smart, active, and sweet. RIP Bonnie girl ♥️

We had an Australian Cattle Dog, (not the shepherd, with longer hair) they have also been called Red Heelers, or Blue Heelers. Our Josta was old, blind, wore diapers (she had NO control over her bladder, the poor dear) We (my son and I) babied her, she always slept on a bed, either my son's or mine. She was so energetic, right up til she went blind, then she was stuck to one or the other of us all the time. She was a good girl and very loving. We had to send her on to the next part of her journey, about 7 months or so ago, she no longer was happy and wagging her tail, she still enjoyed being loved on, but she was in so much pain, the vet could not help her or make her better, she was old and she came into our lives as an unhealthy rescue dog. She was well loved and the vet told us we did all we could for her, we took her to him for about 12 yrs. He gently and kindly gave her the injection and off to sleep and onward to rainbow bridge she went.
This has to be the most incredible thing I’ve ever seen
This is a remarkable show. I would have liked it a lot more if the background music was non-existent. Praise THE MOST HIGH for HIS creation.
Very intelligent dog. Extremely well trained. I may be from Melbourne but I love rural Oz.
I can't get enough of this stuff. I am amazed what they can get dogs to do and I couldn't get my human children to do anything close.
Lovely bordercolly, smart, fast, social best dogs in the world
Man they're fast! Great dog. LOVE this pooch!
Amazing, and the filming, ah amazing.
Eddy was incredible!
Watching this with my border collie at my side. She very much enjoys this.
Thank you for sharing - the sheep dogs I mean 🙏🏾
nice to watch with the volume turned off.
When I took my Border to a sheep dog trial, it got two years.

Thanks, really enjoyed this and makes me miss when I used to run ours in trials a couple of decades ago. Our 14 week old Border Collie is showing a lot of eye, but our 14 week old Great Dane pup he’s using it on doesn’t understand what language he’s speaking.

Why must everything have annoying background music ? Were people born in a damn muzac elevator ?
I use that same stare down to make my kids behave

My Aussie German shepherd mix gets that same walk and attentive look when we bring the chickens and ducks in!!
The shape went over the breach.

The music has a purpose it's to make it more difficult for the dogs and to showcase their abilities to ignore things like that !

You should ask the girl from 'Britain's Got Talent' to train the dogs, she doesn't use a stick... Her dog does back flips and tap dances! 😂
I enjoy the term 'anti-clockwise'. This is how I describe not setting a morning alarm for 4 years now!
멋진 소 모리 개!
How did the dog and his handler complete the trial? I only saw the one sheep go through the two gates/fences at the end. All the rest of that time, the sheep just kept going around the fences.
So beautiful
My dog is a 2 year old border collie. She behaves exactly like this when I bring her to our dog park.
Babe would have put these silly border collies to shame.
They just said they use weak sheep that are more scared I'd love to see the stubborn sheep.
That's really cool
WONDERFUL DOGS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My BC behaves this way around toddlers 😂
So farmers in Australia also listen to country music?

I miss my border collies
Difficult to hear all of what is being explained with that background music.
Loads of dogs are capable... All collies not just border, huntaways, German shepherds (clue in the name), etc.
This is a test for the highest IQ right.
No commands from the owner
Hey may be saying away (right) go be (left) down stay

Intelligence is a relative thing. Compared to the dog, the sheep aren't too smart. I have an aussi collie and it is the smartest dog I have ever known.

Yeah.... That's the way you get Border Collies to work...BEAT THEM!! NO! He didn't "SERIOUSLY" hit the dog. In fact, he didn't hit the dog at all! That was obviously an "atta girl" positive reinforcement. Border Collies are a very sensitive breed, and any handler of this caliber would know hitting them would be counterproductive! You need to take your "bleeding heart" to the cardiologist for a calibration! 😳

- The gap is .9 of a metre - How in the world did that get determined? - I don't know - You guys are quirky as hell There's a reason why imperial measurements evolved naturally and it's a shame kids like these presenters are not even aware of them.
@sidney4357

i think he meant 'how did you determine that that was the correct width for the gap to be why not some other measurement'
The rules of this game are stupid
Go vegan and stop wearing leather and wool. The dogs are brilliant but I think this is an old art, not necessary in modern times. Use these beautiful, intelligent dogs for some other tasks that will be even more rewarding for the dogs and demonstrate even more of their intelligence.
