The Explorer ii is such of a amazing piece. I have taken the Explorer ii over the BLNR for traveling and as my daily ... when you travel, you want to avoid certain type of attention and the BLNR is juts too shiny, blinky for that that purpose... besides that, the Second time zone is way way easier to sport on the Explorer ii (with that gorgeous Orange hand) and I find the bezel and dial more attractive than the ceramic bezel...

In my collection the Polar 216570 get the most wrist time. Simple, easy to read, understated, and fun to wear.

I've always loved the polar Explorer II and just bought the 42MM from an AD. It is my daily driver on a tan NATO strap and it looks really cool + preserving the bracelet. I find it beautiful to look at, very simple and different from other SS sport models. It flies under the radar and I love that.

That dial on the Explorer II is perfect! I can’t wait to get one.

I couldn't decide between the two, so I got both from the AD (though I got the newest Polar with the 70 hr power reserve, not this one). I like my Polar just a little bit more.

Explorer 2 all day, but in the black dial for me! I do love the jubilee GMT Master 2 though, looks great, and I bet it is ridiculously comfortable.

Great video. I have the GMT master II black ceramic dial 116710 and the explorer II polar 216570. Honestly, if I had to be a one watch guy I’d go 216570 explorer II. Any day of the week. I prefer jubilee bracelets only on my DJ 36. Not on a sports watch. 🤦🏻‍♂️

In this case Polar wins, even though jubilee was original bracelet for gmt I still prefer the previous gmt fitted with oyster bracelet.

Just a small update: the new Explorer II 2021 has the same caliber of the GMT master II (so with 70 hrs reserve). Furthermore is not so true that is a "good value and you find easily" anymore as there is now high demand also for the Explorer II especially the polar.

My choice the Explorer II. I would prefer even the black dial Explorer II over the GMT...

I have really warmed up to the Explorer II recently. Ofcourse resale wise the Batman is the one to go for but, I really like the look of the Explorer II. It looks more like an adenturers watch and it is understated.

Well I can be honest here and say I have a 126710BLNR GMT Master ii, I have a 2008 16570 Explorer II Polar and I love the Explorer II so much I have just picked up a 226570 Explorer II Polar 2021 50th anniversary on Wednesday just gone. I couldn’t believe I got the call and I rushed straight down. To be honest I was wearing the 16570 as my daily and couldn’t tell you the last time I wore the GMT to be honest. Now I have the 226570 I might end up selling the GMT as I love the polar so much it’s a one and done! Sorry to those who disagree but I believe the Explorer II Polar is a winner everyday of the week!! So underrated and under appreciated. Explorer II for the win!!

Does the bezel click?

It's the 36 mm Oyster Perpetual for me , clean and classic . Hey Tim , Í just bought a Casio Oceanus OC - 500 and I am trying to find out when it was made and what the retail price was , can you help me ? , you know everything watch wise , I'm really digging your reviews .

Tim makes both watches seem so appealing! Owning one is just a fantasy for me, but I would go Batman.

Got both these and love them. Interesting video for sure. What I dont understand is three time zones. The booklet says when you turn bezel you lose reference time. So still two time zones? I see the bezel as an airline pilot or traveller watch when landing in a place prior to taking off to final destination? Use bezel for that quick change then in final destination pur bezel to noon and change hour hand like on polar. Thoughts? You're absolutely right. What hobby is as safe financially as this ....

you can either read on the bezel your new time, without any further adj.

If we all liked the same watch, life would be a bit dull, but for me I think I would get more wear with the explorer

I've got the 216570,when I looked at the 16570 it looked small and a bit bulky compared to the 216 and I don't have a really big wrist, about 7.5 inch and the larger 42mm case just wears better it looks slimmer on the wrist I think that is an optical illusion but it still is more preferable to me and I love the orange GMT hand and the orange printing and it really slides under the radar, just a great every day watch.

Explorer 2 (black Dial) for me. Larger case and better proportion than batgirl.

Ideally the both...and more ideally, the pepsi vs the batman... and then you have two complementary watches with so different looks, from the dial to bezel to bracelet... dream get both

I had the Batman and sold it two weeks ago and then bought a Tag Heuer 01 full black. But now I am thinking of buying the Explorer II as well. What about the Milgauss?

Wow! Great comparison between my favorite Rolex watches!! I just so own both! I do favor the Explorer II... It drives me nuts how the jubilee BLNR is referenced as “Batgirl”. It’s not a ladies watch is it? Now I get a complex every time I put it on... HAHA. I do love the feel of the jubilee- silky!

The Bruce Wayne, not the Batgirl. I have both as well, except I own the newest version of the Polar. I prefer it just a little bit more to the Bruce Wayne.

The new “Batman” BLNR is stunning. The jubilee just takes it upscale and compliments the blue/black bezel. The Jubilee just “pop” more like a fluted bezel on a DD. Owning many Rolex models, I think the new super jubilee is actually a better dive/sport bracelet than the oyster because it flows and breaths better. It’s certainly just as strong. The hue of the blue on the BLNR ceramic bezel is significantly better than on the BLRO making it the “king of GMT” land.

They are indeed very functional watches, as far as luxury sports watches go. But it's because it's a "Rolex" and people want that logo on their watches. At the end of the day it's a status symbol to most, especially if you have a sports watch, because everyone who has tried to buy one knows how difficult it is to get their hands on them. Even more of a symbol of status and exclusivity to these people.

Too much hate has been created around those sports watches from Rolex . Those are amazing . I’d rather get an OP36 in white dial over the Explorer II however .

I love understated and under the radar. The "look at me bling" Rolex is a no go for me. Explorer II in black all day.

I have the explorer II right now which I love, but as a pilot I would like a little bit more flexibility and get the GMT Master II in Coke. Waiting for that color combination to be produced.

Poler 42m all day long. The Explorer 2 white looks more Solid

I have traveled with the EXP2 all over and never received unwanted attention. Also sparks up interesting conversations whenever someone does notice what it is since it is very different than the other lines/models. Love the EXP2 but have been eyeing a Batman/Batgirl or the newer Pepsi.

Explorer 2 for me, have the BNLR original, love it but I like the quirkiness of the exp 2 polar dial. Feel I need to get this.

If you want a safe queen or an investment piece, get that GMT II. If you like to wear bumps, scuffs, scrapes, scratches as a badge of honor, get that Exp II.

I bought the Explorer II new with white dial in 2014. Worn it almost every day since. No issues whatsoever. I absolutely love it.

@@DavidDatura I feel that if you pay thousands of dollars for a watch , not just a Rolex , that is supposedly made with the finest materials to the highest standards then you should not get a watch that changes colour and texture and deacays over time .

Edward Sauve I get where you’re coming from. Still, even the finest materials aren’t indestructible. The 904 steel used by Rolex is actually softer than the 316 steel used by everybody else. And however well you look after a quality watch, that’s still not going to prevent it from getting dinged or scratched over time. I suppose just how much and how fast that minor damage builds up depends on how often you wear it and where. So I’ve answered my own question too it seems.

Batman on jubilee for me ... in fact, I own it. You can see mine in 4K in a natural setting on my channel. The Exp II is more of a daily, tool watch. The new Batman is a classier, dressier sport watch - which is how I dress (I have a Sub No Date 114060 for my less dressy needs).

I take whatever my Rolex overlord gives me.

Is that a water spot or pit on the left of the bezel triangle on the GMT?

I love the white dial. Purely as a matter of aesthetics I pales in comparison to my Snowflake. That said, I cannot see these two pieces as direct competitors - the Snowflake being the all-rounder, the Explorer being the sports watch. I wonder watch the Explorer would look like with a Jubilee bracelet. I wish the GMT date wheel matched the dial face.

Just buying a Plolar Explorer II to be different but still having a Rolex is moronic. Buy really something different! If any other brand would sell a white dial, steal bezel watch, nobody would care for it. I too don't care for the Polar Explorer II at all.

It's purely functional, i.e for the luminescent material.

Hats off to Tim and Watchbox for giving us the Lume Shot! Some people forget to do that. Also,I am a Lume-porn enthusiast.

I picked up the Explorer ll last year and have no regrets. I wear it daily. I had been wearing my 2012 Daytona as my primary watch but it just was too small for a larger wrist. I still love the Daytona but the Explorer ll is great everyday watch that’s unique in Rolex family.

I will go with the Explorer II 👌🏻

Being an owner of both, I can safely say you won’t regret either. The Polar is my daily “Beater” watch, it feels like you could take it into war and it would survive! The GMT is my weekend watch along with a 26331 Royal Oak. It feels more luxurious, smaller and new lugs on the BLNR along with the batman just gives it that semi-dressy aesthetic. Thanks again Tim and crew!

Before watching this vs review, given the choice I would of automatically gone with the GMT. And while the 42mm Explorer II still looks bloated and less well balanced than its perfectly proportioned 40mm predecessor. In this comparison at least and with that polar dial, it looks like a far more modern watch than the still classically elegant GMT, with a far more instantly legible dial too! Which was surprising. It’s definitely growing on me and if I were in the market for either one of these now, it would be far harder for me to choose between the two.

Thoughtful perspective.

I like the size and legibility of the Explorer II, but if you're going to make a bezel such a prominent feature a watch, it should be rotatable. With my C'Q-like physique, I'd probably choose the larger, uncluttered Explorer II, but if I had a Tim-sized wrist I'd take the rotating-bezel, long power-reserve Batman without a doubt!

I do get the hype of the steel sport watches and that is called Value.....go with GMT batman...all day ....always, go with ss Daytona, as submariner ,gmt, and explorer 1 for value.....that white explorer 2 is last

the 42mm explorer ii proportions are off. The bezel looks too thin, too much empty space on dial, hands not big enough. I'll stick with an oyster bracelet gmt

I love a white dial watch and I love almost any black dial. I'm definitely definitely a Rolex guy. So if right now, my head's not exploding, then maybe me teeth are chattering and my right eyelid is fluttering a little bit...

Hahaha.. just try getting one at an AD at retail price. A couple of years wait at the moment. They probably discontinue it before you get one now. You are right though. I have both and defienetely thr explorer 2..

Want an expensive watch that looks like an Invicta? Get any of the many Rolex watches with awkward and oversized and gaudy rotating bezels that nobody other than a scuba diver would ever use. The Explorer 1 and 2 are the clear choice and look unlike any other watch ever made😊.
