Not a fair test ,there are 200 series petrols,but with the y62 they all come petrol. If you think about it petrols are good for horsepower but diesels are good for torque so not fair next time do petrol 200 please thank you. Other wise good video.

Thanks. The diesel is by far the most popular engine option in the LandCruiser in Australia. We have previously tested the petrol in the 2014 model and it recorded a very similar 0-100km/h time. It's never been fair, Patrol has always been better than Land Cruiser in everyway shape and form. Just face the fact, You can with a Nissan! Land Cruiser is over rated. Only thing good about Toyota is the Hilux, nothing else.

That Diesel V8 sounds better than some sports cars IMO

Please try to match the commentary with the video! It's confusing to hear about the Nissan whilst looking at the Toyota

I have a 2016 Nissan y61 patrol and they are still producing them as 2019 models for the middle easy GCC countries they only come here with a gas I6 4.8 thats a monster engine off road especially on sand

Here in America the patrol is called the amarda

A tow test from 0-100 would also be a good guage for all the people that buy the 200 over the y62 because "diesel is better for towing".

In Australia the diesel is the more popular option for buyers, by a big margin. So we thought it would make more sense to test the diesel. Besides that though, a petrol model wasn't available on the press fleet for us to book.

I've owned both I'll go with the land cruiser because I live in pakistan and there are very few patrols in pakistan and parts can't be found anywhere it's not easy to send and receive my to and from Dubai but if you talk about overall luxury I'll take the patrol now I own a range rover

@@dimmacommunication The engine, except what Darren wrote has no problems, is just very thirsty in the field. (35 l is not a problem). I didn't understand Patrol Nismo when the engine only got +28 hp. Because Nismo this engine tunes to 600hp. Maybe for fear that he will then eat someone's leg ...

U failed to mention that while he 200 has slightly wider tyres. The wheels overall diameter are smaller. 31" vs 33.

I bet you've done like two 100-0 braking tests and overheat the brakes on Land cruiser

Nissan is winner all time if you try with toyota vxr 5.7 and nissan is winerr

I am buying a patrol simply because its the heaviest SUV around at almost 3 tonne. I checked out some others in the 2,000-2350kg range and they are just too light in their quest for fuel economy although a lot of them are bloody nice inside for a cheap price like the 2021 ssangyong rexton. If you search 'vehicle weight crash' you can see what two 5 star rated cars hitting each other when one is 500kg heavier is like. Not pretty for the lighter vehicle. Also monash uni do real crash statistics to show which vehicles are safe and the correlation between weight and injuries/fatalities is very shocking. So simply for the safety of a huge, high, long and heavy vehicle in protecting my family if we ever happen to be involved in an accident. Its worth it for me. Upgrading from a mitsubishi 380 sedan by the way. I will be getting a 2022 patrol with the upgraded interior. I do not want to see that fake woodgrain for the next 20 years haha

I like the interior of the Patrol.

at7.48 u can clearly see that land cruiser acceleration is better initially

Now after owning both I must say the Y62 patrol is far superior in every way over the 200 .. sorry but our 2022 Y62 kicks our previous 200s ass… even after we had upgraded turbos, intercooler, injectors and exhaust on the 200 🤷🏼‍♂️ facts .. the y62 even uses less fuel on the highway than our 200

Please replicate this test with 3000kg in tow. Most buy them for towing then provide l per 100km comparison. Factors most buyers want to know too.

Sure most of them are probably used to tow on occasion, but judging from the fact 95-99% of the ones I see dropping kids off at school, parked at woolies or sitting in peak hour CBD traffic don't have anything in tow, I don't think it's wrong to test them without.

There isn't much point in that comparision here. In the Aus market the landcruiser outsells the patrol 10 to 1, and 9 out of 10 of those landcruisers are diesel. Aussies don't like to buy their big cars with petrol engines and this is showing the value of the patrol and the some of the benefits of its petrol only engine choice. Eg: its lots faster, generally a more reliable engine & easier on the maintanence & lots cheaper to buy. The only downside is the fuel consumption.. and its looks.
