    I was recently hit by a drunk driver while on my Kawasaki KLR650 and it was totaled, (very totaled) I'm now looking to replace it. I've always wanted a BMW1200 Adventure....but after seeing this video I just may be sold on a Moto Guzzi V85. Beautiful bike and I love that retro flavor it has. Great video, thank you.

    I do enjoy your relaxed approach to reviews. I have seen a few of your vlogs and I could never figure out whose style you reminded me of until recently. I mean this as a compliment in that your laid back style is reminiscent of am American entertainer named Fred Rogers. Hopefully you can enjoy the same success and respect that Fred had here.

    "It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood. Won't you be my neighbor?" Thank you Jerry, yes, I take that as a compliment. The older I get, the more relaxed I get, and I'm coming to the realization that life is about enjoying the moment and when I'm on a bike, simple, do the same and enjoy it for what it is, how it feels, what it says to me. Cheers, Scott

    I have sold my 2016 GS LC and bought the V85. Three weeks have now have passed - and every day I love it more. Very easy to handle it, no technical overkill, amazing engine and: The Guzzi Beat wherever you go. In comparison, the Boxer was so boring.

    The gear shifts seems to be adventurous in all their recent models! My V 7 iii does the same, doesn't indicate till you release the cluch all the way and let another second pass! I recall you mentioning it on your test (the very first of your tests i watched!) It is a lovely, more close to modern day motorcycle, that might appeal to a broader audience than their classic models! As a very happy and proud even owner, I hope V85tt will be a success and i wish them the best and to keep making great motorcycles, always in Mandello del Ario!

    A tech note at 6:00 mins; the engine (i.e. crankshaft) is the 'longitudinal" configuration. A transverse crankshaft would be like the UJM 4-cylinder types. I would love to know if the heat output is a deal-breaker in warmest climates.

I mean no disrespect for them, but so far their bikes were made for smaller people and I am 6ft 3in. So a V7 or V9 is out of reach and I don't like those cruisers, even though this Audace looks quite amazing!

    Seriously though, these are two totally different bikes with a focus on different things. 1200 more of an off-road focus, almost no touring and the V85 light trail with a focus on touring. So depends on what you are going to do with them.

  • @jackalster77

    @jackalster77

    5 жыл бұрын

    I had these exact two bikes short listed. In terms of looks, comfort (seat, relaxed ride), exclusivity and hassle free shaft drive, the Guzzi wins. However, scrambler XE is technically (cornering ABS, better digital instrument) and ability wise (more horse power more torque bigger engine, better offroad suspension and capability) much better. In the end I went for the Guzzi and love it so far but the single biggest disappointment for me was to come to know AFTER BUYING the bike was that the spoked rims are with tubed tyres. The scrambler 1200 have spoked wheels but are Tubeless . Had I known this earlier, I most likely would have not bought the Guzzi. What makes it more confusing is that the Guzzi have tubes in the tyres but the tyres themselves are Tubeless type. By the way, I would appreciate if some technically savvy person can tell me if Tubeless Tyres are any safer during a high speed puncture, compared to tube type tyres with tubes. Thanks.

    I think this is a very interesting bike and certainly falls into my category of consideration, however the biggest issue I have is that it hasn't tubeless tires 😭 Come on Moto Guzzi we're in 2019, it's possible to have spoke rims and tubeless. If you want to steel customers from BMW you have to go the whole way. Nice review as always 👍

    Hi! I have a question! If someone whose about 5' 10.75" 225lbs with a 30 inch inseam but has never owned a bike but took an official motorcycle training course (not in Germany and let it expired before moving here) but has had plenty of exposure to 4wheelers and scooters and the like as a much younger man...WOULD or could you suggest this bike to a mature middle aged man whose looking to have not only his first bike but a long-termer? My thing has always been about safety but I've never wanted to "go fast" and now that Im 'older' (relatively) I feel like maybe I could own something a little more than...well...a V7. Don't get me wrong I love the V7 and it feels great ergonomically but I do want to travel...and potentially two up. Unfortunately I can't test ride any bikes yet here in Germany until I go through the safety program which Im fine with but I want a Guzzi so badly! Your thoughts? Thankyou! Love your videos! Would like to visit your dealership but its a bit far from me. Prost!

  • @NothingToProve

    @NothingToProve

    5 жыл бұрын

    Hi, well, this is a real easy to ride bike, it actually surprised me as to how easy it was to ride. But for a first bike and with your inseam of 30 inch...hmm. A Guzzi is a special kind of bike that is different from the "normal" bikes. People usually, I say "usually" get a Guzzi and have had some experience on others and now want the "different" or "special" approach to motorcycles that Moto Guzzi has in their bikes. I'm really struggling with recommending this as a first bike and with a 30in inseam. It really comes down to you and your personality, if you're a type "A" and you love to push forward, not afraid, willing to push yourself in small steps slowly learning, then yes. But if you are in any way hesitant in any of this, then no. Cheers from Paderborn, Scott

    @@NothingToProve Thank you! Sir! I got a chance to experience the feel of the 'twist' or 'turn' to the right when revving a brand new V7 III. I LOVED IT! It felt alive and it felt great! It felt right! I've sat on the V85 and it actually felt surprisingly good not too big like a GS or an Africa Twin but comfortable yet roomy. Didn't you say they offer lower seats? I found a sitting on a new Scrambler XC and I was on my tippy toes but it was better on the V85. How much different is riding a Guzzi compared to any other motorcycle? I've heard of this rear biased sensation or driving with the rear than with the front from some guys. IN any case I appreciate your response und ich genieße Sie Ihre Reviews! :)

    Hi Scott, just discovered this video. How do you compare the Guzzi with your f900xr? Would you trade in your xr for a v85tt? Cheers from Mechelen (B)

  • @NothingToProve

    @NothingToProve

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hmm...interesting. They are really two different bikes, delivering two different riding experiences. The TT engages you in the riding experience and you have to think about what to do and when to do it. The XR requires no thought process what-so-ever, I just hop on and go without thinking about anything about the bike and keep focused on my tasks for the day. The XR is quite simply my work bike, it does what I want, when I want, how I want it, period, it does not argue with me or engage me in a discussion. The Guzzi on the other hand want's to discuss everything, I mean EVERYTHING, well of course, it's a Guzzi, nuf said. So no, I would not trade the XR for the TT. The TT is a good second or third bike to have, the XR is a great "I have only one bike" and a do all and do it all very very well bike. 😁👍

    Javier, una vez que la has puesto en marcha, te olvidas del peso. ¡Palabra!. No es una moto para "hacer desiertos o trialeras" (salvo que la prepares, claro), pero es una moto para disfrutar como un enano de nuestras carreteras nacionales y secundarias, con curvas, con mal asfalto (o ningún asfalto), para subir puertos de montaña revirados... Te diría más, es una moto para hacer "Cabo Norte" como un señor. Y, aunque sea amor de propietario, estoy disfrutando como un mono con ella. En resumen... ¿recuerdas la maravillosa R 80 GS? Pues actualizada y "vestida" en Italia. Scott, apologize to reply Javier in spanish, but that kind of feelings are better said in our (Javier and Myself) common language. Saludos desde Granada. I said about the weigth because when you drive a bike that has more than 100hp seems that MUST have medium-large kg to give you enough security/confort driving over 150-170 km/h. So I'm familiar with the agricultureness of Moto Guzzis, which doesn't bother me one bit. I just knew in my heart that it will be a great bike to ride and to own. I also own a 2012 R1200GS Rally edition, and in my opinion as well as others, there is NO bike that handles like a R1200GS. It's just soo easy. The new Indians suck. No, that idea won't work at all. Trust me. The picture quality on this vid is great along with the audio. Excellent job. I do like Moto Guzzi but they lost me when they went electronic. Guys, you just don't need that type tech on a bike.
