2019 Mini Cooper JCW Review - The Best Hot Hatch?!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

This is the New 2019 refreshed Mini Cooper JCW! The Mini JCW is a car that has evolved over the years and this is the latest instalment from John Cooper Works. The 2019 Mini JCW reviewed in this video packs a punch. 230bhp and 0-60 in 6.3 seconds. The sound of this thing is great. this does not have the pro exhaust but believe me the exhaust sound and the cars acceleration are impressive! I hope you enjoy this first drive review of the new 2019 Mini JCW (John cooper works).

    I hear a lot of people hate on this car, and every single one of them have never driven it. It's a blast. One of the best hot hatches you can buy. My dad has had a few Porsches, and this car felt more fun than either of them.

    As a jcw owner I note the annoyance with the arm rest. If you put it all the way down then push the height adjuster on the front it will go lower clearing your elbow for better gear shifts.Only down side is you have to lift it again to put the hand break on. But hey when hooning about on a B road who needs to but the hand break on

  • @ehhhh9287
    @ehhhh92875 жыл бұрын

    Hey mate, F56 JCW owner here, you can move the arm rest down at quite a steep angle to make changing easier whilst retaining the comfort. In fact the only downside to that is access to the handbreak but it's a non issue for me. If you ditch the runflats the steering feel is a lot better. I feel like you're really punished if you don't have the weight shifted aggressively onto the front wheels when you turn into a corner. This means you sort of need to be driving it really hard or really gently to get the best dynamics out of the car. If you drive it quickly but you're not pushing it the steering seems to under-steer then snap over-steer a little on the uptake. Edit: The Cup wheels (which I have) may extenuate this feel a bit more, but it probably applies to the smaller wheels too. I actually had a modified abarth comp before this which didn't have this problem, and I'm assuming this is due to the mech LSD which the mini doesn't come with which is a massive shame.

    Well balanced review Stef, I’ve owned eight MINIS since the early 2000’s (four JCWs & a GP2). I had one of the first F56 JCW hatches & personally I couldn’t get on with the steering, it always seemed lacking & the armrest was a pain until I realised it could be pushed down giving better access to the gear stick. Have to say the new facelift looks really good in that colour but I’m pondering the Clubman with 300 bhp as a daily.

    the first gen r50/r53 models were originally designed by mini and then bmw tweaked the design. so, when people say its not really a mini....it actually is because thats the direction mini would've taken if bmw had not taken over the brand. I have a 2004 R50 mini but, it has the jcw engine tune fitted by mini at build and the chrono pack which you dont see very often on r50's. its tiny compared to the r56/f56 models.

    Hi Stef. Nice review. Only recently I started to like Mini's. What I find funny is that the hazards flashing lights was introduced by Abarth (if I am not wrong) and now a few other manufacturers are also doing the same. Well, at least the first time I have ever seen that feature in a car was with an Abarth. I know some reviewers were picking on that and saying it was stupid, pointless and anoying but others are following. It is a good thing though and for safety reasons to warn the driver behind you. And about manual or automatic...I would only buy an automatic if the car I want has no manual. Take care buddy

    I have a 2015 Cooper JCW... Running 280bhp.. Freaking awesome to drive!!! My Loan term is up in December, was planning to keep it and then work on a few things like Eventuri Air Filter which will activate the bonnet scoop and unlease about 15bhp, Differential and Decent Coilovers. I saw that the new JCW Clubman is coming with 306bph! Boasting 4.9 0 to 60. From what I was told it is a double clutch also if you get the paddle shift. Anyhow this is where I feel the Cooper should be performance wise, I have not heard anything to say that this is the direction they will take it either. They are putting the same spec Clubman engine into the new GP2 why not the Cooper? Not everybody Track days their cars!!! The Clubman's engine is a different spec 2.0 than the one in the curremt Cooper JCW. which why they've got the big increase in power i guess. Aftermarket tinkering should get you another 40bhp, with no problems, which would be juicy... Defo considering the clubman but love my Cooper also...

    Just got one of these identical to the one in your video while my mondeo i getting some crash damage repairs. When I was told I would be getting a mini I thought oh well its only for about 11 days it'll do. What I wasn't expecting not that I knew what one was, a jcw. I now know. I'm having as much fun with it as you were. The one I have hasn't got a armrest. To me the obvious fault is the speedo. We in Britain have amongst others, a 30 50 and 70mph limits. Yet these numbers are (to me ) ridiculously missing. So a quick glance at the speedo means it takes a little longer to register if you're breaking the limit, and you will be in this car. Other than that its a bit cramped in the foot well and has a feeling of being hemmed in due to its small size. Would I change my mondeo for one. No. The fords to good a car. But we have two cars and it'll soon time to change the peogeot 3008. And a jcw will be at the top of my list.

    I own a Steptronic JCW Convertible and would never go for the manual. With an auto you get the best of all worlds. Firstly auto with the paddles is brilliantly easy and gives the option to change as and when. If you want the full manual experience minus the clutch then flick the gear stick to the right and you have full manual. Who wants to drive a manual in heavy traffic?! Not me. This is a perfect all round car. This from someone who has had more cars than Arfur Daley, and gets bored after 18 months.I can’t think of any other daily driver I’d want to own.

    What u will find tho is mini would smash mazda 3 on the track and now with the release of mini j c w GP which is using same block engine as a bmw 135i making over 300 bhp from factor is o-60 in 5.1 and 1/4 mile in 13 secs dead would not only put u to the sword in a straight but it can also smash much more expensive cars with ease . So not sure where yr getting your ideas from comparing what is essentially a heavy shopping trolley vs mini with over 50 years of racing heritage. Not hating on mazda had rx8 now I drive mini cooper s and nismo 370z but trust people in the know would never choose mazda 3 vs mini best variant which is jcw gp its not a competition its a massacre.

    The character of the car has been "ruined" my f56 2017 cooper s pops & bangs in sport mode at every opportunity!! . The jcw should be even more antisocial if asked to be. The sound now is very disappointing. I definitely won't be going mini again. Such is the curse of wltp!!😡, my next car will definitely be chosen with sound in mind. I can't bear the thought of driving something that sounds like every other 105 bhp disappointment 😖😖
