2019 Mercedes Sprinter Alternator DC to DC Charging Install Tips and Tricks
This is not a full install video, but rather the things I learned along the way that may help you before attempting to install your DC to DC charger. The one I am using is a 50a Renogy combo unit which also receives solar power.
Please take caution when dealing with electrical wiring. If you don’t feel comfortable, reach out to a professional. That being said, if you take your time and do it properly it can be done in your driveway.
Make sure you are choosing a large enough wire to handle the amperage for the distance you are planning to run. Keep it under 20 ft in this instance.
For me, I am running 4 gauge wire at 17 ft.
Also make sure your crimps are solid and your connectors and making good contact!

I connected the ground to the battery directly, the positive to that bus bar. I believe I doubled up the large existing red wire.
I see. Thanks for the response. Connecting negative/ground to battery should work even though not ideal. I assume that you used a fuse/breaker somewhere in the positive line.

Yes I used an inline fuse for the positive and a circuit breaker for the ground so I can disconnect completely when I need to work on the van. This may be called alternator charging, but this is how the DC to DC chargers I know of instruct you to set them up. To your starter battery.
I have the exact battery busbar as you have. How did you connect the DC wire finally to the batter fuse bar?
Hi. Inwas hoping to see how you connected the wires to the starter battery ?
I don't think you understand how the Alternator Sense wire harness works.. It only starts charging when it senses the alternator running.. As any new DC-DC charger has a back feed shut off.. Unless it has a solar input.. If it does. It will start charging your van battery. Once the House batteries are full..
