    People are already talking about tuning this engine but with a 13:1 compression ratio it already IS tuned. I’ve owned three Miatas before, including a Flying Miata turbocharged making 270 hp. Big mistake. The car's personality changed and even with revised suspension it was a handful in the corners - the short wheelbase meant the back end would break loose without warning and be very tricky to catch. Driving it changed from a fun experience to a stressful one. And that’s the reason I’m picking up a new 2019 base model (Sport) this weekend. I’m getting it for under $25k and it has nothing I don’t need and everything I want.

    Whilst I’m late to viewing this video, I couldn’t agree nor with you! There’s plenty of power for this car’s weight. BBR offer the best solution - a basic remap. It’ll only bump the power from 130/180 to 150/200 respectively. If people want a bit more without breaking the bank and ruining the reliability of the stock car, BBR’s remaps are the way to go. Having owned a heavily modified NA, I wouldn’t go there again - modifying a car ruins the reliability of it and makes diagnosing problems too much of a headache.

    I can remember owning a lovely 1980 Inca Yellow Triumph Spitfire back in the late 80s. It was a rust bucket, and not very reliable, but a dream to drive. I bought my mid life crisis dream car, back in Sep 2021. A Mazda MX5 MD2 Sports Venture, with the perfect engine in the 1500cc engine. There are so many similarities with my Triumph Spitfire, same sized engine, sublime handling, Only difference, is that my MX5 has been totally reliable, and is built to exacting standards.

    I bought a 2010 Miata and I love it. I love drive I have a Cadillac XT4 so I'm used to driving larger cars This car is perfect for a summer car or just a adult toy, I find myself staring at the miata, I can't take my eyes off of her. I feel like a minion, I now know what all the hype is about now. AND YES THE CUP HODERS, IN A 2019, MOVEABLE OR NOT ARE IN A "STUPID POSITION" I can't even drink any coffee when we take his car. Over all it's a great little car

    Great car, the upcoming 30th anniversary edition nearly tempts me, but it’s orange and that’s it colour wise. It comes with the Brembos and Recaro seats, great , but! They should be options on the whole range. What’s missing is Mazda UKs foolish lack of offering the recaro seats and the BBS wheel, Brembo break option that the USA enjoys as options. If I could choose those I would have ordered already. Until then I won’t.

    I love the 30th Anniversary Orange but am a bit of a purist so for $10k less am happy to buy a base (Sport) model. The Recaros would be a little stiff and confining for long drives, and the stock brakes are fine - I don’t need Brembos. I can see myself autocrossing this car and even doing the occasional track day. But mostly it’s got to be a livable daily driver - and the Sport is the most authentic and drivable of all the Miata models.

    So does the Abarth 124 Spider not exist?

  • @johntechwriter

    @johntechwriter

    4 жыл бұрын

    For one thing the Abarth helps Mazda lower production costs on its own Miatas. With another manufacturer using the chassis, there’s greater economy of scale. I doubt the Abarth will be around for long, however. It might survive in Europe, where Miatas are subject to heavy tariffs and thus are very expensive. But in America the Miata will murder the Abarth.

    Sadly from 2030 on all combustion cars including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Now they want to slow down all the gas station fuel pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime :-(/

    Sadly there isn't much mazda can do to bring back the pop up headlights. It a safety regulation which basicaly prevents cars with pop up headlights to be sold in the western markets. Same thing with the plastic bumbers. You can wait all you want but it will never happen.

  • @johntechwriter

    Hey, I’ve owned three Miatas with pop-up lights. They suck for three reasons: 1) they are lousy, weak headlights; 2) they cause huge wind turbulence that you can feel with the top down; 3) they significantly reduce fuel economy.
