2019 Jimny Tie Down Point

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

One of the most annoying things about the 2019 Jimny is the lack of tie down and anchoring points in the back. I've finally found a decent way of securing loads in the back with this quick mod that costs less than $50.
I used the Grunt E-track mounting system (from Bunnings):
usegrunt.com/product-category...
4 x Single E-track space savers
4 x Tie Off with D Ring
8 x M8x40mm Galvanised Cup Head Bolts
8 x M8 washers
8 x M8 nuts
2 x M6 Eyebolts (Optional)
Tools Needed:
Drill
Pilot Drill Bit
8.5mm Drill Bit
13mm Spanner
Silicone
Clear Touch Paint
The install took about 1.5 hours and the hardest part was trying to reach some of the nuts because the Jimny is so cramped in places.
Give it a go, and let me know what you think.
Cheers

Hey mate! Hope you’re well! This is an awesome idea! I was wondering if you could help me out with the measurements for LxW for that jack holder area? As well as what the height of the styrofoam is at its thickest. I’m looking to mount a battery back there using your technique, but my Jim only arrives in a few months and want to make sure that I buy a battery that will fit in there.

For front and rear tie downs I have used the M6 Bolt in the rear as shown. However for the front I have taken out the trim fitting under the rear seats and fitted an M6 tie down there too. 2 Second Job and Front and rear tie down on both sides.

Are you powering your fridge by the 12V in the back connected to the starter battery? And if so, Any issues so far?

Can I ask is there a reason you didn’t just use the child seat mounting points at the rear? Love what you’ve done. Very practical.

Good video champ .... go the Zook 😉👍 One quick question though - why did you use cuphead bolts that are designed to pull into timber when you were tightening down onto metal ? The square section in the shaft and domed top wouldn’t allow you to really tightening it right up ? I thought you’d just use a hex head bolt so you can hole the bolt head tight as you tightened the nut ... 🤔 Or do those mounts have a square hole in them that holds the shaft still while tightening the nut ? Anyway, great video champ. Great little car and great to see you out and about using it - Turon is a top spot eh. Keep up the great work 👍👍

Thank you... You’re spot on, the brackets have square holes that take the square section of the bolt... Turon is beautiful. Might catch you out there one day. Cheers

Child restraints aren’t designed to hold cargo at odd angles you may end up compromising the integrity of the restraint if you use it to strap down 60kg worth of fridge off-road.

As long as you don’t put too much force on it, just keep in mind If you’re off road bouncing around this may put extra force on any tie down points
