2019 Honda CB500F First Ride Review [Almost Great]

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I smell something on the horizon for the Honda CB500F... but only in the future. Unfortunately, for 2019 the CB500F is focused on the past rather than the present or future. Watch the video and see what I think of the old CB500F and everything it has to offer and where if can use some updates.

    You can get these used for $3500 all day. It is already an exceptional motorcycle, probably the best value for money out there. There is no "twitchiness" whatsoever when I've ridden one of these. It's solid, planted, great brakes, adequate power and torque. One of the best bikes I've ever ridden, and I've ridden (and road raced) tons of bikes in the last 35 years.

    I would dare argue that the CB500F is Honda's best motorcycle. It does well in so many areas: low purchase price, quick acceleration, sporty highway riding, slow speed urban maneuverability, fuel economy + low cost, low parts cost, repair simplicity, sports leaning + cornering, ride comfort, ergonomics, light weight, ease of storage, and just simplicity to use.

    Cool video my friend (subscribed). I bought the 2015 version 2+ years ago and I love riding my CB500F! It's my first bike and it's all I need for daily riding on the interstate, fun on the twisties, and commuting in town. I agree that it is an EXCELLENT first bike where you don't have to worry about doing "magic wheelies". I was lucky to get a little horsepower from my CB500F, it was Dyno'd, stock with 49 horsepower (2 more horsepower than this 2019 version......but who's counting. lol). The 2019 version is gorgeous, except for the exhaust which looks like hideous dog balls hanging off the back of the bike. The display looks better on this 2019 version with including a gear indicator (my 2015 version does not have a gear indicator). I like the 2019 version.......Shit can the exhaust and you are good to go!

    I hope they take the CB500F's engine and frame and make a CB500R. The CB300R and CB650R are beautiful but the CB300R has short gears making highway riding less enjoyable and the CB650R has a large price tag. With how well the CB300R is selling it would make sense for them to go for it.

    "Extraordinary flatulence". No wonder those pick-up drivers had their windows closed when you passed them. That Honda parallel twin powerplant is exceptional. Its smooth, linear power delivery is hard to beat. However you are right - the bike itself doesn't stand out from the crowd which will deter young riders and enthusiasts from buying it.

    Quick question. How is a bike a good beginner bike and an upgrade from your first bike?

  • @Fearless154

    @Fearless154

    4 жыл бұрын

    It is made to be europe licensing a2 friendly beginners bike. It's only 47HP at the crank, Only few HP more than your typical 300cc beginners friendly bike, There is even faster bikes from this category like duke390 or z400 so it's not any intimidating bike to ride. It's great beginners bike specially if you're a bigger rider or don't want to get bored fast as you will riding 250cc. As a second bike i can't see any good reason to get this because power wise it's the same as other beginner friendly 300cc bikes and you won't be feeling much of an upgrade unless you coming from 250cc or 125cc and even so it's better to get cb650f instead.

    @jeremycubs8331

    Hmm not because they're A2 bikes doesn't necessarily mean they make you less of a rider, at the end of the day it's all about what you require from the bike, I mean I'm 42 and been riding really since 20. I could have bought the MT09 if showing off was my priority lol, but eventually settled for the 500f for the reasons that it's more than adequate for my commuting, it's just so practical, cheaper to insure, great mpg 90mpg is achievable!, Torque is more than enough to tackle any hills with no problems on 6th gear, LED lighting is awesome as it requires a fraction of power from the battery, looks the part at least to me anyway, and it's a Honda, these engines would last a million miles with proper maintenance. Z650 is a lovely bike so just get what's right for you, for now I'm satisfied with 500f, not fast but 110 mph is enough to lose your license though lol. All the best 👍

    Being an owner of the 2017 year CB500F myself for about 5 months now... I definitely have that same feeling of it always being barely good enough. Coming from a liter bike, I can say when you're only taking this bike around town to work etc and short highway trips (less than 10 miles) it's good. But if you live in a state like Florida where everything is a straight line or a highway, this bike feels just barely not good enough. A little more power or an extra cylinder adding another 200 ish CCs to the bike would make it an EXCELLENT attractive buy. The 500 is already, to some people, just another boring twin. A 3 cylinder engine would definitely spice up the formula and give it that character it needs to be a slightly small displacement sport bike.

    Lmao The 2019 Honda CBR500R’s clip-ons are mounted lower on the fork legs than before. Instead of clipping on above the top triple-clamp, this year the clip-ons are attached below a new top triple claim. Also, the seat height has been raised just less than a quarter-inch, but stays below 31 inches. 2019 Honda CBR500R To match the new ergonomics, the fairing is updated. To further increase performance, the wind management is improved with new plastic from nose to tail. Behind the windscreen is a new LCD instrument panel, with additional information. like the gear-position readout, and there’s also an upshift light. All the lighting on the 2019 Honda CBR500R is now LED. But I appreciate your opinion.
