2019 Ford Transit Bad Washer Pump

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Here I show you how to diagnose a simple circuit. This ended up being a faulty washer pump on my 2019 Transit 350

I have a 2014 Transit Custom, the windscreen washer pump has been replaced twice by the main dealer, expensive and annoying. It's packed up for the 3rd time, I will replace myself after watching you. Thanks for the tips.

I did a repair on my 2018 model today . I removed the plug connector completely and did a voltage check which was fine . The pump , I decided to dismantle by separating the top cover near the connector . The motor inside was completely full of water, inside the plastic housing causing a short circuit . New pump fitted all is working well.

Same with my 2015 transit custom but before dismantling the pump to have a look I noticed the water which was blackish was coming out of the terminals so I’m guessing the water ingress get’s in past the wiring pins, my suggestion would be to seal up the top of the plug with silicone or silicone grease to help stop the ingress in the future. (This was on a genuine Fo-Mo-Co pump) I just hope the febi part lasts longer.

I’ve just replaced my washer motor and can’t believe it’s broken on my 2018 Ford transit, I’ve never had to replace this on any of my other vans

I think they have sourced a low quality supplier.

You had a concern about the voltage drop on the old motor (which was not working). Did you check it after you replaced the motor to see what happened then??

Yes I still had a higher than expected voltage drop on the ground side, according to the diagrams it does have a 2nd relay that normally provides the ground to this pump. very interesting diagram , looks more like a power window switch circuit the way that it can switch the polarity of the motor depending on if it has rear wipers/ washers.

I have a 2019 and same thing - pump not working - I will most likely just change it out - not right for a virtually brand new vehicle

The voltage drop will be due to the length of your test lead. Test directly positive to negative in the multi plug

Hello thanks for watching.. I will have to double check, but I belive I was back probing and had more voltage on the ground than I would expect, and more of a positive side voltage drop than expected.. ibwas not flowing any of the laod current through my jumper learn, just using them for the meters connection to ground.

The pump is in a stupid place, exposed to all the mud, road salt and water spray, I think that's what ruins the pump.
