2019 First Motocycle Hammock Camping | Street Triple R | SW-Motech | Warbonnet | Hammock Gear

I finally get to take my Triumph Street Triple R camping for the first time! Thanks to the lightweight hammock set up and some cool SW-Motech luggage system, I was able to pack light for my first night at the campsite. I still have a lot to learn when it comes to hammock camping, considering I slept pretty cold my first night. But, it was still fun and a new adventure awaits this season. I can't wait to do more camping and I hope to see you on the road with me!

I’m loving your vids, very informative. I discovered your channel a while back when I was looking for a luggage setup, which was a great vid btw, but then I lost you and couldn’t find it again. Lol, and this vid, I was howling harder than the wind when it picked up as soon as you started putting the tarp on that hammock. Exactly how it would’ve gone for me too without a doubt. Made my day. You’ve sold me on hammock camping too. Thanks!

Practice makes perfect. Been hammock camping for over 10 years. I use a Warbonnet bridge hammock now and just love it more then a regular gathered end hammock. The under quilt made for it attaches so much better. You never have to worry about the fitting of it.

Excellent vid! That's brave to go out on such a cold night. I just bought an underquilt this winter and haven't tried it yet.

Thanks Tim! I hope you enjoy your underquilt! The cold night was not fun but it was for testing the limits of the equipment. I won't do it regularly. Lol

Try using a heated vest when you ride in cold weather. It will keep your whole body warm. I've also tried heated gloves, boots but ended up using the heated vest only. I rode in subfreezing weather with no issues. Also a larger windshield helps too. If you are caught in cold weather without proper riding clothing and all stores that sell clothing are closed , find a newspaper, unfold it and put it between your jacket and the shirt. A single layer of thin paper in the front does a great job at blocking wind but it doesn't trap moisture (like plastic).

You are one Tough lady! If it got down to 20° like you said and with that wind Wow I can only imagine how cold you must have been. My first hammock experience in the Mountains of Wyoming years ago was similar but the temps were not as cold and I didnt have an under quilt. Admittedly I got so cold in the middle of the night that I had to give in and sleep in the truck the rest of the night. Great pros and cons comparison as well!

It actually got down to 23 to be exact. The extra 3 degrees helped a bit. LOL I was cold. I had 4 layers on and was still cold. I've learned so much with hammock camping this season, that I can't wait to share it once the season ends. Looking forward to winter videos. I can't imagine sleeping without an under quilt, even in nice weather! Glad you had an option to sleep in your truck though! Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

Great video! You give folks a great perspective of exactly what you're going through. As for your "chill in the hammock" try lining the hammock with a reflective emergency blanket. Very thin and light weight and does a great job of reflecting your body heat back at you. I'd also suggest will socks for sleeping. Not sure if you had wool socks on or nylon or lycra etc. I've found wool socks keep my feet warmer when camping. Thanks again for putting this video together. I hope you warmed up once you got home 👍🏜

Hi there. I'll look into the reflective blankets and get some for my big trip at the end of the month. As for the socks, I had 2 pairs of merino wool socks on. But I seriously think the cold came from my poor tarp setup and my lack of understanding of how setting up under quilts work. LOL I finally warm up 30 minutes after I got home. Thanks for watching!

I've camped a bunch in my Hennessey hammock, never in conditions that cold, but I also have no underquilt - yet. Sounds like you figured out the same thing re: having your legs higher to keep from sliding. It looked to me like you didn't have enough tension. (Maybe personal preference or depend on hammock type, but I've found the more tension, the better, within realistic limits obviously. Otherwise it feels like your body is being folded, rather than being relatively flat.)

Hi there! There definitely wasn't enough tension. I'm definitely learning. I've had better luck camping this summer though. I'll put up a video of how what I've learned. Thanks for stopping by!

I do have the still have the Vulcan S. You definitely go wrong with either one. If you plan on going off the beaten path more often, I would go with the Versys. If not, then the Vulcan S will be more fun on the streets (especially highway). Hope that helps!

No. I only have it on when it's a bright sunny day. It doesn't look like it, but this bikes headlights are pretty dim during the day. The brights help other car drivers see me better during bright days. Thanks for watching!
