    Thanks for a really good review. The 950S is on my maybe list for the future. It’s a beautiful bike and I loved the engine accel you demonstrated. I ride a 2015 Versys 650 LT, it’s been a great bike for me, it I see the Ducati as my next possible step up in power and grace. Thanks man.

    Hey mate :D I loved the description of the camera and audio struggle, I am trying to start a channel too and I get the same problems all the time! You compared it briefly to the Tracer 900, which I have, and just to give you feedback I think the Tracer does better on road than the 950s. I did a pretty long test of the 950s last year and I stayed on my Tracer at the time. However, recently I am starting to reconsider, mainly 'cause I want to do more fire roads. My opinion: * Tracer engine is even better (really!) * Tracer ergonomics are better on road use. Especially handlebar and foot controls (I find the rear brake on the Multi harder to control because of the engine case protruding over it). * Tracer rides more like a motard, you are more "on top" of the bike, it's both more agile (17 front!) and more stable * Tracer is a hell of a lot lot cheaper On the other hand * The multistrada 950s should have moderate offroad capability which the Tracer completely lacks (again: Tracer has the 17 front! and is very low to the ground) * Suspension on the Tracer are not as good as the multi * 2 up riding (which I do a lot) is better on the Multi because of the better suspension Everything else is comparable or pretty much in the same ballpark. Good job with your review!

    Thanks for the honest review, I have to say I am tossing up between a new one of these or a lightly used 1260 and I am torn on which to go for. Like most people I love the idea of having all that power but do you really need it on normal roads. Also just a bit of feedback, I would have really enjoyed your video more if the screen was in the lower position just to see the road ahead purely as it is not see through.

  • @gonzo221

    One thing to factor in between the two bikes since I was in this very same position. The service costs on the 1260 is crazy high. In my opinion the extra power isn't needed on this kind of bike. All you end up doing is spending more money on tires. And my advice on a used multi is to stay away unless it has a warranty left on it. Not saying that they are unreliable. Just that if something does go wrong these bikes are really expensive to fix. Either way though you're going to love the bike!

    Nice review. you know model 950s with full Electronic suspension has just come to Brazil , most of consumers still prefer to buy 1260 s because of the engine power anyway many people has been discovering the positive points and advantages of 950s like better handle, much easier on traffic and also incredibly fast on the corners, so in these comparison less is more in my opinion. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

    Hi, Thanks for the video! Excellent review! I sold my Guzzi Griso 1200 earlier this year. Looking for a practical do-it-all machine and already rode the vstrom 1050, guzzi v85 and tiger900. Still I think my future lies on the 950. In my case I am looking for the ride, the pleasure of riding and I wonder if I’ll need all the electronics. I wonder if the 950 isn’t more reliable than the 950s...

    Great video and thanks for sharing. I have a few questions. How good is the wind protection and fuel consumption. would you recommend this bike over the Triumph tiger 900 GT pro. I took one for a test ride today. It has heated seats/grips, the best quick shifter I've ever experienced, the triple engine, cheaper accessories, & lower cost of ownership. I think the Ducati looks way better and has a better gage cluster.

  • @gonzo221

    @gonzo221

    4 жыл бұрын

    Hey, that's a hard choice. I haven't ridden the tiger 900 yet. I know it's getting great reviews. From what I've read I think the tiger would be better off road while the multistrada is better for on road and touring. I do like the updates that triumph have made to the tiger. It's extremely competitive and I'd say you can't go wrong with that choice. The wind protection on the multi is good. With the stock windscreen in the raised position I get no buffeting on the highway. My. Lifetime fuel average right now it 43mpg. And tamhats with me revving the absolute piss out of it. Just cruising on the highway I get mid to high 50s. A tank of gas will get me easily over 200 miles regardless of how hard I ride it.

  • @les2935
    @les29353 жыл бұрын

    I bought one of these and love it Main issue I have is the wind buffeting at speed, yours doesn't look like the stock screen and I didn't notice much noise, have you changed it? I love the brakes, I have mine set to safe and secure, for the inexperienced you can just grab the front brake as hard as you like and let the ABS sort out the front and back ratio and stop the back end lifting. I see comments about vibration but I think it feels nice and the engine sounds great, I think the mirrors are really good and don't shake much Good review

    Hey gonzo, knowing both bikes well. Which one would you prefer G850GS or MTS 950s?

  • @gonzo221

    @gonzo221

    4 жыл бұрын

    I personally prefer the Multistrada because it's sportier on the road than the BMW 850GS. Now if I was doing any sort of dirt riding or off roading the BMW 850gs destroys the multistrada in that regard. It's just more suited for that role. The multistrada can handle gravel and hard packed dirt roads fine. Even sand if you change the tires, but the BMW is more suited to peg standing and larger obstacles. I would watch Steve Kamrads BMW 850gs review where he actually raced it. It's highly capable off road.

    Looking at the new V2S, asked the dealer how much the 30000km maintenance was, and its around 1500$+tx here in Canada. Not to bad if you ride 10000km a year, but I can ride 30000km in a year sometimes and the maintenance cost is certainly something I'm considering. Also did you try an Africa Twin, my 2nd biggest concern is that the bike doesn't have the low end torque of the Africa. I like bikes to give me the power off the line, so that way I'm not tempted to go twice the speed limit all the time to enjoy it. Does it power wheelie in 1st and 2nd gear? Also, looks like Ducati is using Apple's business model, you can't repair it yourself and anything you want do to your device needs to go through Apple.

  • @gonzo221

    @gonzo221

    2 жыл бұрын

    Yeah, the bike does power wheelie in first. In second you have to bounce it a little but it does lift. The torque on the bike is great, I can't see you ever feeling the bike is underpowered. As for the repair, the service light is non reset able. So if you do services yourself you have to go to dealer in order for them to reset the light. I have a good relationship with my dealer here so they don't charge me for the reset. But it does suck that more bike brands are doing this.

Sadly there's no way to reset the service light yourself. I'm actually going to pay, for the extended warranty since it seems like we're keeping this one for longer then usual.

    Can it be recommended as a starter bike from your experience

  • @gonzo221

    @gonzo221

    3 жыл бұрын

    Technically any bike can be used as a beginner bike in my experience. It all depends on your self control. The only aspect that you'll have to ask yourself is are you willing to damage this bike and pay to repair it. I only say that because every person who starts riding will drop their bike. It may be a crash or it might be a top over at 0 speed. If spending money to fix this bike is no issue for you and if you have a high amount of self control then go for it. Ideally though I'd say the best "starter" bike to learn on right now is the KTM Duke 390. That bike is so much fun, and surprisingly capable. I recommend that bike to everyone getting into biking. You can find them pretty cheap used as well.

    Congrats on the bike, it's a beaut. But I have to say that your gripe with the rear brake isn't very relevant since you hardly ever use the rear brake on its own without engaging the front brake, unless you need to adjust for coming in too fast in a corner, in which case you don't want it to grip too hard anyway ... - or you want to slide through corners on gravel.

And as you said I use the rear brake for corner entry a lot when I'm riding the twistys.day to day not so much. But I felt I had to mention it to be fair. I've never heard anyone point out the ineffectiveness of the rear brake, as it's already not really used for braking, especially by itself, so, does that clear up why it makes no sense to point it out? Your point that they are linked and that system works great is not really related to a point of the rear not working well....unless those are somehow linked as in the rear doesn't work well but when the system applies both somehow the booster or electronic system engages it "for real" instead of a half pressure from the foot pedal......that's my point I guess, as to how it's related.

    Rear brakes are 'poor' by design. This is to avoid riders locking up the rear wheel too easily. They're best used for steadying a bike during braking (in combination with the front brake), for slow maneuvering or in emergency stop situations.
