    Well done. The Diavel is an unknown gem of the motorcycle world. It really is the best of all things Street Cruiser IMO.

    I like your comments at the end. I own an Aprilia RSV4 RF and I'm really starting to look more seriously at bikes like this. I'm 48 years old, wife and two teenage kids. I've only ever owned sports bikes with the exception of a Virago 1000 back in the 80's (which was a disaster), but the riding position is starting to get a little old. I love the performance, sound, and aesthetics of the Ape, but I like to keep my license, and getting the most out of the bike is rare. The Diavel is something to consider..........I'm not certain I'm man enough just yet...........

    They are both kinda lost in the middle between cruiser and sports bike, but yeah, the Diavel leans more to the sporty side while the XDiavel is closer to a normal cruiser. Anyway, they both look BADASS, they ride great and perform amazingly.

    John and team - very nice review. My take as a Monster 1200s owner who rode the last Diavel is Ducati has created meaningful emotional distance w/the new Diavel supplemented with changed ergonomics, rake (which you mention), and improved rideability. Sitting on it at the NYC show here in the States, the differences are immediately felt, and as CPU UK mentions below, I also thought of the V-Max. I'm looking forward to a go once the S model lands here in the U.S. Keep up the good work.

    I like the Monster but at my age (55) and height (6ft) this Diavel looks more practical and comfortable. Still pretty light with brutal power. Next year will be the year for a new bike and I want something naked, fast and light without the contorted riding position of more compact bikes.

    Great review as usual, thanks. If there was a Top Gear for bikes you'd be on it. Informative and entertaining. I think I've got to get one of these at some point. Got a Supersport S and just bought a used Multi 1200s for riding through winter. But these look interesting. Maybe in a couple of years when someone has lost £8k on it...

    As the happy and proud owner of a 2012 Diavel, I can tell you IT IS NOT A CRUISER. If you must classify it, it is a “standard”. I traded in a 2013 Suzuki Boulevard M90 when I got the Diavel. The M90 is a cruiser.

Ben, we can only work with the people who want to work with us, Ducati see the value in what we do. Some others prefer conventional media, like works printed in paper. We've recently been on 2 Honda, 2 BMW and a Harley launch, all of those vids will soon be loaded. Also, we have BJ working on a Suzuki SV650, can't get any more grounded than that. Lets look at the last 10 vids we've done, Diavel, Moto Guzzi, Multistrada, SV650, KTM SMC, Yamaha R125, Triumph Speed Twin, Another SV650, Indian and Honda. Looks like you're seeing too much red Ben. It's not really much of a contest this bike is much better. The Rocket doesn't stand a chance in any way, the Vmax might be a bit faster on long straights (not as much as you'd think, most of the power difference is eaten up by the weight difference) but as soon as you get to the first corner the Diavel is gone.

Would like the new model to have and added mode in touring called the dcm .devil cruise mode where electronic forward foot pegs come out and the handle bar to forward and retract 3 settings would be the next big thing on the cruiser. Thats me being prophetic and not pathetic

Another bike I have been looking at is the 2019 Kawasaki Ninja H2 SX SE+ That seems a bit more practical for 2-up riding but that moves me from a cruiser to a slightly more aggressive riding position and I am not sure that's for me. I had the first version and found the rear tyre dominated the ride, forcing you to counter steer forcefully to get round corners. It just wanted to push wide all the time and scrubbed away the front tyre. Sounds like the new chassis may have sorted this?

    Shamone MoFo I agree, the first model had a tendency to push wide if you let it. This model is certainly a more refined bike to ride and didn’t do what the old model did from apex to exit of a corner.

    The seat locks you into one position. Why is this bike so heavy?

  • @yohvh
    @yohvh5 жыл бұрын

    harley lacks power and handle. the rocket is closer to this. but heavier and even more cruise. the Vmax might be the best compatitor. or it used to be atleast..

    Ben Par if you look down the comments, you’ll see I’ve already mentioned that Yamaha no longer sell the Vmax in the UK thank to EU4 weirdness, so there’s little point drawing comparison. Ben, I asked you for a list of bikes that you wanted reviews of last time you started bumping your gums and you disappeared. You’re like a broken record, either shoot me that email (John@superbike.co.uk) or bugger off and play somewhere else, there’s a good lad.

    How nimble do you find this bike? Would you say the it is close in agility to the Monster 1200? I am looking for a sport bike that you can ride for a distance. Would you say this bike fits that bill? I currently have a Moto Guzzi Griso, looking for more power more agility with the ability to ride for greater distances in semi-comfort.

    The rear tire makes it a bit slower to tip in and it takes a little more effort as well. Miles more comfortable than a Monster though. I did 6 hours on mine last Sunday and hopped off feeling great.

    Chris M It’s not a nimble bike. It takes effort to get it around corners but it’s stable as a train. Amazing for long distances. If you want a nimble sports bike that you can also cruise, go for the Yamaha mt-10.
