Problem is if you put a 2.9 on a 1le motor it’s a matter of time before you bend a rod or crack a piston. Those motors don’t like boost

The LT1 in the SS is literally the same as the LT4 in the ZL1 just without a supercharger

@@ethanlancaster1707 LT1 motors don't have forged internals my dude. LT4s all have forged internals. This is why OP say you will bend a rod or crack a piston because its true. LT1 can't handle a lot of boost without replacing the rods and pistons. LT1 motor can probably handle around 600rwhp if you dont beat the shit out of the car. Anymore and you will crack a piston ring. Which is probably why the original owner of that Camaro sold it. Dude put a supercharger on a car that can't handle it for long.

@@josepineda9740 I say the car is good for 800whp+. Personally I wouldn't go over 800 cause things tends to bring when you're at those hp lvls.

Tight ring gap is the issue. They touch and crack the pistons ring land. Plenty of guys running around 600+ with proper fueling and spot on tune

Except the zl1 blower is 1.7 liter and the gen 5 whipple is a 2.9 liter which is 59% larger and basically capable of double the boost ie 20psi instead of 9psi. Obviously you know nothing. The car makes more power to the wheels a than a zl1 even does to the crank.

No. Using a stock tune from either Whipple or Roush is safe and no internal mods are needed.

So I've got this exact car, down to the color. Has the owner had any computer/fault code issues with the Supercharger added? I'd love to get an extra 150 HP

Timmy R your better off spending the super charger money on a different cam and headers. Easier on the internals and you get that great cammed engine sound.
