Karlos Losintos he had it in manual mode, an hit the rev limiter after the launch. He thought it was in D and it would auto shift.

wolfmannn2008 no, he was late doing the shifting, pass me everytime in my bmw 335i 2009 :(

@@DR4GNFIRE27 no, wolfdude is right, he wanted to launch it and failed cause he had it in manual, thats why after failing the launch he moved the transmission to normal mode then to sport mode again, to set it on 'auto'

Yes and no. In M cars you do launch control in Manual mode, it's required, however it WILL autoshift for you while in launch control mode still. I can understand the mistake driving so many cars.

Ive driven many 840s and 850s and every time it feels more of a luxury car rather than a sporty one which many seem to think, but thats a personal opinion. I like it as it is, great car

Everyone hating on the interior... I don't know if you people have seen the interior of the old 8 series or not, but it wasn't at all extravagant. It was instead simple and sleek, and I think that it has aged quite nicely. This interior of the new 8 series seems to hark back to that simple styling, and I can respect an interior that doesn't have 20 iPads that will be outdated in 5 years in my face. If you want an interior bedizened with RGB lighting, gold plates, and diamond embroidery, go get another car. BMW is keeping it simple and timeless and paying homage to the earlier 8 series. They're not trying to re-invent the wheel, and I can respect that.

I was about to comment the same thing. After seeing the Audi/Mercedes interiors, I thought it was a car from 2010.. but that diamond shifter.. yeah. definitely needed for that one.

Great car. I’d go over the launch control sequence again. Launch control wasn’t activated or it would have said it in the display. That was just brake torquing it.
Seems like the launch is a little laggy?? Maybe the next Gen could benefit from an electric motor onboard for getting off the line like the E53 Mercedes. I noticed that the 440i grand coupe also suffered from a little lag off the line too when I drove it.

To my eyes, the new dashboard looks rather boring, which wouldn't be a real problem if the 850i was not priced so high - doesn't have any character at all. As much as I don't like the wide digital displays of the S Coupe, that dashboard still gives the driver a sense of occasion, while a Porsche 911 dashboard leaves you in no doubt that you're sitting in a Porsche. And of course, like the Porsche, the rear seats on the 850i are really not meant for people, unlike the rear seats of the S Coupe. Just my personal opinion, even though I am a big BMW fan.

CODI_FIRST The 8 Series is a coupe version of the 7 Series. The M6 competes against the RS7. Audi doesn’t have a car in the S63 coupe/M8 segment yet. I’m sure there will be soon however.

BMW could of made more of an effort to make the interior feel special since this is the top of the range, looks so similar to much cheaper models. I would want a more luxury interior when the price is luxury.

Bob Herps but I can say the same about bmw. I can say u buy an m4 for the performance but people still shit on its interior? Why don’t people shit on Porsche’s interior for not looking as nice as a lambos with its jet fighter interior or like a Ferrari with its much nicer quality leather? U can pay 300k to buy a gt2rs that has the same interior as a 70k Cayman but no one wishes Porsche would put in some effort like this comment asks of bmw.

@@LegendInThaMakin I personally find Lamborghini's interior ugly as hell, don't know why everyone is so obsessed with it. For the rest it has to do with respect and status that people give a brand, apparently Porsche gets more respect and status than BMW.
What is that sensor on the gauge cluster?
Those narrow roads are nutso.
What's the purpose of the segment in the top middle of the instrument cluster? Looks like IR leds.
Are they making an 850d with the same engine as the 7 series?
I might be the only one feeling this way but I'm gonna say it anyway.. This car kinda doesn't live up to the old 6 series to me. Sure, it looks nice, but the features are so exaggerated on the exterior it's pretty much just 'aggressive' and not 'sexy' and 'elegant' like the old 6 was. The interior is on the extreme end of the spectrum.. it's so boring. Functional, yes, but boring.

No, not the only one. I'm not sure what this brings to the party - I suppose it's XDrive and with big hp and torque, that can only be a good thing. The 0-60mph is outrageous, Supercar territory. No doubt it's a tech fest - . Anyway, a 4.4 V8 is a cracking thing no matter what suit it's wearing. I think the old 6 Series were splendid, especially Alpina version (actually Alpina version of anything is good with me).
