I mean think about it, who is the only one so far that can break the record? If Thor can´t accomplish it then there´s gonna be a good gap of time to the time is finally broke, but so far, Thor is gonna beat him.

for the deadlift there's a lot of platemath downtime. They like to have a few big gaps rather than tons of smaller ones for commercials. But they make it work for the NFL so I yeah, you'd think this would make better daytime content than the hours of talking heads they run.

I stayed up late (I'm not on the American continent) to watch this and was very excited when it all started. However, I soon realized this was not going to be a fun competition to watch. I assume you have watched this, so you know what happened. Caron got hurt and dropped out (he was already injured, I heard), Pritchett seemed to barely escape serious injury, Brian's first pull seemed slow to me already and it looked like he hurt himself later, but I'll have to say highlights were Licis performing well and most others too; and Thor had this easily, even going for the 50K and giving a valiant effort. The stone was a hard event to watch too, because the competitors were not really able to practice this event exactly and one slip or tactical mistake can cost you lots of points. In a way, this adds to the unpredictability and demands that the competitors have a lot of resilience. It's a real strongman event, brutal and tough. It also allows for shake-ups, which happened, although Thor dominated again, predictably because of the stone is Icelandic and that fact alone must boost Thor's mental fortitude like nothing else. It would be like an American carrying an American flag through a battlefield. Nothing except death would make him drop it. Shaw dropping the stone so early while so many others moved past him is a serious blow to him and his supporters :( Wheel of Pain sounds like another matter of life and death, not a good event to come back on if you're behind and probably hurt. I will continue to watch. It's like waiting for a trainwreck to happen. I have huge respect for these people. Where a normal person would stop, they push on.

They then put up the distances from the second event, directly followed by the points table for total points from the two events of day 1, right at the end of the video. Hope that makes sense... Strongman isn't most sports; contests on this scale, with live feeds, etc, have only been happening for a couple of years. The longevity and format of the WSM contest is a misnomer because some TV rights ownership means that they'll probably never have a live feed like the Arnold Classic now has.
