    2020 Ranger XLT 4x4 - 5 Star daily 91 tune,aFe intake, aFe down pipes 0-60 5.7 sec @5000ft. Cost me about $1,200 for everything. I also have a 93 performance tune, but I haven’t run it in the truck yet. Thinking, maybe 5.5 0-60 🤷🏻‍♂️

    Pretty underwhelmed by the results. Bang for buck, there’s tunes available that do considerably better on the dyno and on the street without an antiquated K&N filter and pointless FMIC replacement. Back to the drawing board, Steeda

    antiquated? oiled reusable filters are still the best way to go for high air flow and longevity just because K&N filters have been around a long time doesn't mean they are outdated. In fact it means they are proven time and time again especially if you take care of them like you should.

  • @brianchoate7917

    Dino oil has been around for longer than K&N filters. Leaf springs have been around longer than K&N filters. Does that mean they are the best? A K&N uses outdated technology and while it does flow more air, it does so by also flowing more contaminants in that air. There are many aftermarket options that use synthetic media and flow more air while filtering to a smaller micron count when compared to stock paper and yes, antiquated cotton gauze and oil media.

  • @Trumplican

    @Trumplican

    @@brianchoate7917 that's about the dumbest comparison I've ever heard. I didn't say they were good because they were old, I said they are still good even though they are old. They do not let more contaminants in thats what a prefilter cover and the oil is for. They are excellent filters for atv's/dirt bikes in high dust/dirt environments but talking cars/trucks most people don't even get into that type of environment so even if they weren't good for that, which they are, the point is usually moot. You keep your restrictive synthetic filter if it somehow makes you feel safer just because it's "newer"

    @@brianchoate7917 zero r&d LOL since youre gonna say ive done no research i gotta tell you i've been a powersports mechanic for almost 2 decades building race engines and trying all kinds of different brands of just about every performance part out there using not the seat of my pants but expensive tools including a superflow dyno which i kinda doubt you have access to so im thinking you dont know shite. I never said you need a prefilter but if youre gonna be in high dust/debris areas or in snow its good to have one. just because you think your favorite air filter is the best doesnt mean it is. you sound like one of those guys that had an old abused K&N filter and were too dumb to realize it was bad and now thinks all of them are like that. pretty pathetic bud.

    Run a stock ranger on 93 octane and you will see an increase in both HP and torque. The intercooler is an expensive upgrade when all of the heavy lifting is done by the software upgrade. Is the new intercooler a nice product? - yes. Is it really needed?, no. Thanks for sharing.

    That $$$ intercooler won't really shine unless you do back-to-back dyno runs, simulating heat soak. (Or run for an extended time under boost.) For that kind of money, I'll be installing a Methanol injection system. Much cheaper than that expensive intercooler, REALLY lowers IATs, lowers EGTs, plus it cleans the intake valves on a DI engine.

  • @remembermorrison
    @remembermorrison Жыл бұрын

    Underwhelming. 1st, stock intercooler is pretty beefy, the best improvement is to change the intercooler pipes. It's a shame the Whipple kit doesn't include intercooler pipes. 2nd, just go with the Ford Performance tune over this Whipple tune. Or if you actually want to make power, go with Livernois Motorsports, who make the Ford Performance tune, or Tory at Unleashed.

    torque is way more important than HP especially in 1/4 mile runs. more torque you will need a factor more in HP to beat me at the end of the track. the price tag for all of this is way out of line for the performance gain. lastly its a truck and again torque talks and hp is along for the ride.
