Toyota oil filter... amzn.to/36MkLZC
I previously loosened the plastic oil filter prior to using a impact wrench on a plastic oil filter holder. don't do that or you will damage it!!!!!!!!!! just sayen , don't drink used oil either !
...i would recommend OEM...

I didnt see your son install a new crush washer on the oil pan drain plug. Also, if you take that small plug (the one with the small O-ring) first and drain with the plastic insert, all that oil wont spill out as the filter drops. Outside of that I love how your son was involved. My grandson, now 7, has been helpng on my Tundra the past year. He loves it!

Drain the filter housing before removing it. Motivx tools has a nice tool for it but quality filters ship with a plastic tool to accomplish this. These TRD pros benefit from installing a valve drain plug on which you can use an extension rubber pipe to route the flow of oil away from the skid plate. Valvomax or fumoto valves work well.

All tundras have that drain feature not just the trd pro. But the trd pro does benefit from having a hatch in the skid plate to allow access to the filter housing which normal tundras don’t have.

Umm....you were suppose to drain the filter before unscrewing it. Had you purchased a Toyota OEM filter, which I believe is your best choice, it comes with the special plug to stick into the bottom to release the oil stuck in the filter cartridge. You unscrew it after that. No mess. Just tryin to help.

i agree with you on the oem.... we did do that and very little came out ...not sure why...the video was too long and i edited that out. this was the second oil change. first done at toyota .

@@AndreiDoroftei You gotta really put the pressure on those plastic tabs the OEMs ship with, to get it to click far enough in to really drain the filter. The MOCW Oil Filter Drain Tool on Amazon is under $15 and it's amazing for draining oil out of the filter housing before unscrewing, reduces mess tremendously, just remember to size the hose length and trim before use, it comes too long. Loosen the drain tool brass valve, screw it into the housing, tighten the drain valve portion, easy money. My next oil change, I'm going to install a Fumoto drain valve as well, and put a drain hose on that. Reduce the mess of the Tundra oil change to zero.

I had a similar experience when I took my truck to the Toyota dealer for a "free" oil change. They made a mess and it turned out that they did not even change the filter. That was the last time I took my vehicle to a dealer for any kind of maintenance. I will never go back to a Toyota dealer unless it is for a serious issue that falls under the warranty. I do all my own oil changes now.

Hello Sir, I noticed that on 8:45 where your son is resetting the maintenance code, I can see that you have RED stitching on your steering wheel. I know you have a PRO and it comes with a leather steering wheel. Did you wrap the leather OEM steering wheel with another leather with RED stitching?
