Not a truck but I had an 02 Toyota Camry LE standard i bought for $1,200 & imo it is the Greatest year for camries. The interior was extremely roomy & the trunks are giant. It had 240k i sold it with 280k for $1,200. Same price i bought it for after 2 years of me driving it. I didn't want to sell it she ran like a brand new car. I never had to fix anything, ever! But i didn't pass for my license in time & i needed a place to live so i dold it for down deposit money. She sold in the first month if sitting on the side of the road. The very first person to stop & test drive bought it Edit: this was 2018 when i bought it

I bought a new 2017 Tundra SR double-cab with the 4.6L. Six seasons and 50k miles later I’m still in love. I’ve always said it’s the “last real truck.” No gimmicks, steelies, AC, 4x4, Bluetooth and dual bench seats. It’s all anyone needs. We only use it to tow our 6000LB Parker pilothouse boat, road trips (smooth as a Lincoln), and to tow an enclosed trailer. I should have it for another 10yrs easy. Way to go, Toyota cheerleader Scotty!

While that's true, a lot can be said to buy a 15-17 f150 with the 5.0. You get the super reliable and powerful 5.0, and the stout 6spd auto. The 5.0 is faster, can tow more, and gets better mpg than the tundras like Scotty is talking about. I considered a tundra but the Ford in those years is simply better.

Even the prior 09-14 6R80's in f150's was excellent, with the only issues were fittings on the cooler. Easy fix for those, but that's not even an issue on the 15-17 5.0 f150's because that was revised. If this was the 10 speed, you maybe would have a point, but even then those are stout.

Well worth it I saw transmission temperatures dropped dramatically and that is the life of your transmission were talking about. I also have a 2017 tundra and that truck came with the transmission cooler already installed. I purchased a 2016 Ford F150 with the Ecoboost and really had no issues, but the paint quality and fit and finish of the truck was just not up to par. I did like the motor though. I put a lot of miles on my vehicles in a short amount of time. The best MPG I got out of my F150 was 22 mpg and that was rare. If your running 75-80 on the interstate (like I do), it dropped to 17. I had never owned a Toyota, but know a lot of people with Tundra's and they swear by them. I decided to ditch the F150 and purchased a 2020 Tundra Platinum 4X4 Crew Cab. It was somewhat hard to find. IMHO, it was the best deal out there vs the F150 Platinum and Chevy/GMC. I absolutely love everything about the truck and don't think it is outdated at all. I did not want to wait on the New V6 turbo model, I wanted the tried and true V8. It lacks no power and believe it or not, on the road running 75-80 I am getting 19 mpg. My 2004 buick century is still going strong after 19 years. No dash lights, just gas, oil, tires and brakes and a couple small odds and ends have been needed through the years. Its paid for itself more times over than I know.

I had a 2018 Tundra Platinum and sold it to the local Toyota dealer for $2800 more than what I paid for it 3 years previously. I did love that truck but I love my 2022 Silverado 2500 with the Duramax engine and 10 speed transmission even more. So many trucks , so little time...

Thing is that Silverado HD is so much more of a truck than the Tundra. Tundra is more reliable (the past gen) but not by much when it comes to HD series. You lose some you gain some 🤷‍♂️. I know cause I own both trucks for my business

I have a 2013 and I absolutely love it. Yes they have terrible gas mileage, but the torque is honestly one of my favorite aspects about the truck. I have a 4x4 and I rarely need to put it into four wheel drive. At this point, it’s a challenge for me to see if I can go through some of these relatively rigorous trails with even having to switch it on.

Have a 07 limited tundra , been in the family since 09 best truck ever never gave a single issue except for the radiator of course it’s got 260k miles now and runs like a beauty pulls like it did when it was younger and everything held up amazingly. This truck was used for its built purpose, towing excavators every other week enjoying the truck of course, maintenance and upkeep is key.

I'm debating between a 21 or 22 TRD pro now. Leaning hard towards the 21. The new ones look tamed. The 21 just looks like a big aggressive truck. Not to mention all the great things I've heard about the 21's.

I have a '22 Tacoma TRD sport 6MT (thank you Toyota) in the same color (Lunar Rock). It's a pretty unique color, even within the flat gray category. Under various lighting conditions it's sometimes a flat primer gray, other times more minty. Plus it seems to hide dirt and salt well. IMO it looks great on both trucks and the 4Runner, but I don't love it on the RAV4. Of course tastes vary, but it seems LR has been a popular choice.

2013 4x4 8 foot bed 2 door 'work truck' tundra still works great. Only problem has been it would not start and 3 batteries have been replaced, though I'd consider that wear and tear so nothing broke. It has roll up windows and manual door locks with a key ignition. Headlight plastic getting yellow and bought a $20 kit to fix. The wildpeak all terrain tires (same thing newer TRD pro gets stock) are kinda noisy, but grip well in all conditions and I wear noise canceling ear buds when driving anyway. I can haul 2500lb in the bed just fine despite rating saying 2k. Tows 10k fine, but you feel it. I'd prefer a bigger 3/4 ton truck that can tow 14k or haul a pallet of concrete for an upgrade. Was checking out reviews of the newer generation and disappointed...people are forced to get a dodge ram or ford super duty if I wanted something bigger. I wish toyota made a v8 heavy duty 'truck for work.'

Oh empty truck gets up to 18 MPG highway on longer trips or babying it. Shorter trips it's around 15-16 and that's more realistic in mixed driving. Just city, it's 13 or less. Towing 10k mostly highway really depends if there are many slopes or stop and go, but somewhere between 10 and 15 MPG. I don't think the new generation is all that much better so don't really see the point of getting rid of the v8 aside from trying to inch closer to electric power...the hybrid does have more power and torque, though the engine is not where the tundra was ever lacking.
