I see that you recorded a different video of the Bowers and Wilkins using the same recording equipment. This allowed me to compare sound quality back to back and the difference is unbelievable. Bowers & Wilkins is just the best... I hope I can afford it at some point soon. Have been saving up for an XC60... let's see if I can make it. Thanks for all your videos.

I'm so happy my 2017 XC90 T6 R-Design came equipped with the Bowers & Wilkins audio system, however I'm very curious to hear how the mid-level Harman-Kardon systems sound as well. Their integration into the 2018 Volvo lineup adds a stylish design element with the door mounted speakers. This base audio system doesn't sound bad at all with the improved subwoofer.

Yes, XC60 HK would be interesting...

Anybody know if it's easy to upgrade the standard system aftermarket? I'm thinking about getting the XC60 used and can't find any with the Harmon Karden or B&W already fitted within my budget of 34k? Therefore thinking of buying the car I want and replacing the stereo system afterwards??

Thanks Kris, very interesting, I think the system sounds ok for most people, I do believe though, that too many manual adjustment options is confusing for most people, graphic equalisers are a real pain in the butt, much prefer simpler tone controls , Treble and bass, basic controls would greatly simplify things for non- hifi anoraks. I for one would be happy with this sound system, as my present V70 sound system sounds pretty dam good to me, but it took me around six months of fiddling around with a huge amount of mind boggling adjustments !! so unnecessary.

I agree with your comment. I played with it at a dealer and the controls are , as you said confusing and yet access to them is very difficult during driving.

The good point, in my Personal opinion, is that the standard high performance audio Systems in Volvo cars sound a lot better than others in their class if we do an apple to apple comparison. The B&W setup is at another level though, no doubt!!

I drove an Audi as a rental (2021 Q5 Premium was the trim level) and I had to keep the volume lower because at higher volumes it became tinny and hurt my ears. On the BW with Tidal running I can crank it to about 75% without the audio being stretched "too thin" when it's a "master" track. I find that I can't push it that far when it's a lower (but still great quality) "Hi-Fi" quality track. The BO 360 was good from what I remember on the few test drives I had with it, but very much behind the BW system in the Volvo. I ended up purchasing a S90 Inscription with the BW sound and I have zero regrets.

Tack så mycket Kris, I Volvo website there is only 3 different model for sound system of XC60! Standard, Harman Kardon and B&W How did you manage to order an upgraded Subwoofer :| since here in Sweden that option is not available :( anyway, It is appreciated to share and test a Standard version without any upgrade, then me and so many other people can find the differences :) Thank you

mahdi Moha You get the subwoofer with the standard stereo if you order the T8.

Kris Rifa always captures different elements of the Volvo driving experience in his videos which can prove difficult. Still, he always does an exceptional job. I am unfortunately not impressed by the standard sound system. I would advise against going with the standard system if you enjoy listening to music while you drive. I find myself, at times, driving in silence when in my XC60 T8 with the standard sound system. Otherwise...it is a joy to drive save the brakes which are inordinately sensitive. Should've listened to you in your earlier vids, man. Shucks.

Volvo being a premium brand should have the subwoofer as standard...it's so frustrating that the subwoofer options is only exclusive for some countries...

Surely it would be on your spec sheet supplied with your new car ? if no mention, then you must have the standard system.

Hesbonful Meaning low power speakers. Our skoda has vibrations so higher power audio installation on standard! Good to hear :D

OMG he spent first 2 minutes taking about the type of cars they have him test. Never watched- shut it off. Why must people babble on and on ? Get to the point !!!

who would test speakers with this kind of music? My ears are bleeding. There is so many good music in the world, from all periods. Please educate yourself, make some research, don´t support this kind of noise.

César Pires de Sousa please educate yourself mr earbleeder. To play music leagally on YT it either has to be royaltyfree or you have to buy the rights. If you’ll pay for it I have no problem testing with the music of your choice 😉😂
