2018 Specialized Turbo Levo 6fattie review

Спорт

My first ride on an Ebike was hilarious. I urge everyone to have a go on one of these, they are great fun. Any questions, leave a comment. I always reply. Enjoy!

Enjoyed your review. I'm nearly 62 and still love mountain biking but it is getting harder and harder. When I get my emtb it will return to being fantastic. If I was 32 I wouldn't need one but I do now. Brilliant looking Spec.

Thanks Mick, glad you're still riding. My dads in the same situation as you and i think an E'bike is a fantastic option. They're going to become a common sight on the trails very soon, whether people like it or not, keep riding bud

Great film. I thought I was OK for life on my 97nailtrail. I had a stroke last year and felt beatup after every ride needed afix and got Levo so lm cover with mud all the time now on the Southdowns. Stoked!

got mine 4wks ago. used to often get out with a group on our normal mtb bikes and one mate on a levo .. he seams to be the one with the biggest smile on his face , so I was in the situation of needing a new bike as my scott genius is 4 yrs old , so it was decision time..... ebike or not !!!! so glad I went with a levo never had so much FUN ..... best way to explain it is .... you know way back when you dipped you toe into mtbing and got hooked , that's the feeling getting an E-Bike #batterypowerISthefuture ...........good honest review by the way

I rode a demo 3 or 4 months ago and it was a ton of fun. Have now injured my thigh and it's looking like I might have a long full recovery time so I'm strongly thinking of getting one after the new year so I can still ride .

I got a hip replacement a few years back it has definitely brought the excitement back. I am strong enough to pedal manually if I wanted to but these are intense and quiet. I ran down the roadies in my neighborhood yesterday ;-) Its on my channel.

What a great review and certainly echoes my first experience on a 2017 turbo levo 6 fattie plus after coming off a Trek remedy 9. I'm riding more, doing more runs and hurting less AND still getting a great cardio workout as your riding and not walking up the hills, or getting shuttles, so it IS a common misconception that you are doing less exercise, when you think about, your actually doing far more riding. For the knockers, I trust your still on your steel frame, fixed gear, V brakes with 26" bamboo rims??? Or have you embraced the advances in mountain biking??? Kim

I loved the review especially the battle of internal contradictions. I get it in a sense but now after building 2 Bafang based bikes and a Tangent Ascent. It is just another tool in the quiver. Your enjoyment of the ride which was evident by your laughter should be heeded. Just admit it, they are a blast. If you spent a little more time on them (which you most likely have by now) you would realize you can select the effort level you desire and enjoy a faster pace of ride. Kind of a freebie.

You obviously had a great time on that bike, I have to agree with you when you say the e.bike is fun. I've had a few test rides on e.bikes and loved the experience. The jury is out as to whether I'd buy one but for days when you're not firing on all cylinders the e.bike is the perfect solution. What gimbal are you using, the footage is very smooth, thanks.

yea, I got 4 eMTBs mainly Haibikes, and one BULLs Monster E FS fat tire. they are super fun and you can buy the older models for cheaper like all the 2017s so they can make way for the 2018s. next evolution of MTBing

Trail Crest people don’t understand is that you are actually burning more calories due to having more fun by going longer and faster, every major big bike company has an eMTB, what used to take me two 1/2 hours, now takes me 45 minutes to complete, plus u don’t need stinking lifts, the uphill flow is awesome, review them all, I’ll be a fan for life lol

Reminded of my first ride on a e-bike a few weeks ago. laughing and smiling the whole time. THE most fun ive ever had on a mountain bike and i own the following and evil wreckoning. I have a turbo levo on order so one of my bikes has to go. Can’t believe you said you wouldnt buy one after all that fun you seemed to be having. No brainer for me. THe carbon expert is probably 6 pounds lighter and felt poppy and playful as any bike ive ridden which makes zero sense.

I purchased one of these bikes from Rutland cycles uk the chain snapped after 28 days and recked the front chain guide, the retailer and manufacturer offered no support even though the bike was new. Also the battery cost £700 but has no lock on it, the charging socket is at the lowest point on the bike which gets covered in mud it should be positioned in a cleaner place. It also has to many gears which adds to chain fatigue. For the money it should be designed better with a stronger chain a lighter frame and 25mph limit instead of 20mph This is meant to be a mountain bike I’d really expect it to be impossible to snap a chain or similar durability and longevity to a normal bike or at least last a year

Thats hugely disappointing. Rutland and Specialised take note. On the back of this comment i will now will be thinking very carefully as to what i might purchase. Looks like a Trek Powerfly 7 might be my better option.

I’ve changed my opinion and decided I would buy one to accompany another bike. I originally said I wouldn’t buy one as I felt like it would be taking away the exercise and training aspect of riding, but if it’s that much fun then why not 👍

Trail Crest One take away from your vid was use/availability of shuttle. We don’t have so if so much fun downhill then the e assist for uphill allows more runs and perhaps energy usage. Point being use more energy (but more bike time) on bike than with shuttle!!

Just looked into it and you are correct. The Specialized team did tell me it was a 2018 bike :/ I would imagine that my first ride on an ebike, 2017 or 2018, would be pretty much identical as i did not get particularly technical. Thanks for pointing that out though Damien
