You need a driving course man.. You throw away 2 liters of diesel already on the parking lot driving that long in 1 st gear with that many rpm's on the engine.. -.-

  • @Ariskot007

You might need a driving course yourself if you think that you need to upshift to prevent your engine briefly reaching 2000 RPM at 1st gear. This isn't a bloody truck and the RPM drop between 1° and 2° is almost 50%. He would be a smidge above the idle RPMs at 2nd gear. Slightest deceleration would trigger the anti-stall function of the ECU. Only strange practice that I noticed on the video was clutch-in or neutral too early before the junctions and also at the descent from the parking lot.

@@Ariskot007 He could actually start of in 2nd gear... And every time he accelerates, 1-3-5th gear or 1-2-4th gear.. Depending on the road and traffic.. So many errors..

@@andersnielsen6044 Why would you ever start at 2nd gear? Again - this is not a truck where you can skip gears when empty. This is a roadcar with 5 long gears and huge RPM drops between them. It is designed to actively force the driver to use low revs in the first place. Ratios of this particular VAG gearbox are following: 3,78 1,94 1,19 0,82 0,63 You would need to redline 1st to skip to the 3rd without lugging the engine. Driving it like you suggest would cause unnecessary stress for engine and dual mass flywheel by torsional vibrations at high torque/low rev situation. Such way of fuel saving can be pretty expensive on mechanical repairs...

Is true the Octavia actually is little overpriced, but there is not comparison with the model you said: maybe the Mazda 6, but the Mazda 3 is completely other category. And Megane? Really you want compare a French Renault with a German VAG car? Come on!! Škoda is in general a better car in every point!! Maybe, maybe, Peugeot or an Opel Insignia, Ford Focus/Mondeo (I think the Mondeo comparison apply better to the Superb)

The mazda 3 and this are both compact cars. The 3 has excelent build quality and a superb design, while the entire renault lineup has received a serious upgrade in regards to quality with their latest models. So yes, I do want to compare a Renault with this thing. Plus the Megane and the 3 both offer a lot more bang for your buck.

The interior of the Octavia just looks so cheap compared to the competition. Not to mention you need to purchase at least 3k euros in option packs to infuze it with modern features some of the compatitors take for granted (such as led lights and keyless entry). Its just not worth it! Doesn't even look good. It sports the trademark VW blandness.

Just Someone the Mazda (all) and Megane (last version) have nice design (exterior & interior), but evidently we use different standard for measure a car, I don't buy a car because have led lights or colourful dashboard. I use the car for work and move the family The Octavia is much more bigger than the Mazda 3 and mechanically better than the Megane.

To each their own. However I am not certain that vag products really are mechanically better compared to the competition these days. They employ older tech for their engines, they are overpriced and they look really bland. Plus I think that the whole "vag reliability" has become somewhat of a myth these days since many other brands offer products just as good at cheaper prices: Mazda, Ford, Toyota, even Renault with their current lineup show they are starting to be a serious competitor. My point is: Vag are starting to fall behind.
