I do not know why I began watching this concert, but at the certain moment I suddenly decided to watch "The King and I" for the first time and then I found out it is Yul Brynner's 100th birthday today! APPLAUSE~STANDING OVATION~BRAVO! FABULOUS CONCERT IN CELEBRATING AND EMBRACING ALL PIONEER HERITAGE! THANKS TO ALL WHO MADE THIS POSSIBLE! A shout-out to personal family pioneer ancestors...who crossed the plains with the David H. Cannon Company! They left Florence Nebraska on June 1, 1861...and made the trek westward a total of 71 days...with a group of 252...entering the Salt Lake Valley on August 11, 1861! Happy day! All is well!

I will forever be grateful for the great songs that Rogers and Hammerstein wrote! I also would like to give love and thankfulness to my eldest sister, Elnora, who gave me my name!

To all those who want a more pioneer celebration aren’t we all pioneers? We need a variety to be able to bring lots more people to the conference center because if it’s the same old hymns it’s not going to let more people in and a variety is very good!

Loved this concert! I was at a baptism for my ward and almost forgot about it. I was screaming how we were all gonna miss it, then even more when I saw Hammerstein’s grandson. I told my bishop (who was giving me a ride back from our chapel) that it was gonna be a good concert and he ought to step on it. Absolutely loved the Rodgers and Hammerstein music.

Beautiful and magical. Secular music back in the day was pure and unadulterated and had meaning. Anyone could sing it. Rogers and Hammersteins version of Cinderella is one of my favourites with all of it "falderalls and fiddle dee dees"😁. God bless and happy new year 2023 to all❤️💯🌲🙏🏾

Matthew and Laura are beautiful together and solo. What a beautiful concert. I wish I could have attended. Actually, I was in the Salt Lake Valley when this happened but I was way too late to get a ticket for the event. I'm glad that we have KZread recordings to enjoy after the fact. I have always loved Oscar and Hammerstein musicals. Some more pioneer themed music would be nice though.

This is due to legal reasons, and the cost required to produce this many discs. The annual Christmas concerts are, somehow, easier to distribute. I believe it is due to Bonneville Distribution being more involved in the production of that show.

Beautifully done. I, too, however, agree with Mr. Danielsen. It felt a little empty at the end as our whole family sat down to watch this and were hoping to see a little more of the LDS pioneer heritage brought to light. My children also felt a bit uncomfortable about the negative comments made about children and the mention of morphine addiction. Not terribly inappropriate, but just didn't seem to fit the setting. They usually sit through entire performances but asked if we could turn it off and seek for something more "pioneer" like to watch.

A beautiful event. I have a misgiving though. I think our Pioneer Day celebrations should feature those who share our LDS pioneer heritage, even if they are lesser-knowns. It shouldn’t be about Broadway; it should be by and for those who sacrificed crossing the plains. I think our MTC Christmas celebrations are where we can share joy and welcome guest stars.
