    Well you said the React/Response Shot 285. You did hit a 305 on the Chrono with the Turmoil so that would be 20fps faster technically. Also I don’t believe your chrono is very accurate. Love your reviews, I’ve watched ever one of them. Keep up the good work Steve!

    Owned this bow (RZ) for a year and I prefer to shoot it over two of my other bows. Is it accurate, easy to draw and stays steady on the back wall. If speed is your goal, get a Bear Escape or the PSE Full Trottle type bow.

    I have a Turmoil (non-RZ). 58# @30" - 379 gr (29") arrow = 296 fps through a chrono Pinwheel has the estimated speed as 299 fps with that setup. Happy with mine.

    You need built in top cam lean because of the cable slide moving in as you draw, if not you'll have cam lean at full draw.

    I shot this bow just yesterday at my local Cabels's here in North Carolina. I had just about the same reaction as Stephen. I was very pleasantly surprised at the draw cycle. I'm shooting a Bowtech Invasion now and have had this bow since 2012. I also felt that there wasn't much valley but feel that I would adjust to it rather quickly. No surprise on the speed. Obsession consistently overstates their speed ratings. But I'm considering buying. It was priced as a complete package with quiver, stabilizer and sights for $799.00. Components were nice except for the sight. But even after replacing the sights with something nice you'd have a great hunting set up for less than a thousand dollars

    I shot it as well. Back in the day. I thought it was a nice bow for the money. Now I have a 2020 model bear paradox. Wt a Trophy ridge hitman stabilizer. Trophy ridge REACT pro 5 pin site. And a Qad ultrarest drop away. Ibo of 330 fps. Great bow.

    How would the Obsession Turmoil compare to the PSE Xpedite with the high letoff modules? Are they similar in feel and smoothness? According to the IBO speeds, they are comparable, and in both of your reviews you shot really well with the turmoil and with the PSE Xpedite on the high letoff modules.

    Steven, as you mentioned, these new Obsession bows "have Kevin Strother written all over them", obvious similarities in appearance with Elite bows which he had a major influence & success with. Can't understand why they didn't feature the preferred binary style system on this particular model though, observe how these hybrid cams are losing their popularity with manufacturers. Look forward to seeing your reviews on the Obsession target models, particularly the appealing Final Pro X. It will only take a few out there in some respected hands on the target shooting line for these bows to take off as they deserve. So nice. ;-)

    IBO of 350 seems a bit off by Obsession. I think the real speed test is for the Fixation, the one I would be interested this year. Otherwise they have coolest looking bows that shoot well.

    When he tested the Epix (which has an IBO of 340fps) it went through the chrono at 305fps so the Turmoil should have done 315fps if its claimed IBO was accurate

    To those who say Obsession does not inflate their numbers: No one expects to shoot 70# speeds at 60#, but reduction in speed has proven itself to be measurable and fairly predictable when you factor in draw weight, draw length, arrow weight, IBO rating, and amount of weight added to the factory string (i.e. peep sight, d-loop, and kisser button; does not include the speed nocks added by the manufacturer.) It breaks down like this: 10 pounds of draw weight = 20fps 1 inch of draw length = 10fps 3 grains of arrow weight = 1fps 10 grains of weight on string = 5fps 350IBO: At 29 inch draw length (-10)= 340 60# draw weight (-20)= 320 325gn arrow (+8.33)= 328.33 ~10gn d-loop only (-3.3) = 325.0 So, at best, this bow is 20fps slower than it should be (according to Steven's best chronograph reading) and 27fps as per his lowest. Even if this bow is not tuned perfectly, it should not be coming up short by this much if it is supposed to produce 350fps at IBO standards (which, admittedly, have tons of wiggle room to overestimate performance.)

    Can’t always go with the 10 pounds of draw weight = 20 FPS. I saw a guy shoot same arrow at 64lbs and 70 lbs and got a 18fps difference on the chrono. And iv also seen 3 obsession bows be set on close to or exact IBO settings and shoot 6-7 FPS OVER their IBO rated speed. So honestly you can do all the math you want but to truly test IBO rating, you need to set that bow up to IBO settings.

    Well interesting you say that - I was shooting the 3D Perform and was shooting great, but the Perform 40" I am struggling. I think it is the poundage. The Perform is much faster so I am finding I shake more with 60# than the 50# 3D. The Perform is hurting my shoulder, but it is super fast.

    Archery Supplies thats awesome, I know a state shooter that actually prefers 35ata bows even for target because he likes the way they balance. I also know someone who shot a 33inch ata mathews in a state comp really well as well. Would love to see a side by side comparison. Also know a shooter I believe in the UK who shoots a Wake for target and thats a 5 inch brace so I think this would make a great series

    Obsession Speed test = FAIL. Nothing new here. Very nice shooting bows, but why does Obsession always over inflate the speed ratings on their bows. In there defense they do advertise "up to 350 fps" Noone actually knows what that means.

    No one over inflates the speed of their bows. You have to read or listen how they achieved the speed. Most of the time it's at their longest draw length and the highest draw weight of the bow. Yes there are people who do know what it means. A little research you can find out everything you need to know about archery.

  • @TheSouthernObsession

    @TheSouthernObsession

    It’s pretty simple actually that “up to 350” is they have averaged 350fps at the longest draw length and most weight on the limbs. Obvisously you won’t get the same speeds at 60 pounds that you will at 80 pounds shooting the same arrow. Also won’t get the same speeds at 70 pounds at 26 inch draw and 70 pounds at 30 inch draw.
