    This was the first race I've been able to attend in person, I'm so glad I did. If you haven't been trackside yet, try and make it happen, there's really nothing like it. John reads my tweet at 52:04. What a great guy.

    I would recommend it, you wont necessarily need it all the time but you'll know when you're too close for aural comfort. The Corvettes are extremely loud, and the Fords are much louder than I thought they would be. The cameras don't do these cars justice, except for the 911 RSR, it sounds amazing on camera and in person.

    Considering this entire track can fit in my driveway, it was a pretty good race. Seriously, how many times are we going to tolerate the Porsches bumping other cars off? It's always "there might have a slight touch"... "was that a rub?".. "oh just a racing incident". Bottom line is that for a while now the 911/912 guys have been total dicks, pushing their way through when they can't win fair and square.

    Like most of the other drivers as well. THE Tandy maneuver at the end of the race was nothing more, than a fight for position in a slightly harder fashion.

    FYI you must hand it to the Porsche teams for even being able to hang with the V8 cars and not fade quickly! Like you I once was a Porsche hater until I drove a few myself. That is all it takes to change your mind for good. Then I went out and bought a Audi A8S 4T That easily smokes stock Corvette Grand Sports all day long! And I am a GM man myself. Oops.

    JoeyRodz74 i'll never forget when the Porsche spun out the Corvette on the last turn at Long Beach just to let his teammate go thru. There was literally less than 5 mins left to race. That's why I hate Porsche as a brand right now.

    It was a GT-only race. Lime Rock is the shortest track they race on (1.5 miles), and the schedule's really tight due to the local ordinance that prevents them from racing on Sundays. Prototypes also skip VIR, GTLM cars don't race at Belle Isle, and GTD cars don't race at Long Beach.

    Sabbathbassdude Ramsay it's just a GT round. Some tracks don't have enough space for all classes. So sometimes it's easier to choose a few classes to run. There's some rounds the GTLM (GTE) or GTDs (GT3) don't run it.

  • @mijbau

    @mijbau

    Sabbathbassdude Ramsay also they aren't allowed to race on Sunday at LRP so they don't have a lot of time to get cars on track with a Friday Saturday schedule.

    Although I have a personal preference for the GTLM class, I am dissapointed to observe that there are no prototypes in this race. Only 18 cars is pretty low and, we've seen many more cars at once on this racetrack in the past. But, it is understandable that there is not enough space and, to be honest, the GTLM class and GTD class gives us such fantastic racing that the loss of prototype cars is easily forgotten.

    They would be vastly too expensive to build and run, most GT3 cars cost around a quarter million while a road going Chiron goes for 2.8 million, even a purpose built version made to be as cheap as possible would still cost faaaaar too much to run

    Nick Tandy is easily the dirtiest sportscar driver in the world, followed only by his Porsche teammates. He may be fast, but not fast enough to justify his driving. I'm surprised that Porsche hire factory drivers that make them look almost objectively bad. At least the Mercedes drivers in GTD aren't hired by Mercedes.

    I respectfully disagree. It's a small but fast track, similar in feel to Road Atlanta. Road Courses in my opinion are the most interesting (VIR, Road Atlanta, Laguna Seca, Watkins Glen, Angelssey, Brands Hatch ect). Almost no braking zones (mostly just trail braking) and lots of elevation changes. And if you go in person it's a beautiful place to be, sitting on green grass under large oak trees. You're also RIGHT at trackside and can walk freely around the whole track, no assigned seating. The exhaust sounds echo off the small mountain next to the track. Stand on the wooden bridge and watch the cars fly 15 ft under your feet at 120 mph, rumbling your chest. Decidedly NOT boring. Lastly, driving there is half the fun. The roads leading to Lime Rock are fast, winding 'mountain' roads that are a blast to drive on.
