2018 Mitsubishi Outlander SEL: Budget Three-Row SUV

The trend in the marketplace for 3-row sport utility vehicles is to keep adding more and more features, more advanced powertrains and tons of technology. What Mitsubishi has done is take all of that away, and give you all the rows with none of the frills. While some might miss all the luxury and technology, others will appreciate the price point of this truck.
While you can order the SEL trim with lane-departure warning, emergency braking and adaptive cruise, our test vehicle had the less-expensive ‘Premium’ package. It still gives you the 710-watt Rockford Fosgate stereo, but leaves off the safety features. The $30k price tag is a bargain in its class. Unfortunately, there are some compromises, starting with the engine, which just doesn’t have enough power for this big of a vehicle. The AWD drags down the acceleration too, leaving it pretty anemic in a straight line. The top-of-the-range GT version has a 3.0-Liter V6, so if you need some power, go with that version.
You do at least get Apple Car Play and Android Auto, so there’s plenty of connectivity with your favorite device. There is a limited amount of power ports and chargers, and one of the charge ports didn’t work on our test car, so that was a bit disappointing. As prevalent as handheld devices are in our lives these days, we need ample charging to keep them going while we’re on the go...

In my Outlander I get a lot better MPGs, I think that the AWD and cold weather affect it.

Nothing but good things to say about my 18 outlander, I get 35-36 steady highway and 26-28 mpg on roads with traffic lights on every city block with no effort, 30 city is easily attainable by coasting to red lights and accelerating smartly. When are reviewers going to realize that all new cars dont have to have a 300hp engine.

Wow you mpg claims are way off as for power it is enough considering it's a 4 cylinder...
I have the 2018 Outlander. Drove it to WI yesterday - registered 27.7MPG. Daily driving mix city hwy, we're getting 23.2MPG. Previously owned a 2007 Pilot. I couldn't be happier w this vehicle. Better handling around the city and perfect for snow. Only paid $22k for a 4WD ES tax and interest included. Regarding the build quality - the reviewer should know this is among the few SUVs that's all made and built in Japan. It definitely is not a luxury SUV. It's for practical folks!

Its odd how he bashes the vehicle then sums it up to say its a great value buy. I mean i guess i get the differences in the two but most people will be left with an umm let me look elsewhere opinion.

Yes I'm looking at 2 Outlanders next weekend, and I had the feeling of telling my husband let's look at something else until I read these reviews... will still give it a look

32K for this tiny 4 banger is too much, that's where Pilot LX AWD starts. Usually those are heavily discounted..For 32K you can get GT V6 any day
