Im actually quite impressed at the longevity of the 3.5 twin turbo. My father bought a used 2016 F150 at around 50k, changes oil religiously, and the only major service its had was the ford reccomended "once through" at around 100k. Hes at 190k and still running perfect, not to mention none of the plentiful extras that havent failed.

It very very heavily depends on year models. People shit all over Ford and just come to the conclusion they’re all bad vehicles. Yet my dads 2005 F150 4.6 Triton is currently sitting at 272k with completely stock powertrain still runs like a top, the heat JUST went out on it finally and that is literally the most major issue it’s ever had in 15 years and almost 300k miles. 2015-2017’s are extremely solid F-150’s. Can’t say the same for same year models Silverados

The toll collector walked back to us and told us that we were going to have to back up and exit the SunPass lane because the Navigator's electrical system shut down and because the gear shifter is electric, they couldn't even put it in neutral to push it out of the way, so they were having to wait for a tow truck. According to a quarter mile calculator 6800lbs takes ~468 wheel horsepower to get to a 14.2 quarter mile. I imagine the calculator is estimating some drag here too but yeah a big barn like this would have lots of drag, which would require even more power! I suspect you're right about it being underrated.

Why is it whenever some Auto Enthusiast talk about Lincolns and cadillacs, they always degrade them down to be nothing more than gussied up Fords and chevys, but call an Audi a gussied up Volkswagen, or call a Porsche 911 a Volkswagen Beetle with extra horses in its ass, and the same Auto Enthusiast snobs are damn near ready to burn you at the stake for daring to come for their precious European luxury name plates, because all they ever give anything European is reference and worship. I feel like no matter what Lincoln or Cadillac does, they really can't win for losing when it comes to these badge snobs. If they made more unique and premium products, but then slap on a more premium price tag, they would be considered far too extreme and pricey just because of the brand name ( look at reactions to the new Cadillac celestiq). But then, if they keep their products as being luxury versions of their more mainstream stablemates, but have more reasonable pricing, they get shot down for being cheap, warmed over excuses for luxury. They treat these Brands like GM and Ford should just give up and discontinue them, but then we'll gladly stand the line for the next BMW with a crappy overly plastic engine, worship the ground it leaks oil on, and vehemently defend its cheaper quality by swiping back with excuses like "but it's fast and handles well! I'd rather have an exciting car that needs fixing than a boring car that's built well!" I swear, some Auto enthusiasts' biases and hypocrisy knows no bounds.

I guess you have to figure out where a brand is just sharing parts and platform, and where it becomes more like badge engineering. It's not like non-US brands don't get pilloried for the same thing among auto-snobs, though it might not be so visible to the US market. Look at how Toyota's new Supra was greeted because it was based on the BMW Z4, or the Mazda Miata-derived Fiat Spider 124 before that. Though calling a 911 a Beetle with extra horses is stretching an analogy to breaking point - I'm pretty sure they share nothing in common bar maybe some financing details :D

The ending was excellent, love the feeling of melancholy mixed with nostalgia for things I’ve never done. If someone isn’t from America and wants to understand why we buy what we buy, and how those purchases make us feel, watch RCR episodes with very American cars. Comfort, size, anti-elitism, wealth born from good choices, pride of our past, all of it. Whether true or not, most of us feel that way, and when you step into a Yukon Denali, a Navigator, an Escalade, a town car, pickups, most Americans understand it. Even if it’s not their style or preference. RCR reminds me of our different, very silly, American car choices, and that I like the people who drive them.

Yeah, it's been kind of annoying that the algorithm just doesn't show people our stuff. But I also kind of get it, since we're not exactly the most advertiser/algo-friendly channel on here 😂 But that's why the people who click the bell and show up here every Monday mean more than ever. I really love my job, and seeing people still showing up at all is so cool. I'll never stop being grateful.

I worked as a salesman at a Ford Lincoln dealership during the 08 market crash. The GM would drive one as his demo, because we were always required to have one on site or on order but we sold 2 a year. As long as he had one, we didn’t have to order another one and we could mark it down to move it out.

Luxury cars ALWAYS depreciate like no tommorow. Mainly due to more to go wrong along with high running costs like insurance etc. My advice. Buy a cheap 7-10 year old luxury car - checking ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING, but fir god sake- treat it like "bangernomics" Sell it after a year before the money pit forms!

@@orderofmagnitude-TPATPTbh there is a lot more nuance. With makes like the aforementioned Lexus or brands like Acura or certain years/models of even some German makes u can have a great car. It’s just kind of reductive to say luxury cars turn into money pits when just about ANY car made in the last 5-10 years likely shares most parts with their corporate ‘luxury’ sibling.
