2018 Lexus LC 500: One of the Best Sports Coupes Ever

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Every so often, a car comes along that exceeds your expectations. Lexus has always made luxurious cars, but they still had Toyota bones and, therefore, sometimes lacked personality. But stunning the car world by producing an all-carbon-fiber supercar a few years ago, the V-10 powered LFA, Lexus showed they were serious about performance as well. Given the rise of the ‘F-Sport’ line of versions of different Lexus vehicles, quite a few of which we’ve reviewed here, we thought we were prepared for what to expect when the LC 500 showed up. We were wrong.
First of all, it pays to give a reminder that the little brother of this new super-coupe is the Lexus RC F, which costs over $80k, and as much as $90k with options. The LC 500 has a starting price of $93k, so I assumed that we’d be looking at a similar trim level, fit and finish and driving characteristics. Well, slipping inside the sleek new body shell for the first time, you’re immediately blown away by the level of detail on the interior. The leather on the door panels and dashboard are finished more like a Ferrari than a Lexus, and there are rich materials throughout. It is head-and-shoulders nicer than an RC F, and for not much more money...
Thanks for watching!

Glad you called them out on the bsm and rcta light. I hate those things. They use to have it as a button in the car that would stay lit but now they put it in the dash. Maybe some regulations that made them do that

" The LFA which didnt do the best " When it came to what exactly ? The LFA went down in history as one of the most magnificent cars ever made. Anyway. I honestly think the LC500 is the best car to come out of Japan in a very long time. Its the Japanese Aston Martin. Its built by the people who built the LFA. There is no other Japanese car made to this qauilty.. not from infiniti not from any other japanese brand. Lexus is the best Japanese brand luxury money can buy. How do you compare a car like this LC500 when there is nothing else like it on the market?

It was a limited production car of only 500 made. I'm pretty sure by now they all got sold. The LFA even after 5+years retains it's value of $400K. The lowest I've seen is $393K and some over $500K. The LC500 is a purchase the LFA is an investment. The next 10 years it will probably sell for close to a million at car auctions.

Please explain what you mean by LFA didn’t do the best . They sold every one of the 500 produced and for a car that was $375K at launch and is now over $1M , that is pretty good . Plus no one would argue that it has the best sounding engine note ever

Here's the things you are missing. This isn't a sports car and it isn't meant to be driven by somebody horsing around thinking he's a race car driver. This car does EVERYTHING WELL for driving on the public roads by people who have no desire to get into an accident or injure anyone by being stupid. Racing is done on racetracks. If you want to go racing, buy a race car and go as fast as you like. As for "Aston-Martin", that's an insult to this car. Owning an LC500 is all about making it past the repair shop and driving trouble free for a very long time. Those "other" cars may be faster, but you will pay big bucks because they are unreliable. So, why not be a grown up and discuss the facts that I've laid out? As for the trackpad, only dunderheads who haven't read the OWNER'S MANUAL complain about them because those of us who have read the OWNER'S MANUAL use VOICE COMMAND. In my almost five years of owning my InfraRed/Toasted Caramel 2018, I've used the trackpad at most ten times. Why would you even want to use it when talking is so much easier...AND SAFER? If I want to warm my seat I press a button and say "SHOW THE FRONT SEAT HEATER SCREEN". No muss. No fuss. I can call my wife, text a client, find a pizza joint I Iike, get directions to anywhere, change the radio station, listen to any song by any artist, make the car warmer or cooler and so much more...all without taking my eyes off the road. But then again, I read the OWNER'S MANUAL like an adult. The LC 500 is the closest thing to a PERFECT CAR for the public roads in production today. For idiot wannabe race car drivers who don't give a crap if they lose control and crash into some family of four going to visit grandma, there are faster cars. I would hope your next review is a bit more professional than this one. Read the OWNER'S MANUAL and tell your audience about the unique features of the car because only kids are interested in how many milliseconds it takes to shift from third to fourth gear. The LC 500 is loaded with more performance than anyone needs and it will never leave you stranded in the rain at 2 a.m. by the side of the road because some cheaply made electronic relay broke. It is without a doubt the finest GT car in production today.

Yes and no. Yes, it is one of the most reliable "exotics" on the market. No, because it's got basic features and supercar price tag.
