Alex in my opinion, you are by far the best car reviewer on youtube. 1) Your videos do not have any unnecessary music or drama 2) You straight away get to the point and stay on the point. 3) Your audio is neutral, not very enthusiastic neither too mellow. Just as a reporter should be. Thats why your videos are not distracting. 4) Your knowledge about the cars is astronomical. I mean you have the who damn catalog of car details at your fingertips. 5) Absolutely love your comparison and honest opinion. No one else does it better than you. I know your videos take time to make because of so much detail it requires, unlike other generic car reviewers. Keep up the good work. I am sure you deserve much more subs than what you have. P.S. This car is so damn ugly. Accord or Camry is way better any day.

I have to disagree..I think it looks way nicer than the Camry....Still on the fence myself about the new Accord vs the Sonata..overall favorite though is still the Mazda 6. Great Videos Alex.

Alex, of all the auto reviewers out there, I continue to applaud your “ above and beyond “ commentaries. You’re the only one who uses a 4 camera “ split screen “, and the only one who compares ALL trim levels side-by- side, so that we can see what we’re getting in each package. Your commentaries are thorough, concise, and well written. I think I’d rather have a 19 Sonata Limited 2.0 than a Tesla Model 3. I’d SAVE about $16,000, and select ECO MODE for city driving. Thanks Alex.

I have the 2015 2.0T Limited and I didn't have any hesitations recommending it over any of the competition, as no one offered the amount of features at it's price point. Unfortunately I can't say the same about the 2018 Sonata, as the other manufacturers have caught up in terms of features and styling and Hyundai has actually removed features from the previous revision. I would still recommend it for those looking for niche features, such as the ones mentioned and the remote app control (remote lock/start/temp control with Alexa and Google Home support). To answer Alex's question, I do like the styling of the Sonata, but I think it resembles the Elantra a little too much. I sometimes have a hard time distinguishing between the two at a glance and I think there shouldn't be a question of recognizing a higher trim car from a lower one.

japanwatchconnection seemed to only be a problem with the naturally-aspirated cars, and that too it was quite a few model years ago. they don't seem to be suffering the same issues any longer. I wouldn't buy this nor the optima in the base trim with the NA 2.4 anyways-- too spartan. like alex said, it's worth it to step up to eco / EX, save money in the long run with better fuel efficiency, have more of that torque, and get a fun little turbo engine.

It's really too bad that Honda has not provided you with a 2018 Accord to test. Hyundai has come along way over the years and this appears to be the best Sonata yet and I would personally be very interested to learn your thoughts on how the New Accord with the 2.0T compares.

I have a 2015 Sonata Eco. That was the only year you could get it with the tech package. The Eco is the most fun, but most dealerships get one or none. Nobody thinks to ask for it, so it’s nearly impossible to find them. It’s a real shame. I love the car and the gas mileage is incredible. 40+ MPG on the highway trips and it’s not a hybrid!

I am surprised that 1.6 T-GDI is not popular in USA despite the best fuel efficiency out there. Too bad, that engine is not available in Canada. It is must-have peppy engine. Even in Tuscon, 1.6 T-GDI can be pricey which is above 30k.

Thanks for the great reviews Alex. I totally agree with the comments of Solid Snake from 3 weeks ago. I would add to his point #3 that your audio is neutral. Some of the reviews out there cut to ad placements and the volume increases to the point where it just about is an assault on your eardrums. Some of the reviewers I no longer watch due to that factor. I have told several friends about the quality of your reviews and suggested they tune in. Keep up the great work.

Alex, Nissan is coming out with a new generation of the Altima for 2019. From what I read online, it's going to have a "love it" or "hate it" maxima-inspired design. Sadly, I don't think Nissan has done enough to entice buyers. The current Altima didn't impress me too much, so I got a 2017 Sentra SV with alloys, sunroof, etc., and saved myself a few thousand dollars. Great videos!

I like the new style of the exterior as it is not so bland like the previous year. The interior doesn't match the exterior design but it's clean and functional. I don't think it is as competitive as Honda and Toyota. Based on reputation I believe most of the public will choose the Accord and Camry over this car. I hope the mpg will improve as it's behind the competition and gas prices are expected to rise this summer.

Hyundai and Infinity need to come up with an update for the radio! Acess the treble control via Setup/Sound/Tone on display. My top pick is the 2018 Hyundai Sonata SE, which can be had at discount in Oregon and California for just $19,000. The Camry is so ugly, why would you want that ugliness to last a long time? The world needs self-destructing ugliness, not ugliness that lasts and lasts and lasts. I think the Sonata is the most beautiful car on the road today as long as you get the less expensive trims. The higher trims have a too fancy grill that stands out too much. Less bling is better. The new 2018 Hyundai Accent is a terrific car as well, and probably the best proportioned small car ever available for sale at a reasonable price in Earth history. The Accent looks like a costly German compact sport sedan, but with better fuel economy and a much lower sale price.

Hmmmm :) Sold my Genesis also because of the same rattle in the pano roof. My Audi doesn’t rattle nor does our F-150 with panoramic roof. James S I’ve read it’s only about half of them. They used aluminum for the rails and when the temperature changes the rails either retract or expand causing the rattling. At least that was what I read on the Genesis’s forum. I had a 2006 & 2009 Sonata with the 3.3 and they both were very dependable cars. The 2015 was a different story, but you can get a lemon in anything.

Toyota is last to adopt any new technology, Alex, which is why they are hesitating on adopting Apple Autoplay/Google. It is how they keep their quality up, although there is virtually no risk in it being adopted at this point.

Something about the new face doesn't jive for me. I think the way the snout sticks out and the headlights point downward. I like the new butt much better. The overall exterior design doesn't really match the older style interior, even though I do like the squared off interior design. It's still a more attractive car than the Camry and Accord, IMO.

We have no explanation for this other than a 10 hz GPS unit was used to test the 2016 model and we moved to a 20 Hz unit shortly thereafter. I can say that the performance of this 2018 model is substantially similar to numbers other publications have clocked

You chose the awful Toyota because of the hybrid ? Thats not fair because the Sonata doesnt offer one and the dimensions were identical between other features. Plus the Sonata doesnt offer a 6 cylinder. I think you dropped the ball on this one Alex. I made a pro/con list for the Sonata and it crushed the Toyota. I drove the Toyota and it still has the quality factor but it doesnt have the safety features of the Sonata. Not to mention the cost. The Toyota is way over priced.

I still fail to understand why they detuned the original Genesis Coupe 2.0T engine from this car. It used to have 274HP, and now it has just 245. It's always a shame when cars LOSE horsepower over time.
