Very nice video. Finally a review that highlights some true issues, unlike others who are monotonously glorifying the respective yachts and do not let one make a true impression. I still wish to know what could be done with that winch/halyard. With the anchor, the things are clear - the solution is exactly the one you mentioned.

Thanks Serban. I spoke with the yacht owners today before the Hanse Cup Adriatic race, they had the charter company change the halyard for a new one. From what I could see it seems to have worked. I think the main issue with many charter yachts is that most charterers do not care for lines and clutches when releasing halyards. Often I see them just banged open without first taking the tension onto the winch and pulling some through the clutch to let the teeth release. Causing very quick damage and of course this slipping. The other solution I have used is a double purchase halyard, the down side of this though is the mass of line you have to deal with after the hoist!

@@45DegreesSailing Oh, I see. I'm glad it's not a systemic fault. Thank you for the details, Nick. Perhaps this could be the case also with the anchor? I've reviewed the bowsprit area again, after watching your video, and it appears to me that a bit of care should go a long way towards not damaging the bow.

You're welcome Serban. Effectively yes it is. Though in my opinion in this case, these yachts are built production for charter so a fail safe against this kind of treatment I think would be a smart idea.

No problem, actually we are looking at chartering a Beneteau Oceanis. Do you have any experience with them? It would be great to see a review from you on one of these yachts.

@@michaelanderson2282 yes we sailed a 2015 Oceanis 55 last season for a week. Very nice yacht. There will be a review coming on that yacht this month. Keep an eye out for it!

@@MississipVol Ok I see. Well I feel the boat is a good fit for this. It is a very easy boat to sail. Especially if you opt for the in mast furling main sail. With good line handling and helming it is manageable with two people and very comfortable.
