Ducati has disrupted the cool world of cruiser bikes with their amazing XDiavel S (www.ducati.com/us/en/bikes/xd.... The technocruiser, as the Italian motorcycle company calls it, offers the low-end torque, forward controls, low seat and easy riding position of a cruiser with the heart of a true Ducati superbike. That heart is an amazing Ducati Testastretta DVT 1262 engine with 156 horsepower.
The power is harnessed by a belt-drive transmission (the first for Ducati) and cool tech like Bosch cornering ABS, different drive modes and Ducati Traction Control. Here's a full review and ride video of the 2018 Ducati XDiavel S.

    @@FreddySherman did you find it really thumpy through the chasis/seat when laying on the power on top gears. find with mine if I'm cruising say 60/70mph then apply throttle you can really feel it thumping through the bike? First twin I have ever ridden/owned so not sure how normal this is? Thanks

  • @FreddySherman

    @FreddySherman

    @@flibbertigibbet6200 Not sure exactly what you mean by thumpy. I rode it a lot on the freeway and didn't notice any issues or things that stood out to me. In sport mode it has a lot of torque and you may be feeling the power of the engine when it engages in each gear. Maybe change those drive mode settings and see if it still does it.

    I like a couple of the new HD's but as much as they're trying to bring younger riders over, I still feel like they're an old man's bike. At the end of the day I'm just going to have to test ride a couple different models and see which one wins the heart.

    A good review, can you get both feet flat on the floor, with you being 5ft 7. Also is it a heavy lump at slow speeds ie in slow traffic? Just subbed ya Atb Colin

  • @FreddySherman

    @FreddySherman

    6 жыл бұрын

    charles pooshay Thanks for watching and for subscribing. No, I can't get both feet flat on the ground. They do have a different seat you can use which is an inch lower and I also think you could adjust the rear shock to make it a little bit lower.

  • @FreddySherman

    Sure, also it's not a heavy lump at all. Very fast at low speeds and the engine is tuned to deliver a lot of torque at low RPM, which you need in a cruiser. It has different modes, there's an Urban mode for city riding.

    I wonder about the angel the left foot gets for the gear shifter. If you have first gear is it hard the get the foot under the shifter? Never ridden a bike with my feet forward.

    No, not at all. It feels very comfortable and natural. It's a similar position to some of the Harley Softails. It's comfortable and also it's easy to shift when you're trying to go fast. Thanks for watching.

    Nice review. Better then a 2017 Harley low rider s? Would you take it over any Harley in it’s class ?

  • @FreddySherman

    @FreddySherman

    6 жыл бұрын

    Thanks for watching, it's a tough question. I really like the low rider, if you mean the Softail Lo, I think it's called. It's a lot different as the H-D engine is so much bigger. A lot would depend on my size (if you're a big guy you need the bigger bike), my budget (there's a big cost difference) and the coolness factor. The Kawasaki will never be as cool as the H-D. Also I would seriously research reliability and how the two compare. Finally, the resale value is a lot different, the H-D retains its value better. That part would be part of the budget question.

    Do you need a wind shield? how is it at high speeds?

  • @FreddySherman

    @FreddySherman

    5 жыл бұрын

    I always like a windshield and I think there is an optional one. It wasn't an issue but I wear a full-face Schuberth helmet. Very smooth, fast and steady at high speeds, with a tiny bit of vibration of the mirrors. Not the handlebars, but just the mirrors. You had to look at them longer than you should to see behind you. Thank you for watching, please subscribe for more Ducati reviews. I'm planning more in January.

    can a 5'4" person ride this bike?

  • @FreddySherman

    @FreddySherman

    5 жыл бұрын

    That's probably the minimum to feel comfortable. I would check about the lowest seat possible (they have a few different seat options) and I would have the dealer make sure the bike is as low as possible, with the suspension settings. I'm probably 5'6" and I had to be on my tip-toes.

  • @FreddySherman

    @FreddySherman

    5 жыл бұрын

    I think you would have trouble. I am not much taller and could not get both feet flat on the ground. This was a test bike, with an average set-up, I didn't do any adjustments. With that said, you can get an optional lower seat and there may be a way to dial down the suspension an inch or two. So you could configure it to its lowest setting and then it would be OK.

    Nope, I confirmed with Ducati, I had a press bike, it was an S and they do make black X Diavel S bikes. On the S version, the matte black areas become gloss. I'm looking at the press materials right now, for the X Diavel S, two color options, Iceberg White with grey and red trim with grey frame and black wheels OR Thilling Black with matte black and red trim with grey frame and black wheels. Again comment failure from a silly person. But also again, thank you for watching and commenting. I will check on the turn signal thing, but it wouldn't self cancel for me!

My 2016 XDiavel S, has Automatic Deactivation for the Turn Indicators....(ducati's Terminology) automatic deactivation means self canceling and turn indicators are the same as turn signals.
