2018 DS 5 Review | EvoMalaysia.com

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

This car was launched in 2011 and facelifted in 2015, but it looks futuristic even in 2018. Average to drive, but amazing design.

My missus owned a DS4 which was a manual. she has always been a fan of French and Italian cars. 4 years and 120k it was relatively problem free other than the turbo which failed at 40k. The other issue that cropped up were the ABS sensors kept giving errors when nothing was wrong with it. Every part of the interior at 3 years was sticky to the touch. Resale value, French car and a manual gearbox, it was worth less than a brand new Vios J Manual when it was 3 years old and we were thankful to that Alphard driver that sent it to "car heaven" These are cars that you have to really love it to buy one. You have to like cars in order to appreciate it. I suppose it does help if it isn't your only car and have some deep pockets to afford it. We were sad to see it go as it was a fun car to drive and if you know how to drive it then it could give a Golf GTI a run for its money and finally we were thankful the day it went to "car heaven" as my missus walked away from it without a single scratch and the same could not be said off the ones in the Alphard.

The Mazda3 will lack the Civic Turbo's sudden punch, but it is assuredly not slow. I'm quite sure at full throttle acceleration, the Mazda3 will keep up with the Civic. It's just that because the Mazda accelerates more linearly, you don't feel the acceleration as vivid as you do in the Civic.

Brilliant car, after my years with unreliable BMW, AUDi, and MERCs, thd DS5 is so refreshing, the design is way ahead of the times, love the interior and how much more exciting it is in comparison to my previous cars, proving extremely reliable, and capable of very high miles. This car is so good, and some people find that difficult to accept due to it being a citroen, so they search for things to niggle about, I to was guilty of this, but when i look back at my previous german cars its only then do i actually realise that the DS5 is way better

What I love about them, the comfort ( excellent) styling ( stunning ) driving ( amazing to drive ) and ? No rust, citroens don't suffer from rust. Keep then serviced and they will last forever. As for colour, black looks really good, but best combo is white with black surrounds

First , I must applaud your effort in doing a review on a Citroen car , I never see anybody doing it in Malaysia , so it is good you review something that is not common for viewer to see and judge , your work and idea should be appreciated and supported , I urge all car lover viewer to subscribe to Kon video , we need car reviewer like Kon . Second , I feel really funny in seeing you try your very best to speak something good about the car and not condemn it , you look trying to control and squeeze out the word carefully .And lastly ,my humble opinion , never buy a french make car especially citroen , I have experience working indirectly with french automotive component parts , the design is not meant for long lasting , it is only meant for the maximum of 5 years , then all component will start to wear and tear , one must understand their design concept before you buy , but as Kon say , if you want something unique and special , then go for it and enjoy for 5 years and change to another car , and pls don't talk about the resale value of this car in Malaysia , don't make second hand dealer to laugh at you , as everyone know citroen car don't have resale value even in US

Thanks for watching! Well, as a product, there's nothing much to condemn about this car. It is quirky, but decently built. Driving is average - neither outstanding nor disappointing, but design is out of this world. Achilles heel really is the ownership experience or, at the very least, public's perception of it. Of course, the flip side of poor resale value is that you can get these cars for cheap in the used market.

@@adeyzas easy to buy now, since Citroens have bad resell value due to the bad rap they get. , Will incur costs if there's wear and tear, since you have to rely on limited service centres. Currently, there is also uncertainty due to Naza being ousted as the distributor with no takers. 1. Check is a service centre is near your address 2. Check if the car has a perfect maintenance record. This model needs to be maintained according to schedule in order to get the 5 or 7 year warranty 3. This is not a complex car, hence it doesn't have too many fancy electricals. But the parts itself, including the styling parts are expensive to get from Europe. You can get the same official parts from China since this model are produced and sold there in significant numbers. Most parts are the same but cheaper than from France. The Klang Valley also have a strong community of Citroen Peugeot owners and experts, so sometime parts are cheaper from these suppliers. 4. After 5 years, some parts will have wear and tear resulting in above average price fixes. Namely the turbo, the drive train, the suspension. 5. Go for models manufactured after 2016. Earlier models have more issues that's fixed around 2015. 6. Don't expect the magic carpet of older Citroen. This model is a standard sporty suspension setup. Competent at dynamic handling. Comfort (noise, vibration, harshness) is mostly if you're driving on highway. The car may be sensitive to uneven roads and potholes.

@@adeyzas to own it you need to be passionate about this car and its unique design. It's rewarding if you appreciate it, learn to care about its French quirks, and care for it.if you get one, check it thoroughly to see if it's been cared for. If the previous owner does care much about it (based in the condition of the interior) , it's a red flag that it's not going to be a good buy

Put it this way, the DS5 is basically a cut price Range Rover Evoque minus the all wheel drive credentials. Think about this: Just like the evoque it has a meh driving experience. From what I remember it uses the same AWF21 Aisin 6 speed as per the pre 2014 RRE. Like the RRE, the reliability is a big question mark. Unless it’s running the final edition of the Prince engine as per the current style 308, the Prince is notorious for turbo related issues and depollution failures. Ironically the RRE is also the same with the known electrical issues that occur. Like RRE, this thing is fantastic to sit in, having sat in the DS5 both in pre and post facelift form, you won’t believe this is a sub 200k car by its initial feel of the leather and materials used. It’s properly avantgarde and scrumptious. I’ve personally been in as a passenger in the pre facelift and drove the facelift myself and found it very.... jello like. It’s not comfortable and well controlled like a Golf or Focus, just too soft that it became bouncy. Also not to mention the front had a very weird feel to me, the fish tank like experience actually made me sick when I drove it a bit hard during some backroads. Despite all of this it’s honestly one of my favourite PSA cars - if only they gave the Hydractive system too.

An interesting line of thought. I have not driven the pre-FL model, but overseas reviews say this new one is significantly improved. It's not bad, in my books, but not a driving experience I may recall 2-3 years down the road.

The new one has a lot better quality improvements I believe. That, and Peugeot have kind of figured out the satnav to some extent. The USP in Europe was the fact this came in a diesel Hybrid4 variant, with the EGS system as well as a range of good PSA diesels - emissions were low for its size and incentives were great. But good luck with the EGS transmission.
