No, Mikeado66 is right...Nissan GTR weight is around 1700 Kg and Audi RS6 is 2000 Kg! so It's about 300 kg more...a lot of difference!

History dictates that anyone can get into a GTR and be fast on track Except James. James can't outrun a station wagon

Priorities, I guess. The GT-R may be quicker, but the RS6 is overall a much nicer car to drive in, nearly as quick and more practical. The only reasons to go for the GT-R are a.) if all you are interested in is doing races from traffic light to traffic light (good luck with the warranty after using launch control too often) or b.) prefer the looks / online bragging rights "I drive a GT-R!". Or, of course, if you are rich enough and can just afford a GT-R as a 2nd or 3rd car. Not even the price is a point in the GT-R's favour anymore, it got more and more expensive in recent years. E.g. in Germany, a bog standard GT-R costs 100k Euros, a base RS6 costs 111k Euros. When you can afford to buy one of these cars, that price difference is totally unimportant.

Ok i own a GT-R and i can see from the video it`s not in any of the race modes as none of the red lights are on...the suspension is in comfort mode.and gearbox in normal road use mode...

I'm sorry I did not make my comment clearer, I was referring to the costs of the "Extras" on the Audi, some of these are standard on much cheaper cars. They all have the same working parts inside and are often made by the same supplier to the manufacturers.

From listening to how much throttle was being applied in either cars during entering and exiting bends... i felt the GTR wasn't even being pushed close to the limits compared to the RS6... maybe have time comparisons with one driver eliminating more variables to compare apples with apples.

Driven a few RS6 & 7s and wasn't surprised by this result. I would be interested to see how the non performance would manage but with carbon ceramics.

Had the previous model RS6, in between GTRs. Got rid of RS6 because it carried way too much mass into bends and under braking. GTRs are sublime, but could be tempted by new model RS6 as it's a more practical car, it ain't comfortable sitting in the back of the GTR, but that could be down to my driving :). Also, Audi were terrible with customer service. The fancy pants suspension valve failed on mine (as it seemed to on lots of them, but Audi refused to replace it FOC even though it's obviously a design flaw - hope they've fixed it as the issue had been going on for a while, meh...).

Don't forget the significant weight difference between drivers, there's at least another 150kg there.

I'm a MX-5 owner and my brother the cardiologist is an Audi RS sedan buyer. Drove his RS (before he traded it in recently) and I can say it is truly amazing. All those fancy electronics etc. overcome the fact that it is unbalanced and should be a crappy handling car (under the laws of physics). The Audi is a doctor's car, the Miata is poor man's sports car. Comparison is even more extreme than this video. Of course, I'd rather have the Miata.

I would take the RS6 over the GTR any day... no matter what :P

I don't want to sound like a typical fanboy and bash the driver of the GT-R, but hearing 'I've over done' it a few times is hardly reassuring.

This guy can't drive, no way in hell an RS6 can keep up with a GT-R 570 on a track. This car puts 458 Italia type of laptimes because its AWD system is way more advanced and it's lighter than the Audi wagon.

I agree - I found on fairly technical tracks that a 2016 RS6 couldn't get close to my MY 2013 GTR. The understeer really held the Audi back. Its possible the 2017 model is better but that weight and obvious body roll suggests otherwise. Anyone who has put a lot of track time in a GTR knows just how hard you can hammer it in ways that are not possible with most cars.

you own a GTR? :o But indeed, the AWD on the GTR is fenominal, the main difference is that it's bassically an RWD with the possibility to have up to 50% of the power to the front wheels. So you got all the extra grip off an 4WD, but the agility off an RWD

I have owned 2 R35 GTRs: a 2009 GTR that I traded for a 2013 GTR and I have driven many tracks in North America, and year round on snow on winter tires. I agree that the car is very RWD-biased but the computers correct that very quickly and aggressive opposite lock can lead to real conflict. You have to learn to trust this car - it does look after you.

If Gtr was with V10 Twin turbo engine, it weight and weight distribution would go to hell. V6 is optimum in this car.

Nissan, this is what I'd like for the r36 gtr.. Curb weight of 3750lbs, nothing more... Hp and torque of 610bhp, 570 ft tq.. Enough with the v6 engine, time to switch to a v8 4.5l engine. I know it may not have the fancy technology again, but please go back to your roots of a manual transmission. Top speed should be around 208mph, with a 0-60 in about 3.2 sec.

So. This audi has done faster laps than a GTR then? I wonder what time this audi has done at the nurburgring? It should be faster than the GTR.

Both the RS6 and RS7 are hideous from the front. there's no difference. The only way to have an RS6 saloon is to buy an S6 and then swap the RS6 engine and other bits.

the new gtr 2017 well I am not all that impressed with it it's seem as Nissan as toned it down abit the interior is nice it as a nice look about it but performance wise I'm not that impressed one bit for a big audi estate to keep up with the new gtr that says it all well done to the audi estate driver and that is a 2ton car there you have it thanks for a lovely video and thanks KZread

In my country the Datsun GTR has become more expensive that the RS6 ... GTR not that bargain that it used to be, hence becoming pointless (at least where I am from !!!) .... I think the GTR fanboys have driven up the GTR price. Same goes for Subaru STI and WRX... everyone want the STI with the old primitive EJ25T engine, but the WRX with the newer FA20DIT engine is 35% cheaper and not slower at all. Same goes for BMW M2 and M240i.... huge price difference, but almost negligable difference in performance..... a skilled driver in the M240i would piss over a slightly less skilled driver in an M2.... better to spend the money honing your skills on track.... again the fanboys drove the M2 price up (above list price), leaving more sensible folk to snap up the M240i at below cost sometimes.

The difference between the M240i and the M2 is more than the speed. With the M2 you get an LSD, you don't on the M240i. You also get 19 wheels, leather interior as standard, a full bodykit, a better suspension setup, a louder exhaust and bigger brakes. The M2 is even a bargain when you look at what i'd cost to give similar specs to an M240i, cars are more than just horsepower and torque. Plus you can just use an Alpha-N tune on the M2 for under a grand and get M4 power so... Plus comparing different drivers makes no sense, because an experienced pilot will outpace you in a 488 GTB with just something like a Mégane 275 RS Trophy or a Leon Cupra 290 anyway.

JimB You like Audi so i shouldn't expect you to get what is driving feel. Because the M2 is not only faster everywhere than an M240i but it also feels more engaging because of a couple of little differences that ad up. The M3 vs D3 test by Autocar was stupid and biased, look at the comments. And the Alpina didn't "piss all over the M3", he used the only section where he knew the D3 would have the advantage because of the torque and AWD, and even disabled the TC (no one drives with TC off in normal driving witht he M3). AWD gives you traction, but then you lose engagement... Oh wait you're an Audi fan you can't get that either.

Kaisuke971 I like some Audis, not all of them ... I like some BMWs, not all of them... ditto with Mercedes and Subaru ... owned cars from each brand already. I am a fanboy of no manufacturer ... sure as hell hate Audi with a DSG gearbox (reliability issues over 60K Miles), hate the new Q2 as well. Love that Alpina D3, would love an M240i with X-Drive ... Love my very small Audi S1 with a Manual Transmission or an RS7 with a torque Converter Automatic (it's not a DSG).... Love my pre-2006 Subaru WRX STI, hate all the new ones... love the Mercedes A45, but hate the rest of them. I am into very specific cars, not manufacturers.

Nice try Audi. I wouldnt call a V8 turbocharged 600bhp a family car ;) It looks like one but it isn't under the bonnet and it's not what audi is trying to target. It actually has more power and more torque yet can't beat the GTR on the track. It is 300kg heavier but the power and torque difference should make it up. It's just how the GTR has been designed to outperform it's rivals. It is well balanced and picks up very well. I have driven one on a track and what it says on the paper is one thing and what it actually does on the track is another thing.
