2017 Melbourne Tram Route 96 Driver View Winter AM Peak Service

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

English - Melbourne Tram Route 96 Winter 2017. Melbourne is still beautiful in winter and has lots to offer. Unfortunately, the population is growing along with congestion that comes with growth.
Passenger numbers have continued to increase particularly from the East Brunswick end due to the number of high rise developments that can be seen along the first part of the route. It's a reflection of the high density developments that are being approved all across Melbourne.
This service is an AM weekday peak service from East Brunswick departing at 804am in a Bombardier E1 Class Tram. The 96 line is one of the busiest lines on the Melbourne Tram network running between every 4 and 6 minutes between 730am and 9am.
The last upload was from March 2015. In over 2 years, traffic congestion has also gotten worse due to the amount of people moving into Melbourne and the inner city.
Filmed 16th August 2017.

    Amazing video on such a beautiful winters day. There is alot of nice scenery along Route 96. I really enjoyed watching and hearing all the wonderful sights and sounds of Melbourne and the trams, it really is a beautiful city we live in. Thanks for sharing another amazing drivers view, can't wait for more, it's the closest thing to driving the tram myself. So awesome.👍

    Hello! It was with great pleasure that I watched your 3th videos taken on Melbourne tram 96 of the route for the period 2007-2015-2017. I see how the city of Melbourne is changing 'before our eyes'. Especially his business center. However, the number of people on the streets -- in comparison to February 2007 and August 2017 -- decreased in 2017, in bulk, at 3 or even 4 times. Perhaps this is due to the tourist season in the summer period - in the southern hemisphere this is January and February, is not it? -- alas, I do not know this statistics. Therefore, your conclusion: 'traffic congestion has also gotten worse due to the amount of people moving into Melbourne and the inner city' -- for me it was unexpected... /Looking at films -- at March 2015 and this film at February 2017, -- I did not notice to particularly change in size of the city traffic. What I cannot say it in comparing the situation between 2007 and 2017: today Melbourne seemed to me almost 'extinct'.../ In short, it was very interesting and informative to see the life of Melbourne in motion -- in space and even at the time! Thank you very much for your video reports!

  • @Schony747

    It's hard to judge with the videos as they are taken at different times of the day. What I will say is that we are now carrying more people than we ever have and there are more cars on the road creating more congestion and delays all because of population growth. The CBD and inner city has grown immensly due to the amount of high rise appartments as well. Thanks for watching and have a safe 2018.

    Around 32:40 how many people crossed the tram track! Don't they know a tram is a rhino waiting to stampede on them!! Jokes aside they're some of the stations along the old ST Kilda line look abandoned are there any plans to demolish or repurpose them. Also many tram stops not accessible along Nicholas street, I've seen the plans on the PTV website, do you know when they will start construction as part of the route 96 project? Finally I liked how this tram caught up with the tram in front.

  • @Schony747

    @Schony747

    That's actually quite normal for William St. We just have to be a bit more vigilant around there but we know what to expect. All stations on the light rail are in use by businesses. Middle Park is a cafe. Albert Park a Nursery and Antiques and South Melbourne Child Care. Plans for Nicholson St have been on the cards for over 3 years. Dealng with three Counculs, Yarra, Melbourne and Moreland makes it a bit tricky. The tram in front was late so I had an easy run.

    +Robert M. The St Kilda light rail as it is now known was a railway line until 1987. Until then the train terminated at St Kilda Station. The stations were at South Melbourne, Albert Park and Middle Park hence the old high platforms. Port Melbourne was also a railway and if you look at my 109 view you will see that former railway line.

    I've been watching your videos for sometime now. I liked them enough to visit Melbourne this past February. 2 days for trams and 1 day for Puffing Billy. I have some questions At the end you went by stops with people waiting. Is that because there was a tram in front of you and behind you? Trying to space out the trams more evenly? What is the signal at 23:38 for? I know there are others like this around the system. What is the signal at 37:51 for? I'm guessing points but it's not like the other ones I've seen.

  • @Schony747

    @Schony747

    7 жыл бұрын

    23:38 - an old style signal. When it lit up as a white light we knew we could still makle it through an interesection on a green light. 37:51 - new type of automatic points system and new light sequence as well. Diamond means the command from the driver has been locked into the system.

    With regards to the passengers at the stops. The other tram was only one stop ahead. No body made an attempt to signal the tram to say they wanted it so I can only assume they were waiting for the 16 to Kew.

    Never been to NY but Melbourne Trams are generally an efficient way to get around in the centre of town.

    11:38 Check out the petrol prices!! 12:08 Check out the petrol prices. How does this work?? 200m away and there is a 30c (!?!?) per litre difference. Huh??

    Petrol prices are always controversial over in Australia. Prices always go up during holidays as well.

    @@Schony747 I know. I live in Australia. My issue is that I have never, ever seen a difference of 30c per litre between petrol stations that are 200m apart, especially when the one on the corner of Alexandra Pde and Nicholson Rd has consistently one of the cheapest petrol prices in all of Melbourne, yet is 30c more expensive than the Liberty. Very weird.
