2017 Honda Pilot Direct Injection valve cleaning

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Cleaning the intake valves on my 2017 Honda Pilot's 3.5 Earth Dreams (GDI Direct Injection) engine intake valves. Using the CRC intake valve cleaner to remove any carbon build up on the intake-valves from 30,000 miles for driving.

I actuially just watched this video today. i did the same process on my 2017 Acura MDX. I sprayed the CRC GDI cleaner through the throttle body to get it to all 6 intake ports. I got nervous though when i drove my car for 25 mins on the freeway because it was losing power and the engine light was blinking. but after getting back and resting the car for 20mins I started the car again and no blinking engine light. I let it ran in idle for 10mins then drove it again in the freeway. the acceleration response was amazing. Gonna do this again after 10K miles.

The new Honda earthdream engine is has very advanced design and runs clean if you keep it clean. Sounds like you're doing exactly that. What you're doing will keep the valve clean especially with good synthetic oil and clean gasoline and changing oil more often. I do the same thing as you that's why at 30k the clean produces very little white smoke. :)

I'm considering purchasing a 2017 Elite trim with 30,000k mi and have heard varying complaints of the fuel injectors going bad or depositing too much fuel and mixing with the engine oil causing a lack of acceleration power. You seem to take excellent care of your Pilot which begs me to ask if despite your great care have you had any issues with it? Unfortunately, you may do more harm then good by using CRC and similar fluids. The deposits will break in big chunks getting into the cylinders. You will get wall scoring and possible valve damage, and then it is stuck in the cat converter. Due to GDI crappy design in general the media blasting is the only reliable (and expensive) way to clean the intake valves

These things still need such maintenance up to 2017? wow. thats why toyota has port injectors with direct injectors. if catch cans work why the heck don't they put them in at factory. Good point about not using brake booster line. Issue with this though is the car needs good reading from MAF sensor. I wish they made a place to shoot this stuff in without taking apart anything. Also spraying a mist would be better if possible instead of a stream with the can because port injectors would also spray a mist. what you could also do is do a before and after by taking the intake manifold off to see how dirty and clean thing are.

You're correct about Toyota's dual injection engine, such as on the Highlander. But Highlander's 8 speed transmission is a seal unit without dipstick and very difficult to change. For that, Pilot's traditional 6 speed auto sort of evens out the ground as far as maintenance.

Freaking GDI.....why can’t car companies stick with what works, you probably get another 1-3 mpg because of this non sense. Most owners don’t know we have to do this. But thank you for the video.

Because they've all dropped their pants to the EPA to pick up 0.25 mpg CAFE.

wow, looks like a lot of work or stuff I don't need to worry about with my current 2009 Oddy, its running fine for now. (200k) I was looking into a replacement 2019/2020 Honda Odyssey with this engine. The following video after your is ...kzread.info/dash/bejne/iH2GpNWnY9vMn8Y.html Im going to investigate Toyota next. The Toyota uses a timing chain as well. Honda does not make good engines anymore i'm convinced. This sounds like a tractor!

On the same page. I've heard first time that Honda went full GDI the last year with no PFI like Toyota does. Old EcoBoost was there until all the issues came up, Ford had to add PFI. Honda went nuts lately with turbos on small engines and idiotic GDI only engines

@@deseremere and if the owners use anything other than top tier synthetics in colder weather, then R.I.P. cold start viscosity is extremely important with these turbos and especially GDI engines
