    You rock! Just replaced both rear brakes and rotors of my ‘17 Civic. After watching your video, they were a snap! The only thing that was difficult was the rotor set screw. I have an optima with similar electronic parking brake system. Instead of opening the module up you can remove the electronic plug that gives it power and use a 9v battery with aligator clips to back the piston out. Place the positive and negative on each terminal within module and you'll hear the piston making noises. You can switch the positive and negative terminals if you notice the piston extending instead of doing nothing.

    From what i understand the way he did it is safe if being done manually. There is a video out there that is done wrong where a guy doesnt disassemble the E e brake amd just uses a c clamp to push the piston in which is a no no because hes pushing all the break fluid. And run the risk of messing up the electric e brake.

    Thank you for putting this video together. I carefully followed it on my 2017 Civic EXT and didn't have any trouble (no brake light afterwards). What I did notice is that when I jack up the rear of the car and I give the rear wheels a good spin with one hand, it only makes a little bit more than a whole turn after I released them... when it should be around 2.5 times if I am not mistaken. I am saying this because I noticed the drop in MPG... I guess because there is some increased friction on the rear brakes. What steps would you take to troubleshoot this scenario? Grease the caliper pins? Thank you in advance.

  • @gotitdone

    @gotitdone

    The problem was the caliper's pins. I greased them better this time and I also greased all the other brake parts. I am getting +50 mpg on my 2017 Civic EX-T!!! You can see the "wheel revolutions" test here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/YquMmauMhbyZmM4.html This video shows how I greased the front brakes as an example: kzread.info/dash/bejne/daZr2JiEkdW-ZqQ.html

    Thank you for the video. My experience with task: do each wheel separately resetting EPB, that way if you get an error code you know which wheel to check; top caliper 7 mm hex screw is hard to reach due to brake line so I had to use an allen wrench instead of my new hex sockets I bought for this task; I had to wait until I was pulling caliper out to disconnect electrical connector; inner brake pad has a left and right-I believe wear tab goes down. Yes I got an error code so I just took everything apart again, reassembled and light went out. Suspect the spindle was not perfectly aligned but maybe the electrical connector had poor contact I did feel/hear a click. Moot point now. Honda part number 43022-TBA-A03. My Honda dealer quoted $650 for job, my cost
