    Always interesting to view others ideas. When people see a laundry basket in the back of my rig with a pack and such often they are curious why I carry all that "stuff". Easy. Nearly 20 years ago I was in a city during a major earthquake. The roads were gridlocked , phones (cell and land) were down and I had 3 children in school. I was a single parent ( wife passed away very young) I had no gear , I was wearing a suit with business attire shoes and I was looking at over a 20 mile walk through so very bad areas to get home. I did it , but I was cold , tired had horrid blisters etc. I learned a lesson.

    Nice looking kit. Always great to go through your kits every once in awhile just to make sure nothing's expired nothing's leaked. One thing I would add instead of the peanut butter is something like a mountain house dehydrated meal because they have a 25 year shelf life. Thank for the video!

    One thing that I carry in mine is an E-tool (My personal favorite is the Gerber folding spade with the serrated edge). It has saved me many times, getting me out of snow, and other miscellaneous tasks. They serve many functions, especially those with a serrated edge. The tri-fold design makes it low profile, and the polymer handle cuts down on weight. It will also not get as hot/cold as a metal handle. They are relatively inexpensive, light weight, and low profile. In my opinion, every vehicle and survival bag should contain one.

    Keep your bag in the cab with you if you can! Just better access and more secure. If you have to bail out of your truck quickly or while it’s moving you won’t be able to access in the back.

    I like the idea of the magnesium shavings. I used something similar as I tore apart a few 9mm rounds and packed a vial with the gunpowder. The worry is that somehow moisture may get inside it, but I feel it's worth having. I have several methods of fire starting as well. 👍

    Overall good kit, but some important stuff I didn't see: -Shelter? Tube tent at minimum? Even if you're "walking strait home" stuff happens. -Water containers for mobile water (canteen, bottle, water bladder, etc.) Life straw is ok, but a $20 sawyer that can squeeze some water into a canteen to-go does same job and more. -For the space you take up with peanut butter cups in expensive "pod", just get a small $2 jar of PB. Much more calories for the space and costs almost nothing.

    I like your bag contents. Everyone has different bags and gear, as they should, since everyone's get home situation will vary. Mine has to be configured for more long distance. One item I would suggest is some kind of dust mask with safety goggles....a situation with breathing difficulties and eye irritation due to air contaminants or heavy dust/smoke is not an unlikely scenario.

    Consider investing in a good pair of cutting pliers or linemen's pliers. I have a pair of Kobalt Front Cutting Pliers (not the highest quality but decent). You can use them for cutting fences and small branches for fire wood. Depending on the brand you can put a ring and a caribiner on them and hang them on the outside of your pack so they don't take up any space. Really useful and versatile tool.

    You say its a "get home bag" but there is a ton of weight you could strip from that pack that really serves no purpose trying to get home on foot. Ditch the tools......what do you expect to work on walking home? Ditch the spices....wtf are they in there for anyways considering your not carrying food to spice lol. Ditch all the gels/snacks for a couple MREs or some freeze dried food. Will weigh the same and packaging is already waterproof. Your energy levels will be much higher and sustainable with the extra calories compared to fast sugars and caffeine. You need extra dry socks.....mandatory! You have a compass but no map? Do you keep a pair of hiking style boots in the truck? Im sure you wear shoes at times that are not suitable for distance hiking and rough terrain. Just a few things i noticed.

    That's about too much for a get home bag... Saw and hatchet? Spices? 3 pens? 2 write in the rain pads? 2 space blankets? I'd say add more prepped food that will allow you to keep getting home and not have to stop to prep. Not certain that's a get home bag so much as it is a personal "do-it-all edc bag." Definitely some great gear, but it's not a GHB, by a long stretch.

    Lots of good stuff in that bag. But I would ditch half of it. Figure out what is essential and cut that bags weight in half. A hatchet and a saw? Are you setting up a bush camp or trying to get home to your family..... Spices....you don't have any food in the pack to season? A book on survival? Study that now, not during an emergency..... your med kit looks big enough to do surgery. Useful things I would add: energy bars, a small crank radio for news and weather reports, water bottle, water proof poncho, $200 in cash in small bills, a non lethal weapon like pepper spray or collapsible baton, maps or your surrounding area.

  • @Sblaze813

    @Sblaze813

    Ken Sawyer non lethal weapons are pointless. And who do you think is going to be paying for anything in a crisis situation? Your pepper spray and cash might get you home in candyland but he’s preparing for a real emergency.

    MrChicken187 Yeah. It might paint a better picture if I review what I carry separately in the truck. That’s where I have boots, socks, clothes, firearms, etc. I commute 25 miles to work each day and it’s into downtown Atlanta. If something happened which forced me to walk home, I would have to take a longer route though to avoid certain neighborhoods. I am planning for a 4-4 day walk home. Honey never expires and is one of the best super foods humans have eating for forever. I would consider a container of honey instead of the peanutbuter. It was even found in some the Egyptian tombs crystallized, but still fit for consumption

    Nice video. beef jerky is a good staple, wet wipes is what I have in my EDC and small kem lights. I have been pondering the idea of keeping small bottles of alcohol to use as a possible barter. What are your thoughts about that? I wonder if its' a double edge sword.

    Why such a big knife and a saw when you have an axe? One or two of those I think could go or at least be replaced with a lot less weight. Curious if there’s a real reason for it or just caution. And peanut butter seems like a bad move for a bag if you aren’t checking/replacing stuff frequently. Plenty of good sources of calories that would take up similar space but are less likely to spoil. Overall the selection seems a combination of extra and under cautious.
