Your hunting videos are so much more honest than most. Really appreciated. Sorry Jerry didn't get a bull, but much respect for approach and passing on the "spray and pray" shot.

I have been watching a ton of your videos lately, from how tos, bag dumps, and hunts and have enjoyed them all. The ones that I really enjoy the most are the ones with your brother, your long time friends Dick and Jerry. Whether one harvests an animal or misses a shot or sees some game, but doesn't get the right shot it is always a good time and the ones that bring the best memories when going along with a family member or lifelong friends. Gives me chills, makes me smile, and shed a tear of joy remembering times with my Dad and my brothers out in the woods or on the lake. I can't wait for my youngest bro to come back from serving overseas so we can get into some big game hunting and waterfowl hunting this fall. Hopefully a trip out to Montana for a cow elk and a buck mule deer. A bull elk would be epic, but we don't have a place for such a massive animal to hang on any wall. Regardless it would be a cool experience to see new country, Big Sky Country with him if we are blessed to do so. Thanks for sharing one of those memories, I was laughing with you at his reaction to those two big bulls. I know I would have been stoked too.

Wow, first comment! What a tough unit to get drawn in. Too bad the tag was unfilled. Amazing bulls in that area, I shot my first mule deer a little bit south of where you guys were hunting; I was ten years old then. Over to the east of you guys is where I do my elk hunting... on the Navajo! some of those old bulls run onto the rez when there is hunting pressure or snow. Love this hunt because I grew up there in those woods... it hits home to for me. I know exactly where you guys are standing and sitting, LOL . Happy hunting Randy and keep up the good work.

Randy, I only hope I haven't waited too late in life to try to full-fill this bucket list item of taking a bull elk. So since I've committed to using you as my go expert.... You say that the five parts of season are: 1. Early season, 2. pre rut, 3. peak rut, 4. post rut, 5. late season. Bull elk needs in late season are: 1. sanctuary, 2. sanctuary, 3. sanctuary, 4. sanctuary, 5. followed by water & food. Given these factors, what are the key needs in the other 4 parts of the season? As to this hunt (this video) I would call it a success. You got to spend time on a mountain with a real friend. You saw some bulls, but not at the right time. Harvest would have been an added bonus for Jerry, but it appears you both had a blast!

I got to say... I don't think I would've done anything different than what you did. Isn't it crazy how it seems like during the scouting you see a ton of animals, then the day comes when you you're actually hunting and.... Nothing. I swear they have a calendar and know how to read. But you and Jerry are 110% right. You just got to spend a week hunting with a life long friend. I'd consider that a win anytime.

Jerry has some tough luck while in the field. I thought we would have a better chance, but as you saw, a bad break here or there can change all of that. Even so, a week with a lifelong friend is hard to beat.

I really learn a lot from your videos! Sadly, I've learned that same lesson shared with the other hunter who impatiently decided to walk down through an area rather than stay put where I can oversee an area. For me, that aggressive approach just does not work.

That's tough hunt, but still not time wasted if you get to spend it with quality people. That opening scene with the flat trailer made me cringe a little. That happened to us on the way to Colorado in 2016, trailer tire blew within a quarter mile of getting on the interstate in North Platte, Nebraska. You've never seen 5 guys work so fast to get a tire changed next to 80 mph traffic in the dark.
