i like the rear bumper, diffuser, and exhaust setup on the FK2 than the FK8. Adding those things to the FK8 would make it perfect

I think the front of the FK8 looks good up until the middle, but, when you see the rear of the car, then you realize how busy it is back there.

hi, first of all sorry for my english i'm living in turkey i have fk2 2015, i bought it 54.000 euro (because of high taxes in turkey) and now if i want to buy the fk 8 it is about 75.000-80.000 euro in our country that's so much difference at the price but i think fk8 looks better than fk2, but two of them use nearly the same engines i think most important difference is the comfort mode and the rear suspensions. this video comparison between the fk2 and fk8 is absolutely fantastic keep on following :)

Thats a really high price for a Type R but so worth it man. Enjoy it! Everytime I drive my Type R I feel like i'm driving something much more expensive. The suspension and handling is incredible, it is actually a very comfortable car for something that handles so flat.

The new one was designed purely for the USA market. It's all to do with sales figure. FK2 all the way.

Finally someone said it. I said the same thing when the fk8 first was presented. It's so far from any European/Japanese hatch would be. It's not even a hatch tbh, it's a comfortable 5D sedan. If you don't think it's for the US, just take a look at earlier US-only Civics like the Si. Sedans do better in US. Fk2 ftw

Both fantastic cars, yes looks are subjective as you’ll never please everyone but there’s no doubt about the performance and handling. I’ve personally got the FK2 and love it, a rarer Car than the FK8 already!! A future collector car for sure with only 9500 global and 2249 in the UK. Get one while you can!!

The "brooom" is for rev matching, something that people should do anyway, drove the FK2 on track today and I love how simple it is, easy to drive and plenty of grunt. Heel and toeing is easy as the pedals aren't in a silly position. Big fan of the FK2 not so much the FK8, I'll definitely be buying one soon.

Big fan of the fk8, for me the fk2 is ugly af... it looks cheap in my opinion, but i guess great car to drive! Ive just testdrove the fk8 and it was honestly the best car i‘ve ever driven... more fun than a nissan gtr 2017 track edition! Just my opinion :)

Great presenting lots of info i am torn between the two both amazing cars i would settle for either.

me and my wallet are both glad we prefer the FK2 exterior over the FK8 hahaha

Advantages of the FK8: +Comfort Mode (big advantage), +Rev-Match, +Cup-Tyres as stock-option, +lower seats with less side "impact", +rear suspension, +more aggressive look at the front Advantages of the FK2: +feels more raw/mechanical/urgent (as said in many different tests), +more precise steering feel (many tests say that), +more hugging seats, +oil temperature displayed, +rarer car (as just produced for about a year) ... hard decision... as FK2 owner it's probably worth to wait until an upgraded version of the fk8 arrives. What do you think?

Interesting you say that. Many have preferred the FK2, even though the FK8 was specifically designed as a race version, then watered down afterwards for the road version, unlike the FK2...I wonder if stricter EU laws, limits the FK8 more?

stricker eu will be for v6 and 3.0l and stuff. no prob for 2.0 at least for next 5 years

I have FK2, compared it with FK8 and must say that fk2 matches me better. It is more hardcore, you feel that this is a racing car. In fk8 I forgot it, and even in +R mode I was checking if it is not in comfort, it was definitely less inspiring.

The HDMI-Input is great for the SNES Classic Mini and similar consoles :)

Almost wrote the car off at the roundabout “oo hello” lol

One major change is better vision through the rear window in the mirror. I also like the blind spot alert in the door mirrors. HDMI is for a wired mirror of your phone to the infotainment system although most would use wireless. Fully packed with toys and safety stuff the GT is worth the extra money.

My FK2 CTR has the blind spot alert in the mirrors, if your interested in an FK2 the GT spec is a must... the standard one doesn't have keyless entry or the upgraded speaker system, well worth the extra money.

Just for your information, you can disable Rev.Match in Menu

I like the looks of the fk2 better. It's more like a ninja car whereas the other one is too bulky, looks like if it wants to be an SUV or something.

Looks more like an accord that a civic hatch.

Would love to see both in real life, can't really choose from a video but I think I'm going more towards the FK2. Just prefer the looks of it. I think it's because it still looks spaceshipy like the FN2. Which I like the shape of the FN2. Maybe if I saw them in real life I'd change my mind but definitely love that FK2.

Well brother, when you are standing next to FK2 it gives you a different perspective than a video or some photos. It is nicer in person. I compared both side by side, and the FK2 looks more made for performance, withe those scoops on the wings, while the FK8 seems a little like an aftermarket kit has been added. So, the FK2 seems more natural and special, if you also put in balance the Formula 1 (or Jet Fighter) interior design. Both are greath cars with awsome design, though.

Had a choice if both, went for the FK2 after test driving both, loving my decision

What happend to the fk7 ? Well.mine fk7 is in winter storage

It'll be a FK2 for me, although I also like the FK8.

The FK8 might be hungry for POWER...FK2 is better as is but add a bigger Turbo on the FK8 I bet it will feel closer to the FK2, no doubt

And in many other cars, like Renault, BMW 3, Ford Focus. But yes, i have same problem in my Civic Tourer, but nothing to worry about.

Good review.....but he let himself down a bit at the end by getting the list prices wrong for both cars. He said the FK8 was "£32995 but an extra £3000 for the GT model" FK8 GT was £32995 at launch in September 2017, while standard Type R was £30995. Since this video was made there has been a price rise and the list price of FK8 GT is now £33525.

Nice reviews of the two cars. Like others have said on here I think the FK2 is the better looking car over the FK8 as the later car looks a bit lardy ( to suit the USA market I expect ) plus the flaired rear wheel arches just look wrong because the flairing stops when it reaches the rear doors ???. The major plus point for the FK8 is that comfort mode for daily use. Having driven an FK2 I found the standard mode far to hard and +R mode is bonkers hard, but at least the FK2 has a "proper hand brake" lol (can't stand electric hand brakes). The bit I cant get my head around is the price of the FK8 in the UK .The MRP in the US is about $34000 (thats around £26000 sterling) crazy when you consider the the car is made here in the Uk shipped half way round the world and the USA get it so cheap.

I bought fk2 because of the individuality of it u don't see many where as see amway more fk8s. The fk2 is great fun to drive in normal mode plus r mode is a little to stiff for a b road. You can't push either car on the road safely. I love to take it to a track and see the difference in lap times between normal and plus r mode. I do use plus r on road but not for long. I've owned my fk 2 for a few months and wouldn't personally swap it for am fk8

I feel like I'm back at school.

Do feel that the rear seats should mirror the front with at least Red centres makes the front seats look like they've just been put in for the sake of it....

Yes, especially as it is a 4 seater. However, the reason they have one it is because of the way the 60/40 split folding works.

It's just honda being cheap skates. Would be disappointed in the focus rs or golf r having different seats in the back than the front. Also the material of the seats in the back is rather poor quality.

Im from the USA I own 98 Integra type R been waiting for years for the new type R. I was thinking it would be like the fk2 but noooo we get a funny looking mini van thing. I wonder if I can import a fk2 it looks so much better. Why do these guys like the looks of it so much. I don't get it maybe I just better get used to it and deal with it idk.

Individual taste I guess. There are a lot of UK FK2 owners that prefer the older style. I feel that if you liked the old FK2 shape, you will not like the newer one and vice versa

Also the chassis rigidity, bigger overall car's dimmensions, newer steering system, bigger wheels, different rear suspension, lower seats.

Hdmi can be used for those mini Nintendo systems etc, for full Japanese effect.

I’ve driven my friends fk2 a dozen times or more. It’s a fun, fast car and I prefer the dials. My fk8 is, however, better in every other way: steering feel, power delivery, gear change, handling, pedal position,no annoying rev hang (single mass flywheel), driving position, brakes, lack of torque steer, ride and wet/dry grip. Rev match is great too. (+R is fine on most roads). My friend adores his fk2 and has owned it for over 2 years. He has driven my car once and is already looking to upgrade. He admitted all of the above. Basically the faster (and better) you drive, the more you notice the superiority of an fk8.

To disable Rev.Match, Go to: System - Vehicle - Driver Assist - Rev.Match

Perhaps the fk2 has been remap since it felt quicker? Also the GT priced at £2k more, don't see 2k worth of extra kit for your money!

FK8 a bit better on track,probably better setup for rear suspension- multilink. I would say fk2 appearance with fk8 performance.Or go with a FD2, EK9 or one of the Integra TYPE-Rs.

Although the FK2 R is a sooped version of the standard car whereas the new civic is a played down version of the FK8 R

See carwow. Fk2 fk8 and the newest. 1/4 mile fk2 is faster than fk8. Pulling to top speed the fk2 beats the fk8 and the newest one. Didn't expect that.

If I owned a nearly new FK2 I probably would not change, but if I was new into the Civic, I personally would take the FK8.....The 2019 Trophy-R is an eager must-see!

You are right...sadly with a lack of runways round here and the issues with road dragging....difficult. We appreciate the feedback though; thank you.

I have an FK8 and i did manage 39mpg on a long run and back......it was harder work than driving fast but it can be done if you drive it like a parsemonious bas**rd. I did it just to see if its poss. It is but its about as much fun as falling off a cliff.

fk2 better looking

The FK2 looks better from the back, the twin pipes define the outer edges and give the backside a more aggressive look, the FK8 better from the front, don't really like the odd number triple pipes, altho the Ferrari 458 has identical and worked for them, don't really like the black fake vents at the back, also prefer the hidden rear door handles on the FK2 making it look more like a 2 door, the FK2 is probably more the iconic hot hatch style with its short stubby nose making it feel more like a go kart whereas the FK8 may tend to give you more of a GT feeling, the FK2 was never sold into NZ so I have to be contented with the FK8, best colour is the metallic grey cause all the external bits tend to blend together. A big plus on he FK8 is less bolstering in the seats which I have still managed to catch my nuts on so cant imagine how dangerous the seats are in the FK2. These cars are dead boring to drive slowly whereas my old Porsche 928 S4 still gives me a fantastic thrill at any speed.

The rear wheels of the fk2 seems a bit weird

I live in Florida US, and the fk2 doesn’t look like anything we see in our roads. It would stand out so much and I can see why it was marketed for Europe. Having said that, it’s a beautiful car and would be hella unique to have it here in America. Most people ( non car enthusiasts) here don’t even know the fk8 had a predecessor LMAO

Wind this on a few years and both cars interiors are so out of date Drove an fk8 before Xmas with 50k The gearbox was dreadfully in this particular 1 Steering average Not sure what all the hype is to be honest

Fk2 is far better looking then the fk8
