    What everyone forgets is they gave you a more controlable powerband. But I love this bike . Brought it to Brule in Alberta and man it did every sand hill there with ease in 2 and 3rd Gear.

    This bike is a full on off road race bike(hare scramble and GNCC). If you don't like this bike because it doesn't have lights and a e start, go but a old guy dual sport bike. The compression is lowered so you set you foot on the kick start and it starts. The bike doesn't need a hydraulic clutch because the clutch springs are softened so it falls into the one finger clutch category. plus yamaha knows how to make a fork work (unlike KTM). The bike is even preferred over the normal yz 250 for motocross because of how it handles and it turns out it is faster on the dyno than a yz 250. Not trying to rip on ktms but they make great off road bikes.

    If you want a full bore enduro then look into the Beta 300rr. If you want a nimble hair scramble bike with the best out of the box suspension, look no further.. spoiler alert..one size does not fit all. Buying a bike based on reviews is pointless.. Go to a test ride event, or ride your buddies new bike, then make your decision.. I chose the 250X for the majority of terrain and type of riding I prefer. Next bike will be the Beta. Unless Yamaha makes a full enduro version soon.

    Honestly, this bike is f'ing perfect. I put some WR 250 clutch springs on it, and a Works Connection clutch lever, and BAM I have a lighter pull than a ktm hyrdo clutch. Rode it on an mx track to test for clutch slippage with lighter springs, and nope, they hold up great. Like I said, this bike is perfect. The rest of you who want all the trail BS aren't the intended market so gtfo with your OOOOooo I wish they made it a trail bike.... why doesn't it have electric start waaa waa waa. Go buy a WR and sit on your ass all day on that in 1st gear, because this 250x aint intended for you.

    So here why all those things have no's. People used to beg for motorcycle companies to give the people motocross bikes with wide ratio transmissions and 18" rear wheel. So that is what Yamaha did. These bikes simply made for daytime GNCC's and closed track races just as the description is stated under the bikes description. If you want a bike with lights, skid plates and, and spark arrestors go with the WR's, thats why they make then. Yamaha has three different tears for a reason. Off road/trail(WR), motocross(YZ), and the GNCC/closed course off road(FX/X). KTM also has almost identical tears but the two strokes are a little more equipped with the advanced off road tech. Another reason for Yamaha not putting handguards, skid plates and other fancy gauges and stuff is because the first thing people do is install the aftermarket parts they prefer. So Yamaha thinks why put this stuff on when the price of the stock machine just goes up and the people take all the stock stuff off anyways?

  • @rileygenereux6755

    @rileygenereux6755

    Thats just what I think. I have the YZ450FX and it is a pain that there is no spark arrestor but all I have it for is a XC series were each race is four hours long. Anything longer than that ill use my WR. Just go to use them what they are made for. And again this is what I think and don't dis because I do listen to whatever others say and ill listen to whatever idea you put and consider it.

    +Review Guru This is not really a trail bike, its a modified race bike which is better suited for trail and can go to the track too if needed. All the things which you say are not included is why its nice and light and why your WR is heavy and difficult to ride in nasty terrain.

This is a bike that will do VERY WELL on off-road and motocross while those european enduro bikes will do EXCELLENT on off-road but suck at motocross. More than an enduro competition bike, this is a FUN bike that you can throw anywhere and have a blast.

    Thats a bit of a tough sell against a Beta or KTM or GasGas for around the same price with a lot more gear on them and 43cc more of displacement, adjustable powervalves, electric start, headlight and big stator, specific trail suspension, gaurds, I appreciate that Yamaha even sells this thing, but not sure, good review!

  • @jridenour31

    @jridenour31

    8 жыл бұрын

    No, it's not a tough sell. It's not aimed at people looking for an xcw. It directly competes with the 250xc and it's easily $1500 cheaper, even more at most dealers around here. Electric start on a two stroke is nothing more than a talking point. The SSS suspension on the Yamaha is miles ahead of anything else, especially KTM. The suspension and lower price more than make up for the KTM's sixth gear and tank.

    This bike will be taking market share from KTM, one bike at a time. I lovr KTMs but I would never buy one over this bike then dump a grand into the suspension that still won't be as good as that yamaha. Props to yamaha, I hope they sell a billion of them, and thanks for not fixing what isn't broke!

    +Egbert Wadman because he's an idiot and clearly doesn't know what he's talking about. I wouldn't change a thing about the bike. I don't want lights or e-start. My x is bone stock besides the TM skid and Cycra handguards. Well, I threw a silencer on it, too, because I needed a spark arrestor.

    Me. In what way is this bike lacking compared to a 250xc? No electric start (breathe on the kicker, problem solved) or 6th gear (4th and 5th are a little gappy, oh well) but it's $1500 cheaper. The motor is still amazing and the suspension is miles above what comes on the KTM.

    @jridenour31. I guess I am just commenting on the lack of development from Yamaha for 2 strokes. How do the powerplants compare between KTM and Yamaha

  • @jridenour31

    @jridenour31

    8 жыл бұрын

    They're pretty similar straight out of the box. The 250xc felt like it made a little more peak power but it wasn't a huge amount. It's hard to say with 100% certainty without riding them back to back but they're both great motors that aren't really lacking anywhere.

    On paper, the KTM is the clear winner. In the real world, though, it's close. If WP would get their crap together or if KTM switched to SSS suspension, the bike would be amazing. As it is, it needs an extra $500 over the Yamaha for a revalve and it still won't be as good as the Yamaha suspension.

    +mrsuperbuckets I'm a big KTM guy, but let's be honest; a brand new KTM is basically the same motor as they had in the 90s as well. KTM has the better chassis by default of using the 4-stroke frame updates on the 2-strokes. But Yamaha is still miles ahead in suspension. KTM is lighter though.
