Great review. Regarding the privacy shield in the cargo area, a great feature is that the spare tire vault has a place designed to stow the privacy shield. I have to take it out of my Lexus and store it in the garage. With the Outback, it's always with you.

One thing I noticed on new Outback reviewers... 99% does not say that the privacy shield can be stored under that hatch on the trunk

Thanks for the review. I own a 2015 Outback 2.5i -- the base model. At an MSRP of $26K, it's the best deal -- if you don't need the luxuries. One thing I'll mention is a great upgrade is tinting the front windshield. Check your state's laws of course. I have the visor area very dark -- 5% VLT ( visible light transmission ), i.e. limo dark. It really helps cut down the sky glare. The rest of the windshield is 70% VLT -- very clear, and yet it cuts down 99% of UV and 50% of infra-red, i.e. heat from the sun. Even here in Hawaii, I run the A/C at the lowest setting. The other small upgrade I suggest is putting an on a Japanese aftermarket rear-view clip-on mirror. It helps reduce some blind spots on this car.

Idiot, just move the mirror out further. Nobody needs to see behind the car from three different mirrors. So change the side mirrors to move further out and cover your blind spots. I have mine set so they cover the blind spots and I can see someone move ALL AROUND the vehicle and there are no blinds spots at all. Just a matter of set up buddy.

Its a very important notice, could you check how far can you move back the driver seat and how far can you move back the passenger seat. Can you see the difference, the driver should have more range of adjustment of his seat.

What is a very important notice? Did you not hear him say that the driver's seat was set up for him being almost 6" tall? and that with that setting he still had 2 hands between his legs and the front seat? Why did you ask him if he could see the difference? Of course he can, he is with the car. What difference are you talking about. BY THE WAY the driver has the most range of adjustment. as the passenger has less. AllWAYS! Why would they suddenly give the passenger more seat adjustment then the driver !!!? Come on, think rationally people !!!

Great review! Thanks. I am torn between the two engines - the 4-cylinder for the fuel economy and the 6-cylinder for the HID lights. Somebody please tell Subaru to add the HID lights tothe 4-cylinder limited. I also wish Subaru would add LATCH anchors to the middle seat.

Thanks for the info, Ednil Feliciano. I am a bit confused now, as all the media I have read/viewed, including Subaru's website, indicate that the HID headlights are only offered on the 3.6R.

Those back seats look like they fold completely flat....or almost anyway. Has anyone tried sleeping in there and is it long enough for a six foot tall person to stretch out? Thinking about this vehicle for cross country traveling and I don't want to mess with a tent.

+ynp1978 Yep! I'm 6'1 and my wife and I slept in our Outback last summer on a camping trip. The seats fold down basically flat, and we were able to sleep comfortably in the back. It wasn't perfect by any means, but by far my best car sleeping experiance. Way more comfortable than my friend's WRX hatch, which I've also slept in.

When you showed the back cargo area and storage, there was no mention of a spare tire. I read that some manufacturers are doing away with the spare tire. Does the Outback have a spare tire? Thuis is a car I am interested in buying soon.

i am sorry!!! The base model engine is indeed lack of power! It is even slower than a corella ... It is a great family car for non car people. If you want a wagon with great speed and handling, you need to spend 15k more for Audi allroad or Volvo xc

Why would you seek to buying an Outback for speed and handling???? !!! That is not what it is made for. You too must be a Colossal NOB! Go buy a Ferrari ! As for AUDI they make a great car, and have an awesome 4WD system, but it is not similar to the purposes that Subaru makes. They have totally different missions. AUDI is more for touring. Even the Q5, Q7, Q9 have different missions to the Outback. Read the specs and see.

Hmmm, do you totally buy your car based on the deal you got? Or for the functions and features that the car offers you and the family? You re like a guy that buys a car based on looks alone...Another great NOB.!!!

Seems to me that the 2.5L motor is woefully underpowered. 175hp in a vehicle this heavy they must be joking.

It is sufficient under normal conditions, in more severe conditions, this is a misunderstanding.
