P Gamboa, been watching your channel for a while. Love the content. You’re the reason I put the Denali cluster in my 17 Silverado via WAMS. I just got the 2020 Denali HD and have some questions. I can’t find much on WAMS from their website, but are they going to be offering any unique features on the new 2020 GM trucks? Also, do you know if the illuminated door handles on the Escalades are still direct fitment on the new 2020 trucks? The new trucks have the unlock buttons too, so I’m assuming those features would finally work as well? Wish there was an easier way to contact you. Thanks for the great content!

Email me at sales@HanressDR.com WAMS is developing things for the 2019 - 1500 trucks and likely the 2020 HD trucks. So stay tuned for that. As for handles, I think those would direct fit. There are differences in the front handles vs the rear handles in terms of wiring (based on the Escalade schematics). I haven't looked at that for 2019 trucks yet to confirm. I would presume the schematics would be the same but haven't confirmed yet.

If I wanted to or needed to rather replace my hmi, do I need to have it programmed to my vin or is it plug n play?

I drive a 2016 silverado 2500hd LT it did not come with a backup camara i ordered one and a tailgate handle I connected it and it doesn't work My question is if I have my HMI unlocked will the backup camara work thanks in advance for any help you may provide.

It is OEM, but one that I customized. I took an OEM 7 panel switch that HDC (Hill Descent Control, Diesel Exhaust Brake, and Running Board control, and replaced the non-existent options with Aux 1 and Aux 2 button caps that were taken from another panel switch. Aux 1 and 2 don't do anything at the moment but will be for future use. :)

Yes I just did this upgrade and it's great I don't even have all the features that phil has but I still got it all done just in case I wanted to upgrade also a side note once you get your HMI back make sure you undo your battery before you plug it up I did not do that the first time and had to send it back off to get them to reprogram which they were nice enough to do it for free

austin g - Very cool! Yes, there is an upgrade path to gain CarPlay/Android Auto. You likely have the 2.0 HMI now. You’ll need to get an appropriate 2.5 HMI and Radio Module for your truck. Once those items are acquired, they get sent off to www.whiteautoandmedia.com to get programmed for your truck, then (at the same time), can get it Unlocked like shown. There is also a need to update your USB hubs as older USB hubs don’t pass the CP/AA Logic. Email me at sales@harnessdr.com for more info.

hello, Phil. i have a 2016 chevy Silverado and have a opportunity to get a pair of factory side mirrors off of a 2018 gmc stl Sierra. these are power fold, heated, turning signal and puddle lights. i would like to know if they would fit my truck and if so i would like to purchase a harness from you. how can i contact you? All this can be achieved thru the factory developers menu that you can access yourself. There's tons of settings and safety features that you can unlock/change on your own without having to pay someone to do for you. But becareful you can really mess some stuff up if you don't know what you're doing. You can Google everything you need to know.

I have a 2015 Colorado what HMI going to need to get unlocked I.e.part number

Have you had any luck fixing gm trucks with g218 ground issues. Or any ground issue. I lose all electrical in tight super slow turns. Was happening every day. However, I cut out the insulation at the g218 ground studs under the dash, both of them. Also cleaned up my main ground on the chassis. After performing those fixes. My truck went from dying everyday, to about once a week. Maybe I need a new battery ? I checked the ground to the starter. That seems fine.

Wow. I haven’t had ground issues. Maybe time to replace battery if the ground likely killed it.

I got the 8” screen with both modules from a buddy but it doesn’t work on mine since I have the 4” screen, would they be able to unlock the module that came with the bigger screen to work on my truck? If so, would they be also able to add on the video mode to watch movies from a phone or from a flash drive if you don’t have the DVD/CD player?

Yes. If you have a 14-16. GM Removed USB playback on USB video playback for 17+. I haven't tried music playback from USB on 17+.

"rear air" ? What size screen do you have now? The upgrades depend on what HMI you have now. LT2 is a higher than base model trim. So you should have a 2.5 HMI. Take a look at the HMI behind your glove box.

Yes it’s the 2.5 but I don’t have the ability to play dvds. Yes rear air conditioning. They used to have it before the new body styles then discontinued it and brought it back in the 2019.

hmm rear air. well currently in the 14-18s there is air vents under the seats but no vents from the center console. the 19s have this. i would assume some kind of after market console /hack/mod with mod air distribution box that has the vents to run under the console to the back and then a module to control it in the rear . or if you just want vents and control from the main head unit. basically on vehicles with rear air ( such as other GMs ) this is basically how it works. they have vents and tubes/ducting that runs from under the dash/airbox underneath the console to the back of it where there are vents in the back. so you are looking at a modified/different air box that would be compatible with your truck the ducts and wiring/control head. that means the entire dash needs to come out to access the air box. i just had to pull a dash to change an evap on 18 yukon at work ... which means center console had to come out as well. yukons dont have air through the console , they have a rear evap in the passenger rear quarter panel with vents coming from overhead. this is similar with the enclaves and Acadias . the envision does have rear ac coming through the console but that console wouldnt fit the trucks. on the yukons/trucks that has the bose sound system the bose amp is under neath the center console.

Hey how You fix You problem

Hey Phil, do you know if this will also solve the problem with an intermittent screen? I just purchased my 2016 Yukon Denali. While I’m driving the screen will go black sometimes you can still play the music sometimes you cannot, other times the screen freezes and I can’t do anything. This seems to be a common problem and many people include to the blue cable that goes to the HMI box. I’ve wiggled that cable, I’ve also disconnected the cable and reconnected it and the problem persists. This seems to be a very common problem with all three of the GM models, Chevy GMC and Cadillac With the IntelliLink system. Just curious if you know if this will also save those issues as a bonus

This one is tough to troubleshoot as it can be the HMI or Radio Screen… or wiring.

How long does it take for them to return the HMI after sending it?

That was an existing cable.

I have a 2015 with a 4” screen & did the 8” screen swap but nothing came on. Would I be able to send in my HMI to get programmed/unlocked or would I have to get a whole new module and send it to get programmed?

If you just plugged it in, it won’t work. I would reach out to WAMS (www.WhiteAutoandMedia.com) on that. They supply the correct hardware and programming to make this PnP. Then you’ll need my IO4 -> IO5/IO6 harness to make the controls work from your steering wheel, cluster, to radio. harnessdr.com/product/io4-io5-io6-radio-upgrade-conversion-harness/

You can swap all the hardware for the headlight switch, radio controls, HVAC controls. Then upgrading to the 2.5 HMI (appropriate 2016 part #s), you can get all in blue. Blue cluster as well.

2014-2015 will have 2.0. Most 2016-2018 will have 2.5. Some 2016 trucks got leftover 2.0 versions.

2016 silvarado the touch screen rarely works. Will unlocking the hmi fix that.

If you don't have an HMI now, I don't think you can easily add it as your won't have any of the wiring. Trucks without an HMI and different hardware and wiring.

Jorge Samaniega yes. But you have to do a full CarPlay/Android Auto upgrade as well. Radio module and HMI together. Must be part # specific.

Wams told me I could play movies from my phone if it was jailbroken. Any truth to this?? I just received my fully unlocked hmi for my 2016 high country. But I don’t have the video button so I feel as if it didn’t get what I paid for. Anyone can lead me to some answers to these questions?

Android auto does it if you're rooted and have "AAMirror and AAUnlock" installed. No, its has to be programmed to the vehicle VIN# to be able to communicate with other modules on the network bus

They sell a box on eBay for 85 to bypass and unlock everything I have it on my 2016 2 ss camaro

Dennis Jones - There is a Bypass Module that can be done, but that only bypasses any restrictions while in drive. Doesn’t provide any of the other features that come with this HMI Unlock. I actually had that eBay module prior to this.

Here is what I did - I used a USB Cable out of the Black Port of the HMI and went to the Brown Port of the Console. I then used another Cable out of the Green Port of the HMI and went to the "input" of the Front USB Hub. Then using another cable, i used the "output" of the front Hub to a USB Female and that's how my Lightning Cable if fed.

Fonzy Bonzy - ANY modification done to your truck outside of a dealer installed GM product can void warranty IF GM can prove the modification caused the failure you are trying to get replaced/repaired under your warranty. Another example of this is - Say you purchased a GM product and installed it yourself, if that product failed due to faulty installation, GM would likely not cover that time. Hope this helps answer your question.

issue lies in if you have a problem with this module or other module and they go to see what calibration of software is installed and if its not GMs software they can see that and see it has not been programmed by a dealer or authorized user of GM's software/programming and that would void your warranty. same goes if you tune/mod your ecm/tcm or whatever. when you program a module for gm it requires info and sends info to GM regarding vin/ date/ software calibration/ repair order and gives a code that the tech/dealer has to put on the repair order for warranty for gm.
