    I like the filming from the dash on this review, it conveys how tight the Cayenne feels. I have never driven a Cayenne, or a Porsche. To the uneducated the Cayenne looks large and bulbus, I didn't think it would drive so well. 8 out 10 for videography.

    Great info as usual. Speaking of the rear design, the Cayenne is unusual when it comes to color, especially from behind..I normally really like silver and whites and reds, but not on the cayenne...it has something to do with the taillight and exhaust design. But if you look at darker shades of blacks and blues, it really looks awesome.

    I own this SUV (2017) and I couldn't agree more with your review. I personally find it annoying that I don't have remote start, keyless go or a heated steering wheel (should have been standard) - MY GTS COST A LOT!! People/dealer says "oh but it's a Porsche" as if that's an excuse but frankly one need only look to EVERY OTHER near peer SUV (Mercedes, BMW, Range Rover) or more the more assessable brands (Jeep, Nissan, Ford) to see these "options" are all now basic basic and standard stuff. LIVING with it it starts to become annoying. Absolutely right about the effortless speed though. I constantly find myself going MUCH faster than I realize.

    A great review, as usual that makes you to know a lot of technical features, much more than if you'd go to the local dealer and ask him a few things. Being a huge car, the diesel engine it's more suitable, offers more torque and is more economically. Speaking about the sport rides on the track, I prefer 918 Spyder, because it's so close to the legendary Carrera Gt, but with more safety features ( compared to Carrera Gt ), than a big SUV which is made for offroad and not for the track, but because it's a Porsche, combine offroad capabilities with sporty features. Thomas when can you test the Porche 918 Spyder ? Thank you again Thomas and Autogefuhl for the all " In depth reviews " !

    Hey Thomas, thanks for another great review. During your entire test drive, I did not notice any turbo lag at all during your accelerations. It seems like the turbo picks up very seemlessly. This was the best and most complete review I have seen of the Porsche Cayenne GTS. I was waiting for the Macan GTS and dying to get one as soon as it was out. But after this review, I went for the Cayenne GTS instead. I am not sure if I am missing out on the Macan GTS, but I think the Cayenne GTS should be able to satisfy me plenty. I have already customized my Cayenne GTS and the Porsche dealer already placed my order and deliver date is set for around early February. I can't wait. My customize Cayenne is below. Porsche Code: PGELEX72 I hope I didn't over-customized it. But regardless, I can't wait to get my hands on my new Cayenne GTS. Again, thank you very much for the great review that truly helped me make a decision. And I am sure I will not regret it.

    Hi Thomas. Interesting to see the tach needle move so fluidly! To the right of course.↘️ Some of your high speed footage looks as if you were just cruising alone the motorway. Must have felt very nice. I agree - a little more upscale look vs the sporty aggressive 'evil' look as you say. Btw do you think any presents under the rooftop Xmas tree? 🤓 Great review. I'd like one of these in my garage for sure. Next to a 911 naturally! 👏🏼

    Thomas, you temp us with such amazing vehicles! Driving everyday a new and powerful car...wunderbar! I like how Porsche takes from the VW parts bin and makes it their own. The 3.6 V6 is a prime example. New head, intake, exhaust and turbos! Does Europe in general have a displacement tax? The larger the engine, the more you pay in tax. I don't understand why Porsche didn't carry over the 911 seats.

  • @autogefuehl

    @autogefuehl

    8 жыл бұрын

    +gbriank1 thanks m8 ! 911 seats are too flat and not upright enough, thats why. And I am glad you get the more comfortable seats here :) German car tax indeed works with ccm, but also with co2 emission. So its kinda both. And you pay more for Diesel than for petrol (but the Diesels usually have the lower ccm figure)

  • @gbriank1

    @gbriank1

    ***** Maybe it is just my arschenhaller, but I like the 911 seats. I find the seats in the Cayenne to have too much bolstering and overly aggressive for an SUV. I'm thinking diesels have hit their peak and will be overtaken by hybrids in short order. Last I read, France was pushing incentives for them (hybrids). VW now has the 1.4 liter turbo that produces near equal power and fuel economy.

    Thomas, thomas, thomas - I'm very impressed with your cayenne GTS review! Just because I have been driving my 2011 Cayenne S for 6 years now. Although I have only 12,700 miles on so far. She is consider my luxury family sedan with higher commanding driving position. Aforementioned, so true the GTS is sportier and less comfort, the turbo S may be over kill, I like the CayenneS V8. German V8 that I really like.. power with precision. yes❗️the turn signal is awkward, I feel like I broke the turn signal whenever I click the turn signal. Terrible on that part! Please bring this to Porsche attention. And ask Porsche to keep on improve making reliable vehicles. We will buy it. A/C need to improved! Did you know Toyota has the coldest a/c unit in all their cars. Better than other Japanese brands. A/C is one of most important the luxury items in a warm climate area. German cars are very good in their heater but I am afraid German cars may not be best in their A/C cold air performance. Toyota use benso unit for their a/c. Not sure if I have it correct spelling. But I hope you got my point. I appreciate for your another great review. Cheers, Buddy

    I think that car manufacturers should get back to the style where they have a diffuser and exhaustpipes below it. It makes the cars look a lot sportier. Much like the ones that AMGs used to have and for example Bmw M cars still have. I am not a fan of those square ones they use currently. I think that the gts should have bigger wheels, because of the bodykit. Thanks again Thomas!

    Regarding the PCM, to store the source of the sound one needs to save it to the Key or a Memory Position on the door, Bluetooth is an exception as that source takes a few seconds to be available after power-up, so as the car doesn't find it it'll automatic revert to FM radio, there is no way around this.

    Thomas I have to ask, you always mention real leather is not a good option since it involves animal cruelty, but does it really add to the number of animals already being produced? Or do they grow and kill animals to meet the demand? I'm asking because I haven't found any numbers online. Only some people on forums speculating about it. That being said, I'd definitely prefer faux-leather as well.

    Thomas - it would be great if the ventilated seats got one more fan speed Maximum for ultimate cooling. Kick it up one more notch. Rear side vents by the door for more even cooling too... my CayenneS has a bit of road noise. It Porsche can make the cayenne as quiet as the S class would be a plus on comfort setting. Sport button would be more pronounced. Best in both world. Also, a storage space for today large size iPhone slot would be nice on the ashtray slot. It can only fits a Iphone 5 but not the larger smart phone. Head up display would be awesome and saftety features like lane departure warning with warning tone, bird eyes, pedestrian avoidance etc. yes! We preferred soft Tex fabric over leather for durability and zero maintenance care. Leather cracks over time. Synthetic last longer and easier to care. Best of all, wrinkle resistance. I know the new fabric feel same as leather now. Why not give your customer a choice. Customer like me keep my car over 10years time. It's an expensive investment to us. 🦅🦅🇺🇸

    I owned the 957.2 2010 GTS for 2 years and man does that 3.6 v6 sound disappointing, there is no soul to the exhaust. next to the V8 growl of the 957.2 it sounds like another ricer aftermarket system!

    I have always seen the Porche Cayenne as my favorite SUV, but it makes me kinda sad knowing that its not really an Economical choice, would you say the maintainace of this car is extremely overprized? And off topic, Thomas, I have always wondered what car is it that YOU drive, what do you own? You look kinda like a volvo or audi person :P

    Please tell me you were just joking when you said "I'm not sure why they are yellow?..." You're German and you do car reviews. Everyone knows why some Porsches have yellow. Look at the window sticker. They're a $15,000 option. Look up PCCB...

    If I had 130k to buy a car that can be used to carry my family and use it on weekends to the country roads, I'd pick a Cayenne Diesel, which is more fuel efficient and perfect for carrying the family; and a Boxster, for pure driving fun. I think that the Cayenne, in the top sporty versions doesn't make sense. It's very expensive and you can have both as I said.

    +Miguel Berghs The bigger diesel engines of this car are also involved in the VW scandal. Just as a warning. Altough if you have enuogh money to buy this car, you probably don't care about emissions and stuff.

    +Autogefühl But is it really better to get a diesel rather than the petrol? I think the diesel can't save much fuel compare to the petrol especially because it's 2967 cm3 displacement within a 2+ ton SUV. There will be a difference of 2-3 liter per 100 km probably not more than that. Porsche is all about sporty drive, that means only petrol engines is an option. Plus if you can afford a 90-140 k euros car then the consumption of 15-18 l/100km shouldn't be much for you even if you are going over 30 000 km per year. At least, that's my opinion on this matter :)

    +Goran Stepanovic No it is not indeed. My favourite are well designed naturally aspirated petrol engines (as for the classic deal). But in general, I do prefer electric cars now, however the best overall solution at the moment (lowest energy use) would be CNG.
