2016 Pedal Prix 24hr Final Race
This is my first production, feedback is appreciated. Congratulations to the team for 110% effort despite loosing a lot of time to mechanical problems. This is my last race with the school team, so best of luck for next year.

Imagine if all cars were replaced by light vehicles like this! Fast, safe to cross the road, and I love that you can even collide between vehicles without crashing.

Super exciting to watch the race from inside the cockpit. Great effort ! Nice video.
Great work Geredd. You captured the tight nature of the racing really well. Well done on the entire crew.

Great video! It could be improved a lot with some voiceovers that explain the competition, where it's at, problems faced etc etc. Great job!!
Muito bom esse ralli, aqui no Brasil ainda não tem , mas em breve chegaremos lá, parabéns.
Well done guys. Did the red and black proud.
Exelent video. I really enjoyed that you opened it with Glitch Mob. I know it's aerodynamics but the wedge tails seemed to prevent as many hard crashes. Was there a age range for the race?

Great video!! (:
So much traffic! Nice piloting skills!
Nice video! This seems to be very popular sports in Australia? It would be nice to see this same concept to spread out to other countries as well. Does people ride recumbents / velomobiles on their spare time outside of the competition in Australia? I mean that are recumbents and velomobiles popular type of transportation in Australia?
@bounding_star

Saukkico unfortunately recumbents are not very common outside of the sport here. there are some similar events around the World, but nothing on the same scale as what we have in Australia

Mark Duwe some of the more angular ones are made from coreflute attached to a chromoly roll cage. Our trike is Kevlar reinforced fibreglass that is formed by laying down strips of the fabric with resin inside a mold, Papier-mâché style. Other trike use a similar process but with various combinations of carbon fibre, fibre glass and Kevlar.
Perfect weather for that type of vehicle.
That young bloke can really handle the velomobile in heavy traffic. Impressive!

Dang it boy, you did a good job, this is almost as good as NASCAR. I think I could watch the full 24 hour long race if some one posted it :) I ride a two wheeled recumbent myself.

2urbi9 our team had about 8 riders, the 24 hour race had over 200 teams and the 6 hour over 100 i think, in the races each of us spent about an hour in the trike at a time

What is the average speed or distance traveled for this 24h ? In the website there is only number of laps but what kind of lap it is ?
@bounding_star
4 жыл бұрын
The laps on this track are about 2km, with the top teams totalling 1300km or more and top school teams over 1000km. My team last year reached 830km which was a pretty good result
you lot were the ones who drifted at loxton 2014. every lap while I was on the corner you came around sideways

Where can you buy these types of velomobiles with the full fairing?

There's a number of different manufacturers, some of the most common ones are Trisled, Trump Trikes, GTrikes, Tru Blu, Sutton Cycles (not sure if Sutton still sells them). Most of them have websites where there is more info

You might want to check out the velomobiles made in the Netherlands, like the Alpha 7, Quattrovelo, Quest or other European made velomobiles like the WAW, Milan, DF, Leiba, etc.

there are actually some types of velomobiles designed for commuters, would make commuting a lot more fun
What's the average speed for the winners?
@bounding_star
6 жыл бұрын
The top teams can average 50km/h or more for a whole race and average over 60km/h on a race lap, much faster in the sprint demonstrations
I know I'm very late but oh well, I am one of the new team members that started this year.

Wow! I thought they were going to start banger racing for a minute! Lol! Great video. I going to get one. Cars suck!
what are you guys doing on the monitors at 7:10
@bounding_star

Left screen has the lap times for our 2 trikes, right screen has their locations on the track. GPS locations are given by a cheap phone with a couple of battery packs in each of the trikes. Especially important to have the trikes locations so that we can find them in the event of a breakdown

Is this one rider for 24 hours or do riders change off? Looks like they change off, but I don't see how they accommodate different leg length. How many riders on a team?

in greenedge there really is no seat adjustment you just get a piece of foam to put you closer to the pedals and there is about 7 or 8 to a team

I'm trying to imagine what a race between the world's top professional road cycling teams would look like in these..... Team Sky v. Team Movistar etc.....With all the money they could throw at it no doubt there would be plenty of high tech around.
@bounding_star
5 жыл бұрын
There's a number of professional cyclists who've raced in these races, some of them have done pretty well although honestly the margin between them and some of the high school teams is smaller than you would expect. I think the biggest thing that would happen if there was pro pedal prix races is that the trikes would become more popular and cheaper for consumers

Barking bad is a high school team who came 7th overall at this race last year. It would be interesting to see but most racers enjoy having a few primary school teams to over take.
@CrusaderSports250

As with any sport when the money hits it you would see the bottem and middle priced out, and the regulations that would be added would see to that, if only to maintain and justify the cost and sponsorship. What you have here is brilliant, hang onto it as it is for as long as you can.
What distance did you get?
