Couldn't agree more - the Soul is a great city car with loads of interior space. You have made an excellent choice!

But for real! I always had small cars like Honda’s and I was driving a kia sorento for work and one day I had to take it for some repair and I was given a Kia Soul in the meantime. And as soon as I sat in that car and started driving it, I just loved it. It’s the most comfortable drive I have ever had and I tried many different cars so far and it just doesn’t get better It’s also a great compromise for when you need space without wanting to bye an suv. Recently I had to start looking for a new car and my boyfriend reminded me how much I loved it and how roomy it was. So guess what? I’m getting my 2016 Kia Soul this week and I am exited to start driving it in my everyday life. I highly recommend it

Ditto to the two most recent comments. I love my 2015 base model with the smaller 1.6 , engine . I get 37 on MPG on long trips, and find nothing wrong with the smaller engine. Great, great car.

I had a 2012 Kia soul it was my first car. I drove it right off the lot with only 3 miles on it and I loved it. But I sold it last year after I had my son and in a rush decided to get a Kia optima. Worst mistake I've made, the car sickness I get in my optima has gotten to the point I can't drive or ride in it. So I'm currently selling it and buying a new soul👌 I just fell in love with these cars. And that car can go off roading, sure it won't get you through a flood and deep mud. But it sure will get you through snow, dirt and bumpy roads and steep grades with out a problem or hesitation. When I had my Kia soul I was able to go from street driving to back roading through WA state mountains.. car got me to many back road fishing spots and camping trips. It also got me through snow storms through the passes. While trucks and SUVs where stuck abounded in the snow, I just drove right by.

love the interior!!

I just got my 2016 Soul. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles, but I spent $11K less than the list on this one. I am 6'4" and I have plenty of room. Very comfortable, lots of storage, good visibility, runs smoothly, I really like it. Very minor down sides - I hate the switchblade key, it is sure to break, and they are $300 to replace. When using the Bluetooth with navigation on my phone, it is very choppy. There might be some adjustment for this, but I haven't found it yet. The USB port does not have enough amperage to use with my phone, so I have to have a power port adapter still. But there are two, and the USB port can be used with other devices. And it doesn't have a spare tire. That is somewhat disturbing. Everything else I love. It is the first car that I've ever had that was wired for hands free phone use. With my smartwatch, it is truly hands free. I don't even have to take my hands off of the wheel. But I guess that would be the same in any similarly wired car.

Love love LOVE my 2015 Kia Soul Exclaim in Cloud White! It looks and feels so much much expensive then it actually is.

I own a 2016 Soul !. I believe the one you reviewed is a nicely loaded Soul+ since it doesn't have body color facias/bumpers, nor the side mirrors with LED turn signals. It is underrated. Car & Driver ranked it #2 in their sub-compact crossover comparison. Consumer Reports named it a top used car buy. There's more leather & soft-touch materials than my 2015 Mustang GT. I traded my Honda CRZ, which is surprising the same length and weight. Great review.

It looks great but I just want to ask about its performance on a bumpy or poorly paved road.Would you consider it to sway less in comparison with other cars ? I know the Sportage is good at that though.

I think they are great, personally the space is great for those that are taller or heavier, its just a great car. Never had a problem with it or had to take it in to a garage unless its for the cars usual checks, so get it :)

I just purchased a 2019 Kia Soul!!!

I love mine. My wife and I bought a 2 litre 2015 premium model, a 2 litre 2016 model, and the new 2020 EV model. Don't get the gasoline version and definitely get the 2020 or 2021 64KWh EV version.

I have been driving a hand-me-down 2002 Mazda Tribute LX since I got my license in 2009. It's been in my family since my 11th birthday in 2001 and it has over 256,000 miles on it and has been a money pit in the last few years. After killing it's 7th alternator in 5 years my parents decided to buy me and my fiancee a new car as an early wedding present. I was given a choice between the Kia Sportage and the Kia Soul and we went with the Soul and we love it. I'm 6'2" and have plenty of room and, though I'm used to the power of the Tribute's 3.0L V6, I'm in love with the power and handling of the Soul's 2.0L (Plus (mid-level) model) engine. I could carry on about all the features but that'll take too long so I'll just leave it with this. The 2016 Kia Soul is a good choice for a "city dweller" young people who want an affordable vehicle that is still stylish.

I couldn't agree more, Ian. The Soul (especially with the 2.0-liter four banger) is an excellent, all-around daily driver. The interior is very roomy, comfortable, and well-built. I think you made the right choice in opting for the Soul over the Sportage. Enjoy!

A couple of days prior to getting it is when the alternator on the Tribute died when I got to work and had been sitting in the parking lot of a bar I provide security services to each week because I had to work a day shift the day after it died. Anyway, I digress, I had just dropped off the Tribute at the shop and my dad told me to meet them at the Kia dealership and said nothing else. I got there and he said I had the choice I mentioned so I called my fiancee and we test drove both. (If it had been up to my dad and if the Tribute made it to September 10, I would have been truly surprised with the Sportage because he didn't believe my mom that I would like the Soul.) I'm not saying that the Sportage is a bad vehicle but it just wasn't as response as I like and was just too much vehicle for my fiancee because she hasn't gotten her license because she hadn't found a car she actually felt comfortable driving. The icing on the cake for why I made the decision I did was the Audio Package on the Soul

I went with the the Audio Package upgrade. As to your question about interior build, it is built very well. I'm 6' 2" and I can sit in the back seat with the seats all the way back and I have more than enough headroom in both the front seats and the back. The cloth seats are very well designed but my only two complaints is that it doesn't have lumbar adjustment like I got used to having with my Tribute and that it doesn't have bucket seats. Both of those would come in handy for my work purposes because I use it while I'm doing patrols for 8 hours and it gets a little uncomfortable while wearing body armor and a duty belt (everyday driving purposes are not a problem and I don't have any complaints about the seats while not on duty which I assume is what you are asking) As to noises, No it doesn't make a lot of noises like an old Samsung phone. The road noise is almost undetectable and I often don't know how fast I'm going until my UVO system alerts me that I have exceeded the 85 mph limit I set for alerts. It does make noticeable engine noise but, for the most part, it is only noticeable when using the ActiveECO feature but that is already known by KIA and is even mentioned in the user manual. Another minor thing that I don't care for is the fact that the accessory ports do not work when the vehicle is not running and you can't charge a phone or, in my case, run a dash light once you turn the vehicle off. All in all, I give it a rating of 4.99 out of 5 stars

I HAVE A 2013 TOP MODEL]dam cap lock!!!] and it is the best car I ever owned it is super fast great on gas [hey that rhymes!]I have had it now since 2017 it was a salvage fixed up great!! no complaints!! I'm a SOUL MAN!! RATED

Nice job. There is one problem for me with this car--apparently you can't install factory cross bars with the sunroof--same problem with the Hyundai Elantra GT. Need a place for 2 bikes and occasionally a roof-top box. I would buy one if I could have the factory crossbars. The KIA website allows adding them in the configuration tool but my local dealer said they wont fit. Too bad.

Hi Daniel, If the Kia website claims those accessories will indeed fit then you should question what the dealer says. Better yet, find another dealer nearby and ask them the same question. Kind of like going to the doctor: get a second opinion. Good luck!

what about ride? Its boucy? Stiff?

I'm an auto inspector. That vehicle sounds like it has a rod knock. you can hear it when he gave it the gas pedal. the lower end of the engine. check your engine oil and PCV.that car could use an oil catch can to help with consumption.

Do you know if the KIA Soul SX Luxury is compatible with Android Auto?

Great review. Would love to get this car but yikes almost $30k. Can’t afford that. Looking at base models though. I can always add heated leather seats later on. The only thing I wish Kia souls had would be AWD. No to go off-road or anything but to have that extra traction in the snow. Really hope they start make AWD models.

I just found a 2016 Soul! with the panoramic sunroof, 21K miles, like a brand new car and drives like a total champ. $15,999. 🙂 I gave my 2014 Solar Yellow Kia base model to my daughter. 72k miles and not a single problem except the headlight wiring had to be redone.

They should put effort into making this all electric! Like one that has more range.

How is the road noise inside the car ? Im lookin into one but im gunna be driving alot so yeah ✌️😊

Yass that's smart dude. Versas get like a time and a half better mileage than souls I think so great decision especially for uber :) I've been driving my 2016 soul with lyft and uber since I bought it new and have put 165k miles on it xD I'm just keeping it lol it's so cute and reliable I love it

The spare is an option. There’s a spot for it in the rear, under the divided plastic box. Looks like Hector didn’t choose to buy one, but sure, you absolutely can out for a spare. A good tire plug kit works well for nails and such.... you just have to read the instructions.

Absolutely I'd buy a new Kia because of the quality, as well as for other reasons, such as value, design, and overall packaging. Plus, they have great warranties.

Oh stop Kia still uses hard plastic they just look nice. Also GM makes some nice interiors now. You need to reference VW who get away with some of the most outdated and plastic interiors in the industry.

Yeah, that is a shame you can't get the more powerful engine. Remember though, the Nissan Juke is classified as a compact crossover so, yeah, it does have a lot of competitors. Though none of them look as quirky as the Juke.

I mean... in any car I fit in there is barely enough head room and rarely extra leg room, but I fit in the soul and versa about the same for headroom. Leg room was better on the soul. No car is great for me. I wish I was 5'10". Everything is made for someone who is about 5'10" so quit yer bitchin! Did you sit in the 2014 and newer kia soul? I sat in the older style 2010-2013 and it is not as roomy. The cabin on the 2014 feels very cavernous to me.

There is not leg room either in Versa or in the Soul for someone 6'7 to drive the car i.e. to keep his feet on the pedals and drive the car. I'm not talking headroom or passenger seat. These cars are made at most for 5'10 people, that's about the tallest that can drive it without getting uncomfortable.

I'm 6ft and own one of these. Fit is just fine and I can raise the seat up to feel higher. Only thing Kia should have done is give it turn signals in the side mirrors and some blind spot detection. Plus models should have a nice 6 inch screen and hey, at least the old school sunroof lol

Why dont you just rent the cars and take em out anywhere you want and film your reviews that way

A buddy of mine rented one for a tour of all the Major League ballparks on the east coast, and put 2000 miles on it in two weeks. He and his wife both liked it a lot (they own a BMW and a Mustang).

Not a bad effort for a beginner. There is just way too much "cool" "amazing" and similar adjectives that do nothing to actually provide useful details about the car. High on enthusiasm but low on knowledge. Just like a typical car salesperson.

Every time i see this car ( and the Juke) i throw up in my mouth a little..Lol..sorry its just box on wheels..and its a KIA/Hyundai..I do enjoy your reviews tho..Pano roofs comprise the car ride as well

The roof is an amazing option on a car in this class, and once you’re inside, you don’t give a damn about the exterior styling, which I honestly think is better than a lot of what I see on the road.

I think it just comes down to taste. I love it but I also have a friend that feels the same as you.

I also think today's cars are often overpriced, but the Soul, compared to so many others, is priced appropriately.

The high-end options do lead to an awfully expensive car. If you can live without the sunroof, electric seats, leather wheel, etc., you can get one for $20k. The warranty is still tops, and one of the most reliable brands. I've had mine for only a day, so hoping that the reliability is there and I don't need the warranty!

You must be living in the wrong state, in the Houston area the Soul+ are priced from $17K-19K
