As an American, I’m jealous that you guys get all the better versions of cars we have here lol

In recent months I have realised that the reviewers are in generally tall men in region of 6F- 6F-3 inch [ 190 cm ]...so that that may serve to car manufacturers as a guidline. People are now simply taller then they were in 19th or 20th century, hehe. Ford Mondeo od 4th generation a one great looking car! I am owner of 3rd generation and I love the car. One day in future when 4th generation used cars will be cheap enough I would surely go for it!

Ford is really on trend with their styling at the moment I think - this mondeo is a very good looking car and a great improvement on the previous model. Don't know if it's just me but I can also see elements of the current Mustang in the lines of the front end.

There are a lot of these Mondeos as Taxis here in Sweden. I think they are quite comfortable and fine cars.

My dad has a UK spec 2016 Mondeo estate.it feels like a luxury car,even though it is a base model with the business pack

About 5 years later the American version the Fusion is now no longer sold in the U.S.A. I think if they would've had the lift back version or even the estate version here the fusion would've sold so much better. Really sad to see it gone in the states.

In Europe and North America it would have required a 4 billion dollar investment for the next generation. Namely crash and emission standards. It currently (2023) lives on in China and Middle East with mild upgrades. I rather enjoy my 2020 model. Great car!

Am getting the 210PS Vignale (UK) in a couple of weeks. Hope I can live with the diesel.

I'm in the military in Germany and we use U.S. Government-owned Mondeo's as official duty transport. With the chrome grille, it gives it a much more aggressive front than the Fusions.

@@zexxonije, because ours were used all day everyday, some issues arose like engine noises, parking lights malfunctioning and faulty fuel and vehicle warnings.

Great extended and detailed review! I want the saloon as well; great car; great job reviewing! :-) Not very keen myself on the Vignale seats and grill! Titanium version is fine for me!

Dear Tomas, Thank you for this review.I am very interesting in Ford models as my family always had a Ford in its garage for the last 40 yrs.In my opinion, you can go over a test driving,for cars like this in South Europe,where road conditions are not that good as in Germany and weather is totally different,z.B in Greece .Many of those modern cars fully equipped with electronics simply cannot offer 100% of its active safety features,and for me this is interesting!

Very good review, just note the sedan has no panoramic roof option for obvious reasons. Just the hatch is available.

Great review as usual, thanks! I wish Ford would offer the 5-door sedan also for the Hybrid and Vignale models. :(

Please explain?!!! Why you felt you had to do this in the rain? Really not the best way to demo a car!

Great review! Good job! By the way, are the suspensions a bit noisy or is just my impression? Anyway, was the tested car equipped with adaptive suspension and if so, was it set on sport mode? That could be an explanation for noises heard when the car rolled over bumps. Thanks!

+acer iconia Thanks I love to hear that. Do you mean as text in our video description? Because inside the video, we have been talking about the infotainment system, security features and new features compared to the old version as far as I remember :)

The previous Mondeo had much better steering and handling and the interior was easier to use (knobs for climate control), short keys for the touchscreen and higher quality (less plastic, a little bit more metal). This new one feels very American to me and lost the edge. A Mondeo was always very good to drive, this is just alright. The Vignale by the way has active noise cancellation and a better soundpack so it is much quieter.

Our previous Fusion although Ok for typical American taste seems like a model T to this new Fusion or Mondeo.

hte estate looks like a missile that is hunting you down... would have been a great car in the states

Hi Thomas. Good review , I would go for the estate version which looks better ( my opinion ) and also has more headroom in the back & more cargo space. Can you add in future reviews a fuel consumption check ? like manufacturer vs reality ? that will be great.

@@autogefuehl can you specify why? Was the Mondeo quieter than the Insignia?

In case of the exterior design I prefer the mondeo rather the premium middleclass cars. Ordered a Mondeo in the ST-Line-Trimlevel in white a week ago. I've chosen the saloon because the trunk is already such big and in my opinion the estate is a little bit bulky at the back.

thanks again Thomas, another interesting review. Few notes: - you forgot the Peugeot 508 and Renault Talisman as competitors. - the estate actually had less volume on the trunk than estate (even less than a golf sw), and its shape isnt so square. but if i had to take a mondeo, i'd take estate over sedan. Design-wise front exterior is beautiful rear lamps could have been redone, interior center console is just ok. I agree Vignale doesn't look like a good deal (dont like the front grille and chromes) 240hp diesel might not have AWD because of CO2 would be too high? overall, the problem with diesel engines is not about driving experience, but pollution... try being pedestrian in a street with traffic jams full of diesel: terrible. that's why I go gasoline.

+carlos fernandez luxury of the past is smoking cigar and sitting in thick genuine leather seats which were ripped off living beings. Luxury of today is using sustainable materials which combine comfort of well-being and using as little resources possible

I think that estate looks very sharp. Not available in Canada. Thanks Ford. I agree with you that Ford could improve the interior quality. It's not bad, but it's not very premium.

Nice review. Talking about the Tire noise: do you feel the Vignale is as quiet as a BMW 5 series diesel (518D, 520D or 530D) or is it more quiet? ... like a BMW 7 ?

+fxevery1 Vignale works with active noise cancellation, so there is a difference, however I would not pay the extra price for the vignale as the mondeo basis is already a good car and the surplus price isnt worth it. Plus you only get the vignale with chemically processed cow skin seats which is a dealbreaker

There is sedan, hatchback and wagon. Here I see a silver hatchback and a dark wagon.

Maybe the 2017 Chevrolet Volt when it's available in my area .

***** here in america you have the perpetual big 3 war (ford/gm/chrysler) sometimes it's about pick-up trucks, sometimes sports cars like the Mustang Camaro etc but brand loyalty is strong among fanboys. :)

Why didn't Ford load this options in the Fusion for the U.S? That's why they failed

petite thing I'm sure, but I really detest that front wiper setup on cars that aren't an mpv. it just looks wrong to me.

BTW, why are you recommending 18" wheels on this car? On most other cars you recommend 18"

Great technology but what for when the most important thing is missing in Ford cars: mechanical reliability. New Ford Fusion Titanium still with warranty, only 10kmiles. . , 1 year having problems with gearbox and front axe. More than 45 days at the authorized repair shop, no spare car offered. No solution at all. Other guys with same problem in forums. A friend with same problems in a new Explorer. Coincidence?? Very dissapointed with Ford.

A foreigner here, is there any specific german car brand that represents any sort of political view in Germany ?

Be honest Thomas?. Would you buy the new Ford mondeo, when V.W. Group has on offer the new Skoda Superb. Ford/vauxhall/Kia/Hyundia, Yes even Mercedes/B.M.W./ even Jaguar have a challenge on their hands with the Skoda Superb. Its a poor mans top of the range car that simple puts the rest to shame on price.

"And now we test the handling of the car" and Thomas drives a roundabout at normal traffic speed.... Really? A T-Ford could have done that without any problems. In my view a test is going to the limits of every component, be it the suspension, the engine, the fuel consumption, the infotainment system, the handling under heavy load, the traction, the off road abilities. The only thing Autogefühl should not be testing is the crash test of course :-). On the other hand, this is called a review and not a test. So, maybe I demand too much.

+Ronald de Rooij well we always have to pay attention to traffic rules and safety to ourselves and to other people in traffic... we could do these extreme tests at closed circuits, which we sometimes do, but not on the road :)

Sedan is an American term.It's a saloon.

German cars are not that good at all my sister has a 3 series BMW and she has had nothing but trouble with it but nothing a match and some petrol wouldn't sort out BMW's are total crap through experience and only berks drive mercs best car I have ever driven so far is my humble focus.

+Autogefühl UK or IE people will call that body type hatchback they are not using word liftback. Saloon body type is sedan small tailgate without "glass"

He's talking about sedan and hatchback. Says that the silver one is a sedan? Looks clearly a hatchback to me. A sedan has no large rear door. I have a sedan if 2002. Don't like hatchbacks. I heard that the new Mondeo is not in sedan anymore. Too bad. A wagon it is for me, if I had the money.

indeed the mondeo is available as the classic sedan, as "extended sedan" lets call it that way, mixing hatch and sedan, and then as estate

I don't understand the interior design. It's even more boooooooring than Volkswagen.
