Is there a technical service bulletin (TSB) from GM on this issue? Has GM issued a recall on it?

I don't think there is any bulletin about this issue, it should be recalled since so many people are having same problem

How do yo reprogram the my link to the stereo my dealer told me they cannot program unless I get it serviced by them

If you change the My link you have to have dealership program Vin # change to mylink

Hey. Did you have to replace the harnesses that goes in the amp?

Yes, we did .we had to replace the defective(water damage)amplifier and then reset

Did you guys just got a new amplifier from the trunk ? That one needs reprogram from the dealer? Or just the one that goes in the front?

Okay so first get a new amp and then reset the cables and see if it resets ? I’m having same issue

Im having the same problem but my screen is still working i just have no sound but anyways im gonna order one today does the dealership need to program the new amplifier? Cause the dealership said thier technicians said its not necessary is this true

No it didn't stop from water coming in,he ended up getting taillights Mount repaired

It could be bad amplifier or speaker. If you have a multi meter check to see if speakers are OK. If you don't have a meter get a 9 volt battery and see if speakers are making sound when touching plus and minus at the speakers. If speakers are making sound then you probably have a defective amplifier

@@goautosound1 I am having this same issue. My screen is turning on and off but my sound works. The bluetooth, navigation system and CarPlay all don’t work. I have replaced the screen itself and it had the same issue. I am looking at both the amplifier and the HMI my link device. What would be your best guess?

@@qshotme did you check in the truck where amplifier is? Most cars have the water damage at the amp on this model, check before you do anything 😁

hello. buy a malibu 2016 LT and did not bring amplifier buy it fresh and do not turn on the screen it comes out in black. sometimes it comes out when I'm in back but sometimes I don't. I plug the amplifier but it doesn't do anything check the fuses and it's okay. I can do now thanks

Most common trouble is the amplifier second one is the mylink module which is located on passenger side kick panel, double check the connection at the amplifier to see if you have power and ground first second is the mylink may be defective,if you replace the module you need to program the module with Vin number

I have a Chevy Impala and my amp got wet but my screen won’t turn on and I can’t hear no sound not even when I open my doors if I went and bought a new amplifier from another Impala would it work in my car if I disconnect the wires resetting it before plugging in the new amplifier would It need to be programmed ?

IT should work,be sure to clean the plug with WD 40 , no need to disconnect the battery no programming needs, Good luck 🙏

hi, friend. buy the amplifier. buy a screen. I bought the transmitter which was burned out, now it turns on the lights and buttons but the screen does not light up. the fuses are good. I've checked everywhere and I can't find the fault. It is a 2016 Malibu LT, thank you if you could help me.

You may have defective mylink module which is on the passenger side kick,try to reset like video if not you may have to replace and program the vin number

@@goautosound1 I already had a defective one. She didn't do anything, she didn't turn on the buttons or anything. The one I bought yesterday only turns on the buttons but not the screen. I already bought an amplifier. screen and that and nothing

Check for water damage in the trunk where amplifier is located first ,check power and ground at the amplifier, if all are good at the amplifier check the my link on passenger side kick panel, you may try to disconnect the module at the passenger kick to see if it reset

Try to reset by unhook the mylink module on passenger side kick panel, unhook for 5 minutes then reinstall,lock the doors then unlock the doors,start the car to see if it reboot
